Morning Devotional...

The Religious Trial and Judas's Death
Matthew 27:1-10 NLT

Very early in the morning the leading priests and the elders met again to lay plans for putting Jesus to death.  Then they bound him, led him away, and took him to Pilate, the Roman governor.

When Judas, who had betrayed him, realized that Jesus had been condemned to die, he was filled with remorse. So he took the thirty pieces of silver back to the leading priests and the elders.  "I have sinned," he declared, "for I have betrayed an innocent man."

"What do we care?" they retorted. "That's your problem."

Then Judas threw the silver coins down in the Temple and went out and hanged himself.

The leading priests picked up the coins. "It wouldn't be right to put this money in the Temple treasury," they said, "since it was payment for murder."  After some discussion they finally decided to buy the potter's field, and they made it into a cemetery for foreigners.  That is why the field is still called the Field of Blood.  This fulfilled the prophecy of Jeremiah that says,

"They took the thirty pieces of silver—
the price at which he was valued by the people of Israel,
  and purchased the potter's field,
     as the Lord directed."

When you think of sin's consequences, what personal examples come to mind?

Jesus' formal accuser wanted to drop his charges, but the religious leaders refused to halt the trial.
When Judas first betrayed Jesus, perhaps he was trying to force Jesus' hand to get him to lead a revolt against Rome.  This did not work, of course.  Whatever his reason, Judas changed his mind, but it was too late.
Many of the plans we set into motion cannot be reversed.  It is best to think of the potential consequences before we launch into an action we may later regret.

Etta Sue:  Food for thought, isn't it?  Some sins put the person in jail.               As for all the cancer in your relatives, that is really a huge concern for all of you.  Prayers for all the girls.

Larry:  Those sedatives really do last longer than we expect and it takes our bodies a while to totally recuperate.  If you still don't feel well, I hope you call the doctor's office.  Take care of thyself.

You know that we are still working at the cabin in high country - gas was supposed to be hooked-up and it was discovered that the main line had not even been laid - the gas company didn't know this.  Now, the road has to be torn up and we just paid to have gravel put in there - now the gas company is saying another 4 weeks & it is their fault.  We are steaming & it doesn't help at all.  Freezing at night.

Interesting sermon today - all about slowing down and listening  - doing what the Lord wants you to do.  He said, "Jesus never jogged".

Happy Monday holiday, everyone!

John's train was only 10 minutes late last night, so we got back home at 1 AM.  I was glad I didn't have to be at work bright and early today.  Becki is still here, plans to leave in the morning.  The girls (nurses) at the home all gave John hugs and told him to come back--he plans to come back next summer.

My good friend Pat has been having a terrible time lately.  She is in constant pain in her back and left leg, has done everything they can think of, and nothing is helping.  She will probably have to have a couple vertabrae in her back fused.  Please pray for Pat.  Anyway, yesterday Darrel and I made them a big pot of beef stew and a chocolate cake and took them over.  Pat NEVER misses church if she can help it, but has missed three Sundays now because she just cannot sit that long.   :'(

Mark helped me post a bunch of our photos from our Viet Nam trip on Facebook, so if you would like, please go take a look at them.  I can sure see how people get to spending WAY too much time on Facebook!  I just cannot do that.

I am having constant pain in my right hand/wrist/arm.  Different from the carpal tunnel pain I had before the surgery, but it is really interfering with my life.  Really hurts when typing on this laptop.  I'm used to my ergonomic keyboard with the desktop, but I still cannot post on CP from that one.   :(

Carol, thanks for looking at my photos.  So sorry about the lack of a gas line.  Good grief!!  Someone sure dropped the ball on that one, didn't they?   :ticked:  How far is the cabin from your house?

We have booked our next adventure---Costa Rica--for April.  We will be riding the jungle canopy line, taking mud/mineral baths, go to Tikal, and lots of other fun stuff.  I gave Beth orders to STAY WELL DURING APRIL AND MAY!!!  ;)

Speaking of modern gadgets, our pastor is going to do a series of sermons called "Coffee and Conversation."  He wants us to bring our cell phones so we can text him questions while he preaches.  :-\  I sure won't be doing that, I don't even know how to text!  We will see how it goes.  And yes, he said we will have coffee which we can drink in the sanctuary.... ???

I am 'way too chatty this morning!  See you!

Really good thoughts today, Etta Sue.  Thanks.

Hi everyone.  Happy to be able to report that I am feeling better today.  Yesterday, I did go to church and we went out to eat with the group but was really glad to get home and rest for a couple of hours.  Think I could have stayed in bed until morning.  Nothing specific but aching and very tired feeling.  Amazing what a night's sleep will do to improve how we feel.

I went for coffee this morning at McDonald's and not too many out.  One of the men spilled their full soft drink but fotunately, while it made a mess, it didn't hit any of us.  An employee came and cleaned it up.

I have my normal men's luncheon today and we are going to a Mexican restaurant.  I have no idea how many will be there since it is a holiday.  However, most of us are retired so every day is a holiday.  Nothing else on the schedule for today and no big projects that I need to work on at this time.  However, sure I can some up with something to keep me busy.  There is a college football game on TV tonight to watch.  My team, Georgia, didn't do well on Saturday.

Carol, it appears the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing on the part of the gas company.  Getting your cabin ready has been quite an ordeal for you all but sure it will be most enjoyable when all the pieces come together and you can start enjoying it.

Etta Sue, thanks for doing the devotional for this week.

Judy, I am sure you all are good influences on the young lady who spent the night with your daughter.  Hope John is feeling better by now.

Janet, you sure weren't too chatty.  Your trip next April sounds great except for the mud baths.  I had enough dirt when I grew up on the farm.  Sorry to read of your arm pain.  I sure don't understand why you can't get on CP from the desktop as sit just doesns't make any sense.

Marilyn, glad you were able to visit with your son and his family.  How long will you be there?

JudyB

Etta Sue Interesting your topic....Same topic as Back to the Bible.  Well done.

Ashley went home yesterday afternoon.  Had a nice visit with her mom when she came to pick her up.

Again today is a lovely day.  I have mowing to do and regular monday chores.

Bye for now

Well, since most of us are retired, holidays aren't time off from work anyway.  But I plan to honor this holiday by not 'laboring' at all.  Oops!  I did pull some weeds out of my rocks earlier.

Not planning on doing much of anything today.  May call Ivalou and talk to her.  I miss her.

I tend to agree with you, Etta Sue - I haven't "labored" any today either!

I think I'll finish up on the 'net', then go do some exercise and see if te vitality returns. As of yet, I seem to sleep an inordinate amount of time.

Y'all have a good day.

Ruth and Etta Sue a suggestion.  Contact www.victoria'squilts.com and give them the information for the young ladies and Ruth for Allan.   They are a non profit organization that provides a quilt free to anyone with cancer.  This quilt is made with love out of 100% cotton products, no synthetic products are in the quilt, to give a hypoallergenic product to the individual.  They are cozy and again donated and made with love.    I have requested donations for a few people the least being Rachael and our brother Murray.

This is late tonight, I am tired but my hip is aching and keeping me awake.  Tylenol is beginning to take effect so back to bed soon.

Night all

Thank you so much for remembering my day, Jeanne!

Kitty and I are going to spend the day together.  She will be coming around 9:30.  I just know we are going swimming and taking our cameras for some photo opts.  She has to be back in Lapel at 3pm but we are still going to go after that.

I usually wake up on my birthday thinking it is my birthday.  Not today.  I woke up thinking that Lauren is already at the hospital going through some tests and getting Chemo.  That's one thing I want to look for today...some pink ribbon jewelry.  For Lauren and Keri.

Does anyone have a crochet patterns for the chemo hats?  Would love to make some funky ones for Lauren!

Janet Sorry about your wrist/arm pain.  Maybe some PT is needed?  Work?  Are you still working (ugly word).  Costa Rica - that will be a place for even more beautiful pictures.  Oh, we have taken coffee into the sanctuary for meetings and such and this new church serves coffee for the 7:30 am service.  Pray and sip - just kidding.

Larry:  A big game over the weekend was the Rocky Mountain Showdown and our favorite - CSU won after 23 years of losing.  A much smaller & less endowed school so it is always a big game.  The underdogs won.  Our cabin is about 110 miles - good two hours if luck is with you.  We are supposed to call the local guy at this Friday - this all began in April when we asked for gas hook-up.

We keep praying that Don's hearing distortion will improve so he can enjoy music again.  He told me that WalMart drove him crazy.

AND MANY MORE!!!

Al, no, this laptop has IE, and my desktop has Firefox.  I did delete the cookies earlier, when Larry suggested I do that.  Computers!  ???  :-\

We certainly labored on labor day!  Man, I am still tired, but that is probably because I was hurting tip to toes, took some pain meds and went to bed before 9 last night; woke up at midnight and was awake until after 5 this morning.  I need more

Becki left this morning before I was up.  I felt bad that I didn't get to tell her goodbye, but I did call her.  I hope she has a good drive back to Fargo--at least two days away.

Boy, Carol, 110 miles!  Not too handy for doing the needed work; but I'm sure the cabin will be a welcome and cozy retreat when all is done.  In the meantime, lots of work and frustrations for you and Don....son, too, I would think.  Hope things have settled out in that department.  Bad feelings between family members make me very uncomfortable.

Mark stopped by to pick up his sunglasses he left on Saturday, and stayed to help Darrel move a few more heavy things.  God, please bless that dear grandson!

I need to get busy.  I told Darrel we simply MUST get something done each day, or we will not be ready for that auction on Oct. 17!

Judy:  Thanks for thinking of my brother in regard to the quilts. Are the quilts just for cancer folk or does it include others that are ill or perhaps bed ridden.

It is a lovely day I am sure enjoying the sun it is just right. We have had a very busy time with visiting and doing what needs to be done here as well, presently Mel is out cutting the grass, it had been recommended that we have the lawn over seeded as a means to choke out the weeds and also leave the grass longer when cutting, the over seeding has worked but now we need to cut it about twice a week if lucky once will do.

Don:  I had an inner ear problem of which my hearing was affected for me it was 6 months before I noticed change then it gradually started to get better, I had been told that I would have a permanent  loss of hearing but it is back to normal, keep strong.   When mine was so bad I did not go to church or public places as the noise was just too much, I was driving school bus at the time and even the students knowing I was not well tried to be very quiet and yes they knew when I was well. They knew how I responded to them.

So much for my chatter.    Ruth

Ruth the quilts are just for those with cancer.  The name is Victoria's Quilts, Victoria had cancer and died a number of years ago.  He sister started the organization in her honour.  From what I have read the sisters were believers.

The morning I was leaving I called Puppy Love I called first to see if they were open yet. They said "Oh don't bring the dogs right now we are having a bomb threat" While I was still on the phone another employee came in and said their side of the street was cleared by the police. So I could bring the dogs in after all.

When I got  there the street was barricaded down the middle and there were police cars and a police van at the  City Hall or whatever that  city building is down there, I guess Nita would know. about a block before Puppy love and the traffic was being  only allowed on one side of the street.

I got out of the car on the passenger side and got the dogs into Puppy Love and then got back into the car on the passenger side as traffic was  coming at a steady pace. It took forever to get out of the parking spot and on the road again. That was the excitement for the beginning of the trip.

The trip home was uneventful and  very nice. I was tired and hungry when I got here. Keith misunderstood about meeting his friend in Sunriver so he came home too and got here about  a hour and a half after I did.

I had a great time  every place I went on my trip. While at Willa's on Friday night I walked up to the church where there was a Women's night out  going on. I got then at just about the end but I got to visit with everyone there and got a hugs from all the ladies and even my former Pastor.

At my Son's we kinda just hung out at the house. on Saturday  evening we went for pizza and we were gonna go bowling but the Bowling alley was  closed.  On Sunday  we went to my DIL's parents house it was her mother's  birthday. On the way hom,e we stopped at the Co-op for some groceries.

We had baked fish, BBQ'ed Oysters, and BBQ's he and I a Squealer burger. That is Elk, beef, lamb and pork all ground together. It was very good. They only buy Organic meat. The Co-Op is an Organic grocery store, I used to shop there too for certain things. We place a game of cards  later and watched a movie.

This morning I was anxious to get the dogs as soon as Puppy Love opened but when I went to get the dogs and they weren't there yet (they had gone tot he horse ranch with the owner), so I went to Walmart and got a few groceries and it still wasn't 9:00 so I went to the bread store then went after the dogs. They were sure glad to see me and as soon as we got home the wanted out  in the backyard, I couldn't get the slider in the bedroom open for them so they had to go in the dining room and down the longer flight of steps. Happy did pretty good coming back up I just had to walk next to him and he must have thought I was helping him up the stairs. Those are the stairs that I fell on last winter.

Marilyn, my understanding is that a library employee noticed a suspicious satchel or briefcase outside the library when coming to work.  The police were called and they blocked off the area to await the bomb squad from Eugene.  I'm not sure of the outcome, but I noticed all the downtown area blocked off when I (tried to) went down there around 10 a.m.  Everything was clear later in the afternoon when I went.

Glad you had a good trip down and back from McVille.

Happy Birthday, Etta Sue ... I seldom make it to post a reply online, but maybe this will "take" ... wishing you a great year ahead.

:)  Good evening to all.     HAPPY BIRTHDAY  ETTA SUE. :)    Well I Finlay have got back to C.P. and have gone over the last posting's and will try to remember all of your request for prayer.  At my age it is hard to remember them.  My son Dan that had to leave his wife is having a very hard time and still does not have a job.   His  Jeep that he bought is giving him a hard time it seems when it is finally running something else goes wrong with it.  Also  yesterday he went to an eye doctor with regards to his sight as he is a type 1 diabetic and the doctor says he has to see a specialist as there is a problem so you all can imagine how he feels and he is not living for the Lord.   So please pray for him <3

Larry:   It is good to here that you are starting to feel stronger.  Just don't overdo it and take that afternoon nap if you need it.

Etta Sue.  I hope that you are also feeling better relax as much as possible.

Judy B.  The people that you asked me about yes we do know them.  They used to be at Richmond hill baptist and also  Willowdale Baptist.   Hope that John is feeling better. Love ya sis. <3

Have a wonderful week and God bless to all the new people that are here on C.P. <3

Hi, friends,

Etta Sue, sure hope this has been a great birthday!

I'm thankful to be here tonight. Today's been the first day with my old vitality returning. How wonderful that is.

I attended 2 worship services: first here at my apartment complex, then this evening was the every-other-week bring-in dinner for seniors followed by in depth Bible study.

3 people couldn't come to this evening's meeting because of illness, so I fixed dinner plates and delivered them on my way home.

Now, it's about time to rest for the day. :)

I agree with Gord, may each of us be blessed by our Lord's presence. I love you all.

Off this morning for the first women's bible study of the season - the book of Romans.  Then, our neighborhood stitching group in the afternoon.

Ruth:  Thanks for thinking of Don.  I printed your note for him & know that he will appreciate your message.

Etta Sue:  Even though my greeting to you was in really washed out teal, I meant it to be a big & cheery message.  Hope you had a terrific birthday.

Marilyn & Jane:  Kudos to the alert officials in your area.  Some people just want to forget that things can happen in our country.

Gord:  Prayers for your son, Dan.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I was gone almost all day yesterday and then was worn out when I got home.  I had read a few messages here but didn't get to post.

First of all, a belated Happy Birthday to Etta Sue before I forget.

Marilyn, glad you are home safely and have your dogs back at home.  Sounds like you had some excitement yesterday.

Janet, you should have Microsoft Internet Explorer on your desktop even though you use the Firefox as the preferred or default browser for the Internet.  It can probably be found from the Start menu when you click the Start button at the lower left.  That browser is a part of the Windows software and has to be used for updating the Windows software from time to time.  You can run mulitple browsers on a computer.

I am not going to try to address everyone today as then my posting would be too long.

Yesterday Pat saw the foot doctor and they schedule surgery for this Friday.  They are going to remove part of a nerve in the bottom of her foot.  We had to go to the hospital to do the pre-op, which was just across the street from the doctor's office (and also where our daughter lives).  Then we had to go to Kaiser to get blood tests done (which required seeing the doctor there) and for her to get an EKG.  Fortunately all of that didn't take too long.  However, we were gone from about 9:30 until 4 pm yesterday and both were exhausted.  I feel the impact of it today and elected to stay home today and not do the usual Wednesday activities.  I do have choir tonight.

Thank you all very, very much for remembering me on my day.

Kitty and I were going to spend the afternoon and evening together but when Ivalou went to Ohio, she said we could spend the whole day.  She wanted to know what I wanted to do but I told her I liked surprises...for her to decide.

So she told me to bring my swim gear and my camera.  Photo Guild is having bonus photos or challenge photos and this month is 'Labor' for Labor Day.  Well, it is hard to get a photo of anyone laboring in this house.  The cats don't do any work at all!

So Kitty was here at 9:30am.  We went to Noblesville and I thought we were going on to Carmel.  But we went to
Conner PrairieIt is a working village...part of it is 1886 and part is 1836.  Lots of people working and they talk to you like it is the 1800's.  We asked them if we could paint them instead of taking their picture.  So I got lots of photos.  Then we ate at the Conner Outdoor Cafe.

After that we went to Hallmark Store and I got a couple of pink ribbon pins.

Kitty had a meeting at the high school so we were there at 3pm.  Then off to The Monon Center to swim.  Our first time swimming in the indoor pool.  The lap pool there is a lot longer.  We asked a gentleman how long it was...25 yards and he said he usually swam 12-14 laps.  Now Kitty nor I are good swimmers..no way.  But we swam 14 laps...with a rest after each lap!  So on my 67th birthday I swam 350 yards!

Then after all that walking in the a.m. and swimming in the p.m., we ate at Don Pablos and messed up all that exercise!  My meal was free.  We each have cards for Don Pablos so I got $10 off my meal for my birthday.  Then they scanned Kitty's card and she got $10 off because it was her 9th visit!

Then I came home to all the wonderful birthday greeting from friends and family in emails and on facebook!

A great birthday!!

Today I got up and went to WalMart and got my haircut.  It was getting too long for swimming and cool weather on the way.  It is really short.  I don't know if Ivalou can keep it up this way or not but I can go to WalMart every so often and get a haircut!

Ivalou called and Lauren has her MRI today at 1:30...probably over by now.  Then she has an appointment with the surgeon tomorrow.  Hopefully then she will find out everything and will be given options of what can be done and do it!!

Thank you so much for the patterns for the chemo caps.  Will get right on them.  Why didn't I get some yarn at WalMart????

Thanks again for all the birthday greetings!

:)    Good afternoon to all.   Had a very busy morning which I drove my wife to the dentist's office for her app. then my son and I went to the bank made a deposit and then went looking for one particular part for his jeep.   We went to the Chrysler dealer and there computers were acting up so they could not find out anything.  We continued to go to pick up other parts which he had ordered and on our way we went past a auto wreckers and we actually found the part that we needed so praise the Lord for answered  prayer. This  part the a/c delco parts shop could not find on there computer.      Other good news Dan my son got a call this morning  for an interview for a job next week so again answered prayer so please keep praying for each other and you will see results in your lives :)

Well I must sign off as I have to go get ready as I am going to a banquet to do with the Kidney Foundation as I was a canvasser this past fall.  God bless to all We Love you.  Gord and Noreen and Dan. <3

Gord:  Will hold good thoughts for your son, Dan.

Etta Sue:  What a nice place to celebrate.

Etta Sue

Conner Prairie is a fun place to visit.  You learn so much about the past.  I spent another birthday there years ago!

Well, Lauren had her MRI yesterday and on Facebook she wrote...'Liars!  Liars!  You didn't tell me I had to have an IV for the MRI and I hate IV's.  But it looks like I am going to have to get used to them.'  She goes for her surgeon appointment at 9am this morning.  Probably home by now.  I haven't heard anything.

Kaye Don and Barb are headed to Ohare airport in Chicago to pickup Jenna and Jack.  Jenna is their granddaughter, Keri's daughter.  She is in the Navy and was at Bahrain in the middle east.  Jack is Kaye Don and Barb's grandDOG!  Jenna will be coming back to the states before Christmas and will be out of the Navy by the new year.  She is coming home to be with her Mom tomorrow for her Mom's surgery.  I don't know when she will be going back.

I have a big bout of allergies!  Started with a sore throat after swimming...thought is was the chlorine in the water and possibl swallowing some of the water.  But last night as soon as I laid down, I was coughing and trying to clear my throat.  I got up and Vick's myself, put a Halls in my mouth and slept in the recliner.  This morning I found some Sinus/Allergy pills.  Took one pill.  Feel better already!  All the corn and soy beans were still very green last Sunday.  Yesterday they were a beautiful yellow!  Allergy time!  And then I mowed the grass yesterday...well, mole hills, and I was so dusty that I had to hose my legs, arms and feet off before coming in the house!

Today is the Class of 1960 luncheon.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

Yesterday was busy with a good, long visit from friends first, and then a visit to my GP. He was So pleased - all readings are within normal limits and even a weight loss, also. So, now it's 6 weeks till he sees me again. :)

Our God answers prayer!

Larry, I'll be praying with you about your wife's foot surgery - how very painful that must be.

God's blessings be with us all.
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Carol

Larry:  I completely missed reading or remembering Pat's foot surgery.  Whenever it happens - my best to Pat.  I hope it isn't her foot for the sewing machine speed.

Ruth Ann:  It sounds like a good report for you as well.  Nice.

We are back from visiting with our daughter all morning.  She has an interview this afternoon - she sure has the background for the job.  We were stuck twice in traffic all because of wandering drivers crashing.

I meant to tell you about the women's bible study I just joined.  There are about 400 women attending.  It was just great - about 8 at each table and we have one leader.  The speaker/leader is a pastor and she is so interesting.  My table mates are really nice and some have been going for 20 years so I am a newbie for sure here.  One woman has the dreadful Huntington's Disease and she cannot control her muscles - she is an aeronautical engineer from my home area in the northwest.  What strong faith she has that she apparently never misses a meeting.  There are so many super serious things to pray about that I can't even begin to tell you.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I have had an enjoyable day as this was my retiree's luncheon meeting.  We meet every two months and today we had 12 or 13 present, which is a large group for us.  I saw some folks I hadn't seen for awhile.  That is about all I have done today other than rest when I got home.

Pat is scheduled for her surgery tomorrow at 12:30 and has to be there about 10:30 in the morning.  They called today to tell her they will keep her in recovery for 3 hours following the surgery because of her sleep apnea.

Judy, the new grandchild is always a blessing.

Etta Sue, sounds like you have been very busy.

Carol, that is a very large Bible study group.  Glad you enjoyed it.

Ruth Ann, glad you had a good report from your doctor.

Janet

I guess I didn't make it in to post here yesterday.  Sorry.

We are working way too hard trying to get stuff moved around and ready for that auction.  Today I made 19 trips up a spiral staircase and back down, carrying heavy boxes of books.  Whew!  We also burned two more pickup loads of trash and junk, moved several loads of stuff.  So except for my hands/arms/face, I am a dirty gal right now.  So as soon as I finish here, I am headed to the shower!

I was awake most of the night again last night.  This needs to stop.  :(

Etta Sue, I am glad you had a fun birthday!

Gord, praying for your son.

Congrats, Judy, on the coming grand.  Wish I could have another one.  But I do have another great-grand on the way!

Carol, that is probably the largest Bible study group I have heard about, glad you enjoyed it.

Larry, I will pray for Pat.  That surgery does sound painful, hope it isn't.

I was talking to daughter Diane a while ago, and she said for us not to kill ourselves working so hard; said she was going to say just leave it for somebody else to worry about until she realized that somebody would be HER!  ;)  :)

Hey Gord Have a good night!

I saw that and wondered!

John has a Dr's appt tomorrow.  Lets hope the last of the problems are able to be cleared up so he can get back to work.

This has been a lazy day.  Not too much accomplished.  The weather has been wonderful, summer at last.  I hope to take the girls swimming tomorrow after school.

Hi, friends,

Just a note tonight. I'm now a GG (great grandma). Caleb Andrew Bice entered the world today at 5:53 PM. I hear he's really precious. Have spoken with my proud pappa grandson, and we're arranging a time when I can come to meet this new little one in our clan asap!

We're celebrating Grandparents' Day at church Sunday...guess what tales I can bring this time. ;)

It's so wonderful to feel alive once again. What a blessing.

As I close,

Dear Father, In Thy Son's name I pray that you'll be with Larry and his wife, and the medical personnel who will be performing the surgery and taking part in her care. Watch over them, please, and if it be Thy will, please let this surgery correct her problem. May You provide swift, uneventful healing for this good woman.

Amen
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

3:03 and I am still awake.  Unable to sleep.  I will head back and see if I can get some sleep as I do have a big day tomorrow.

Hi everyone.  Just waiting until it is time to go to coffee at the senior center this morning.  We will leave for the hospital at 9 am as Pat is suppose to be there by 10:15.  This is going to be a long day but will have my iPod so will have plenty available to keep my mind busy and pass the time.

Ruth Ann, thanks for that prayer.  All prayers are appreciated.  Congratulations on that new great grandchild.  They are very special.  It is great to be a grandparent and then really something special to be a great grandparent.

Judy, hope John gets a good report and will soon be able to return to work.

Janet, am worried that you and Darrell are working too hard.  Nineteen steps up and down a spiral staircase seems like a huge amount.

A friend sent me the following in my e-mail today and while we may have seen it before I felt it was worth sharing again on this anniversary of 9-11-2001.
'MEET ME IN THE STAIRWELL'

You say you will never forget where you were when
you heard the news On September 11, 2001.
Neither will I.

I was on the 110th floor in a smoke filled room
with a man who called his wife to say 'Good-Bye.' I
held his fingers steady as he dialed. I gave him the
peace to say, 'Honey, I am not going to make it, but it
is OK..I am ready to go.'

I was with his wife when he called as she fed
breakfast to their children. I held her up as she
tried to understand his words and as she realized
he wasn't coming home that night.

I was in the stairwell of the 23rd floor when a
woman cried out to Me for help. 'I have been
knocking on the door of your heart for 50 years!' I said.
'Of course I will show you the way home - only
believe in Me now.'

I was at the base of the building with the Priest
ministering to the injured and devastated souls.
I took him home to tend to his Flock in Heaven. He
heard my voice and answered.

I was on all four of those planes, in every seat,
with every prayer. I was with the crew as they
were overtaken. I was in the very hearts of the
believers there, comforting and assuring them that their
faith has saved them.

I was in Texas , Virginia , California , Michigan , Afghanistan .
I was standing next to you when you heard the terrible news.
Did you sense Me?

I want you to know that I saw every face. I knew
every name - though not all know Me. Some met Me
for the first time on the 86th floor.

Some sought Me with their last breath.
Some couldn't hear Me calling to them through the
smoke and flames; 'Come to Me... this way... take
my hand.' Some chose, for the final time, to ignore Me.
But, I was there.

I did not place you in the Tower that day. You
may not know why, but I do.. However, if you were
there in that explosive moment in time, would you have
reached for Me?

Sept. 11, 2001, was not the end of the journey
for you . But someday your journey will end. And I
will be there for you as well. Seek Me now while I may
be found. Then, at any moment, you know you are
'ready to go.'

I will be in the stairwell of your final moments.

God
During the next 60 seconds, stop whatever you are
doing, and take this opportunity. (Literally it
is only 1 minute.)  All you have to do is the
following:

Stop and think and appreciate God's power
in your life, for doing what you know is pleasing to
Him. If you are not ashamed to do this, follow the
instructions. Jesus said, 'If you are ashamed of Me, I will be
ashamed of you before My Father'

If you are not ashamed, copy and send this message...only
if you believe 'Yes, I love my God. He is my
fountain of Life and My Savior. He Keeps me going day and
night. Without Him, I am no one. But with Him, I can do
everything. Christ is my strength.'

RuthAnn, congratulations!  I'm in a kind of in-between spot - no more grandchildren, with the youngest at 15, and no immediate prospects of any great grandchildren.

Larry, my prayers go with you and Pat today.  "Meet me in the Stairwell" is very appropriate today.  Thanks.

Janet, do try to slow down, at least a little!

Janet

Thanks, Larry, for putting in "meet Me in the Stairwell."  We all need to remember that tragedy and protect our rights before they are all stripped away.  Glenn Beck is having a special program tomorrow called "The 9/12 Project."  I encourage all of you to watch it.

Yes, I know we need to slow down, but see no way we can, as we have that date set, and nobody else but us to do the hard work of getting ready.  I was really careful going down those stairs with boxes of books;  thinking...no way can I afford to fall down!

I didn't even get in to see Beth and Mom yesterday, as we started working early and by the time we stopped I was too tired to even consider it.  But I have to go today and take Beth's shoes with the leg braces back to her, as her feet are getting even worse not having worn them in three months or more.

Why do we do this to ourselves, anyway?  I am talking about accumulating so much stuff.  Seems as long as there is room to put it somewhere, it just gets stored; then we wake up to the fact there is just too much stuff!!  In our defence, however, I must say that a great deal of this stuff belonged to Darrel's Mom and brother, and of course, to Beth.  They are all still living, but will never want this stuff back, so out it goes!!  And we do hav e their permission to get rid of it.  UGH.

Pat, I sure don't understand about Janet and Janet1...could that be the reason I can't post on my desktop?  I got a thing yesterday saying I need to register...... ??? :-\

It is so foggy here this morning we can't see  100 yards!

Guess it is time to get dressed and get at it again.   Sigh...........

The Class of 1960 luncheon was fun.  There were only 10 of us but one man brought many suggestions, costs, etc. for places for us to dine on Friday night before the commencement next year.

Now Tony is telling me he has a bacteria in his blood stream that is causing him to feel faint and gassy.  Same bacteria as an ulcer but no ulcer yet.  So he is on anti-biotics.

Keri is at the hospital now getting her procedures done.  Pray they don't find any cancer cells in her lymph nodes.

Lauren said on Facebook that she is to have her left breast removed within two weeks.  And depending on the pathology report whether she has to have radiation then chemo or just chemo.

When it rains, it pours.

I am going this evening with Tony and Charlene out to eat for my birthday.

That's so sad, Etta Sue.  I know that I'm hearing more and more and more of serious illnesses among my friends.  Not nice.

Enjoy your birthday meal!!!

For some known and unknown reason the computer gets turned on to do a specific job and it is hours before it gets done. For me I must go to our banking site and yet I visited the other special places before the banking.

Judy: Congrats on the up coming arrival of yet another grandchild, enjoy it to the fullest when the special day arrives.

I have started to crochet an afghan but can only do it during daylight hours,  is a fairly easy pattern but done mostly in the single crochet.

Our dinner this evening was fish chowder with home made bread and yes I am still full.

Prayers for all.   Ruth

I am taking today off and going to my painting meeting!  :)  Yea!

I am ready to leave, will drive to my friend Winona's house and share a ride from there.  It will be so good to have time to visit with her, seems like it has been ages since we did.

I wish you all a happy and God blessed day.

I just got home from Ohio to get Ivalou.  I did see Lauren.  She seems upbeat.  Her Mom and her walked in a Susan B. Komen walk in Cincy today.  Lauren said they put papers on your back to tell who you are walking for.  Teresa had 'My Daughter' on her back.  Lauren had 'Myself' on her back.  She said there really weren't very many pink shirts (survivors) but I am going to wear a pink shirt some day!!  At least she is a positive thinker!

It is good to have Ivalou back home.  She said she loved being with family over there but she knows she is going to sleep good tonight!!

My allergy is full blown now.  I sound like a bullfrog when I cough.  I feel normal right now but when I get horizontal, I start wheezing and coughing.

It was one beautiful fall day in Indiana and Ohio today!  Beautiful out.  A little nippy but beautiful!

Hi everyone.  I have been very busy yesterday and today.  Pat is fine but has a very sore foot.  The surgery went well and took only about 30 minutes but she had to wait for 3 hours before they released her.  We got home about 5 pm.  I was very tired and retired early.  Then about 11 pm Stacey called to say she was headed to the ER at the hospital across from her apartment in her wheelchair.  She has had strep and the flu and was vomiting and her blood pressure had gone very high.  She spent the night in the ER and they admitted her this morning.  They started her on IV fluids and she is feeling better but probably will be in the hospital for a couple of days.  Her sugar was high, her heart rate too high and her blood pressure was 200 plus over 100 plus (can't remember the numbers).

This morning I went to her apartment and gathered her laundry to bring out her to do and took her some clean clothes and her cellphone charger.  She apparently is over the flu and the diabetic doctor thought her current problems probably stem from not being able to eat for several days and not being able to take her insulin.  Hopefully she is on the path to recovery.  She just now called and is feeling better.

I had a filling come out this afternoon.  Between Pat and I we are keeping our new dentist busy.  I also need to get started on the crown I need to have done.

Now I am working on the laundry and watching the Georgia/South Carolina football game.

:)Hi to all.   Again we had a very busy day.   The weather was  nice today and sunny and warm.  We got up early today and drove back up to our son's place which is two hours away.  The reason to go again was that my wife and her sisters were doing the joint birthday celebrations so they go out to a nice place for lunch and thenshare there gifts and a few hours together without there kids or husbands.  It is a tradition they have done for a few years.    The only thing I am sure getting tired of being on the highway.

Larry:  Glad to here the surgery went o.k. but I hope that your daughter feels better.

Janet:  I bet that you enjoyed your day of.  I think that you work far to hard you have to slow down. :)

Well it's time to go to bed  God bless to all and have a wonderful day in the Lord house. <3

I don't want to think about it!  I don't want to think about it!  Cold weather, that is.  But God promises us seasons so we know that cold weather is on the way.

Not much happened since I posted last evening.

Larry, so glad that Pat's foot surgery is over but so sorry to hear Stacey is once again in the hospital.  Bless her heart!

Can't wait to see little Caleb!
