JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

I Love to Tell the Story
(Click to hear music)

Let me tell you what He has done for me.
Psalm 66:16

Words: A. Katherine Hankey, 1866. The lyrics are similar to those of Tell Me the Old, Old Story. Both come from Hankey's poem "The Old, Old Story"

Music: William G. Fischer, Joyful Songs, Nos. 1 to 3 (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: Methodist Episcopal Book Room, 1869).

I love to tell the story of unseen things above,
Of Jesus and His glory, of Jesus and His love.
I love to tell the story, because I know 'tis true;
It satisfies my longings as nothing else can do.

Refrain

I love to tell the story, 'twill be my theme in glory,
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

I love to tell the story; more wonderful it seems
Than all the golden fancies of all our golden dreams.
I love to tell the story, it did so much for me;
And that is just the reason I tell it now to thee.

Refrain

I love to tell the story; 'tis pleasant to repeat
What seems, each time I tell it, more wonderfully sweet.
I love to tell the story, for some have never heard
The message of salvation from God's own holy Word.

Refrain

I love to tell the story, for those who know it best
Seem hungering and thirsting to hear it like the rest.
And when, in scenes of glory, I sing the new, new song,
'Twill be the old, old story that I have loved so long.

Refrain

Hi everyone.  Just back from coffee and a quick trip to the post office and a stop at the bank to make a deposit for the organization for which I serve as treasurer.  We had a nice visit yesterday over lunch with our friends who recently moved from our community.  He had gotten a positive report from his doctor and he is looking so much better.  I will take Pat to her physical therapy session in about an hour.  If I drive then she can take a pain pill before she goes and that helps.  This evening I have a business meeting to attend, my next to last one as my three year term ends at the end of December.  I had an email from my son in the middle of the night saying my DIL was spending the night in the hospital and that he would call us today.  They were to do a test, an endoscopy, I believe this morning as she has inflammation of her stomach. A couple of years ago she had a gastric bypass operation.  The sun is out this morning but still a possibility of rain before the day is over.

Pat, does Paul enjoy camping?  I doubt your plants would complain about the additional moisture.  :)  Hope your shoulder is feeling better each day.

Etta Sue, you shouldn't be so stingy with your blood.  :)  I have begun to have a problem when they try to get my blood and my right arm at the elbow still is trying to heal the terrible bruise from an attempt to dry blood several weeks ago.  It sounds like you got your walking in while at the hospital.

Marilyn, I hope your enjoyed your first day as a volunteer.  You are so caring of animals that you should be a natural.  I see you really enjoyed the work.

Carol, it sounds like you all are really looking forward to a lovely vacation.  This should be a great time of the year to travel.  Nice of your neighbor to fix that type of meal for you.

Judy, I remember how hard the work was in splitting logs for the fire when I was a young man.  I can't image it for someone who isn't really young anymore.  Hope Kassie passed her test.  I am glad you could enjoy the highspeed internet for a little while.

Thank you for the warm welcome.

Know that I am here; just "listening" but there are so many postings when I come in that I have no time to respond in writing.(only have limited computer time)

But I do remember all in prayer--some weeks here the prayer list is so very long...

That is when I go to Manna for the Soul and post a few of my favorite bible study messages in the hope that they help others as they do me.

Please put my mom in your prayers again, she went through one surgery quite well but we had to cancel another surgery because she had lost 8 lbs in three months and doctor wants her to "bulk up" before more surgery, even though it is very, very minor.

So I sent my hubby to her house with chocolate flavored Ensure in hopes that that will help.

Bye for now and bless you

joyce robson

By the way, Marilyn, so very happy you are feeling better with your vertigo.

I was most interested in hearing about your therapy since I have had BVP since my  20's.

Very glad to see that they have newer treatments for the dizziness...

Stay well, the "furry" ones need you...My daughter in law and son have been rescuing for years.  We now have 6 in the shop and three more rescued this weekend. DIL works for vet who does all surgery "out of the goodness of his heart" and then my kids take care of them here in our shop till new homes are found..They have dogs at home, so our shop looks like "rescue center..."

I couldn't sleep last night.  I kept going over my menu for Euchre at my house Sept 21.  Got it all settled and many things may be done ahead of time!

It got so dark here a few minutes ago.  The radio earlier announced that we are to have bad storms this afternoon.  Well, it rained for maybe 5 minutes and it getting lighter out now!  I don't know if that was it or not!

I was telling Ivalou about all my sticks yesterday and she looked at me like it was all my fault and said, I don't have a problem so why do you?!  If I could do anything that would help, I certainly would do it!  I have blood...just not big veins that they want to take my blood.  I see veins but that's not what they use!  My arms look like a war zone today!  Big dark blood bruises!!

Marilyn, it sounds like you have a volunteer job that is right down your alley!  I couldn't do it.  I am squeamish when it comes to anything hurting and at the sight of blood...especially not mine!

And yes, Larry, visiting our hospital is not for anyone that can't walk much or far!  They do have wheel chairs available at the doors but you can't navigate them yourself.  Someone has to push you.

I guess it is about time for lunch.

I've really enjoyed the postings tonight I was SHOCKED when I realized it had been so long since I was here.

First, a couple of days of feeling terrible and staying mostly in bed. Then, some really busy days.

So, it's good to be here, and good to know that today my son's medical care was brought up to date. It's so hard for him to drive when he has those terrible headaches, so I took the day specifically with him.

There was lots of sitting and waiting, going to another doctor, sitting and waiting, etc., but we ended up eating his first meal of the day after 3 pm at one of my favorite Thai restaurants. His blood work was for "fasting after midnight", so he was SO thankful when we finally could go to the lab. :)

Now, weary mom is signing off, thanking God for His goodness to each of us.

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

It seems my email notification didn't work, again.  But anyway, here I am, after going to Google to find our place.

Ruth Ann, so sorry you had sick days.  Shouldn't happen to such a wonderful warrior of God.  Glad you got your son's care on track, that must be a big relief to you.

Marilyn, glad you're enjoying the 'clinic' work with the animals.  Not my cup of tea, but so needed.  My volunteer service right now is writing the articles for the paper on the care home residents.  Isn't it wonderful that God gave each of us the talents, abilities, and desires that, all together, make everything work?

Larry, I hope your better days continue!  Also that your daughter-in-law gets along well, with no further problems.

Etta Sue, I feel for you!  Only one time have I ever had to be stuck a second time, and I was not a happy camper!  I think six times might have had me threatening to leave!  Hope your bruises heal quickly!

Pat, so good to see more posts from you!  Love and miss you, girl.

We spent the day yesterday driving to the VA hospital in Amarillo for Darrel's audio appointment.  They have a new gal there, and she changed the ear things on his hearing aids, adjusted them and got them to working correctly.  Now I hope he will wear them more faithfully, so I don't have to shout at him!

After the appointment, we met Darrel's sister Dolores and her husband, Norman, at Lin's Grand Buffet for lunch.  We had the best visit we've had with them in ages!!  Need to do that more often.  Seems a 400 mile RT is a bit much for a few minutes' visit, though.  So we try to see them when we are in town.  Dolores told Darrel she had a new dachshund, so we had to drive out to their house to meet Trixie! Darrel says he doesn't really want to get another dog, but I think he is trying to convince himself.

Joyce, good to see you!

Carol, glad you and Don get to go again!  We have the Cape Cod bus trip with the Hugoton seniors coming up; leaving on the 20th.  They have TWO big buses full of people going!

We are leaving tomorrow for Nebraska for a siblings reunion, be back on Monday.

I have been ---the word gags me to say it---sick.  I hate being sick in any way!  But I think the lack of sleep caused it.  I have a fever, sore throat and general blah.  AND I have to go to Hugoton today and speak at Rotary about my book.  Prayers appreciated!

Beth seems to be over the UTI now and she and John are enjoying each other so much.  How I praise God for John!

If I have missed anyone, please know I love you--I must pray a while, then go to Pat's for hair fixing before heading to Hugoton.

Love you all!

Hi everyone on an overcast morning.  I was able to sleep late this morning, which was enjoyable, as I had stayed up and watched the pro football game last night.  This morning I have watched several really good videos that people had sent to me.  Nothing on the schedule for today.  The business meeting I attended last evening went very well but I was glad to get home and not need to drive any further in the dark.  Our DIL was diagnosed with an ulcer in her stomach yesterday but the test was done late and so they kept her a second night in the hospital.  Hope she will get to go home today.

Joyce, nice to see your posting today.  Is the "shop" a veterinary clinic?  Hope your mom does well and gains some weight.

Etta Sue, glad you didn't get those bad storm.

Ruth Ann, hope you are feeling better.  Glad your son was able to see the doctors and know he appreciated your help.

Janet, I had another good day yesterday (three in a row) so am optimistic that this will be the situation most days in the future.  I am feeling like I did before the pacemaker was replaced.  I still rest a lot but that is fine.  So sorry to read that you are not feeling well.  Hope your speech goes well and you sell a lot of books.

Jeanne Lee

I think I've fallen into a nest of gypsies!  Seems like so many of our friends here are traveling, or making plans to travel, or are almost constantly on the go.   :o   I guess I did my share of that in times past, but now I'm just happy to hunker down at home and enjoy everyone else's travelogues.

I wish I was traveling somewhere but I am content to stay at home and getting out maybe 10-15 miles.  Seems there is always something to do and even doing nothing is something!

I slept soooo good last night.  I even surprised myself.

I have had my breakfast and have read my devotions.  I have a top that I need to re-do so I can wear it and maybe finish a book.  I opened the front door and now I am thinking I might just go to the basement and get my power washer and get the deck washed!  That's a fun job and each swipe of the wand shows you have accomplished something!

So who knows what I will do.  I have my Sunday School lesson done.  My menu for Euchre is done.  My grocery list is made.  Need to decide when to mow so that my yard will look nice for Euchre.  Hmmm!  Maybe power wash and mow today!

Ruth Ann Bice

Well, I think I must have "power washed" me this morning! ;)

At least, I felt more empowered when dressed and ready to go.

Am back from working with a friend, and now have "homework" for this afternoon and evening.

At any rate, isn't it great that God knows just what we need, and He provides it in His own loving way.

Love to all of you,
Ruth Ann

I felt considerably better while on the way to Hugoton, while there, and coming back.  Now my throat is hurting again, so guess I better find a remedy for that.  Prayer is the very best remedy!  But I'm not against a throat soothing cough drop, either!

Thanks, Larry.  I think my talk went pretty well, though I didn't feel I was at my best---and about a third of the attendees bought books.  And one man chased me down outside to give me a donation.  I told him I will use it to get a book into someone's hands who otherwise couldn't afford one.  So I was blessed today.

Hi, Jeanne!

Need to run to the paper and get some photos off my card--more for the stores I am doing.

Well, we have a brand new great-granddaughter, Jennavieve Nicole, born this evening at 5:04 and weighing in at 7 Lbs. 1 oz. She has two older sisters, Alexis and Chelsea.  I can't wait to hold her, but won't get to see her until we return from Nebraska.   :(

Hello everyone I pray all is well with everyone.  My son is playing football tonight, he is the starting center and starting defense right tackle.  His name is Larry is was made team Captain tonight.  I have heard the score yet so I'll update later.  I have been reading the book , " The Virtuous Woman" by Vicki Courtney. Absolutely amazing.  Here's a quote :

President John Adams once said , " From all that I had read of history and government of human life and manners, I had drawn this conclusion, that the manners of women are the most infallible barometer to ascertain the degree of morality and virtue of a nation."

Update on the game 14 to 0 , my sons team the Flyers are winning.  Larry has gotten two great tackles.  I will post later to let you know the final score. Sorry just a proud Momma

Prayers for all, Marlo

So I said I would give an update on my sons football game is  Flyers 14 to 6. We won,  and the LORD blessed us for keeping all the players on both sides. Thanks for reading about a game of a 13 year old.

Marlo.  You can always talk to me about the children.    Love their experiences.   Good job,

Ruth Ann. You are up and about now. Wonderful.

We are in Bend , Oregon.  Lost the way right in the town when the signs changed. Got a motel room. Had a salad and waked down to the river. Over 1000 miles in two days not bad for us on the back roads.  Weather is fine.

We give thanks for an uneventful drive.

Using the stylus Don made for me      So sleepy and it is too early.

Take care everyone.

Marilyn

When I got to work today there were to beautiful Pit bulls on the operating table. The big older male was a Blue Brindle,  Absolutely beautiful and I got to take care of them when they came out of surgery. The other was a 6 month old black and white female and she was as big as he was.  Beautiful Dogs. I had both of them on the recovery bed at the same time. there was one big fellow this morning that was over 120 lbs and the Doctor had to operate on him o n the floor because no one could get him up on the table.

Hi everyone.  It is a nice morning here in Georgia.  After coffee at the Senior Center a couple of friends and I walked a bit in the park.  This is the first time I have tried to walk like this since I had my new pacemaker put in.  I did well except needed to sit down and rest about half way around.  I am very encouraged.  Pat told me yesterday afternoon that her physical therapy session today will be at 1 pm rather than 11:30 am so I am going to attend the ROMEO's men's luncheon at 11:30.  We usually meet for about 1 hour so I can leave at 12:30 and get home in time to get her to her 1pm appointment.  Nothing else on the schedule for today.

Jeanne, I am like you in being satisfied to stay home and not travel.  Trips to Atlanta to see Stacey or for doctor appointments is about all the travel we can handle right now.

Etta Sue, you may be the only person I have ever know who liked using a power washer.  :)  It sounds like you have things under control.

Ruth Ann, glad to read you were feeling better and active yesterday.

Janet, sounds like you had a most successful talk and sale of your books.  Congratulations great grandmother with the new great graddaughter.

Pat,  see you and Paul are keeping the roads busy in September.  Glad that Paul's brother will be able to visit with you and see your beautiful new home on the mountain.

Marlo, it sounds like you have a very talented son and nice to read there were no injuries on either side.  Interesting quote from John Adams.  Have you read the John Adams book by  David McCullough.  It is a very interesting book about both he and Abilgal, who was quite a woman.

Carol, glad to see you checking in from Oregon.  That is a lot of miles to travel in two days.

Marilyn, those were big dogs.  I am sure you gave them good care.

Etta Sue

Congratulations, Larry, on your team win!  I have only seen two live football games in my life.  Greenfield High School and Hanover College.  One was too noisy...too many kids and the other I about froze to death!

Well, I did not get the top re-done and I am still reading my book.  But the deck is nice and white but it wasn't fun!  I shouldn't have done it in the heat of the afternoon.  I think I sweat a gallon and kept taking breaks.  I wish there was a way to keep the wand working without gripping the handle!  My arms started hurting and my neck from looking down all the time.  But it is all done even though I was beginning to this I overdid it!

Then I came in the house and caught up again on the computer.

Then I headed to the garage and started mowing the grass!  Some of my yard was tall grass...some still short.  Well, the grass wasn't as tall as the crab grass!  But an hour and fifteen minutes, it was done.  Again, I think I sweated a gallon.

It was after 7pm when I was done.  So I showered and then fixed popcorn for supper!  I noticed that Parker was mowing Ivalou's yard so all three of us have newly mowed lawns!

And soon after dark, it was lightening and thundering and then heavy rain!  Glad I mowed.  We lost satellite so I went to bed.  Tossed and turned...I think I was too tired.  I even went to the front bedroom...kept hearing a roaring and then realized it was my own blood rushing through my veins!!  How weird is that?  And it was too light in that room so I went back to the other bedroom.  Finally after 2am I went to sleep!

Today Ivalou and I are getting our haircut.  She really cut mine short so I just want the top trimmed today.  It is finally doing what I want it too after 4 weeks!!  My 3-4 inches was her 2-3 inches!  Then Ivalou wants to go to WalMart.

This evening Marge is taking Ivalou, Jane, me and maybe Betty to a Fish Fry in a little town north of us.  Sounds delish!

Carol

Welcome Linda!!!!  I hope you come into this part of the site.

Pat:  We are on the Oregon coast and have set up our schedule for the time here so there is so much to do and see - we do hope the fog lifts a little now.  We are one day ahead of schedule so Don is napping right now.  It is foggy and we want to get to the beach and walk as much as possible.  We had a lunch of clam chowder in Lincoln City - mmmmmm good.  A man saw our license plates and wanted to talk politics - he was from Oklahoma and lives here for years.

This place has a laundry room so that will be super and they have a fireplace room with coffee at the entrance - guess where we will park ourselves later?  Of course, the day we left Colorado, the temperature dropped to a more reasonable number so that is great to hear but we sure could have used it a few weeks ahead of time.

Larry:  So good to read that you are doing laps again - resting is fine and a wise thing to do.

Etta Sue:  I can relate to freezing from watching hockey games with the children and so forth.  Power washing is a real chore - aren't you glad it is over?

Oh, I wanted to mention something about Don and I going to a movie before we left - 2016, not that it matters.  But this has happened to me before - only us two people in the entire row & no one near us when two women came and sat right next to us.  We almost laughed out loud - somehow, we just draw people in.  No matter where we sit, people come and sit near us - even at the doctor's office.  It is a family joke.

Etta Sue:  Diamonds and roses are lovely.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

It's been a good day with working on picking up mail for my son who has been out of town interviewing, went to the bank (Nooooooo money in my billfold). ;)

So, it's good to be able to swing by the automatic teller machine from time to time.

Also, I got a haircut too, Etta Sue. Will be interested to see how it behaves after my shower tonight.

Well, now's the time to rest and thank God for a good day.

Marlo, one of my sons played football beginning in middle school, so I understand the anxious feelings we get when our sons play.

Now, to head to bed for a long night's rest this evening.
