We are just home from Garden City, where we spent the day.  Darrel had an early appointment at the eye doctor's, for the pre-op  on his left eye.  He will have the cataract removed from that eye on Friday.  We had a bunch of other things to do, so just took our time and got them done.  Now we are both tired and sleepy, so I expect it will be early to bed for us!

Etta Sue, I really like that Valentine's  Day graphic!  Nice!  Glad you're having a good time, but sorry about the scratchy throat, hope it goes away soon.

GORD--sorry I missed your call yesterday.  I was away longer than expected, so I didn't know whether or not to call you back, as thought you might be away yourself by then. 

Larry, I wanted to go paint, as that is my stress reliever once a month, and I thought the gal should have been looking for a replacement before the last minute!  So I said no (was rather proud of me, too!)   

While we were in Dr. Fry's office this morning, I sold another book!  There was another couple from Ulysses there, and they mentioned it, and I 'just happened' to have a couple copies in my lap at that moment!

Hi everyone.  We are expecting a much nicer day today.  This morning we will go to Bible study and the usual Wednesday morning activities.  I have a friend coming over for a bit later in the afternoon.

Carol  they do treat RLS but there is no cure.  I am on Meripex they use that for Parkinson also.  I take 4 mg a day.  My Pharmasist says he has never filled one that high before.  He always owes me pills because he never has enough.

We have a snowy day here today, and I'm sitting in Physio before heading out on the road. Fortunately it's only a one and a half hour drive one way. We'll be working with a teacher to set up iPod Touches in her classroom. It should be interesting as we figure out how to have things work with our computer systems.

Judy, I'm praying for your DIL. I had a car accident two years ago where I was rear ended and pushed into guard rails - and that's why i'm still having physio - whiplash, back, and now shoulder. But I am getting better. The shoulder is being pretty stubborn but we haven't quit yet. I have a really good physiotherapist that I really like.

Yesterday we went to Walmart...not one pair of capris in my size and not one pair of sandals without being thongs that were flats!  So I came back with Halls cough drops.  My sore throat is gone...must have been just breathing dry air. 

Then I went to the pool for some exercise.  Then the neighbors down here who are neighbors at home also and us four went to Woody's BBQ restaurant.  I had a Sloppy Woody.  Delicious with baked sweet potato and cole slaw.

Later another couple came and we played Hand and Foot cards.  Fun day.

I got a call from a classmate saying another classmate had passed away yesterday morning.  She had suffered a lot in the past 4 months.

This morning the neighbors brought us breakfast.  We all had egg casserole, fried potatoes with onions, sausage links and orange rolls with coffee.  Yum! 

Janet and I are going to the pool in a few minutes and then this evening about 4-5 couples are going to Troyer's Amish Buffet.  I know it's good...ate there last time here.  If they don't have it, you don't need it! 

I have been knitting dish clothes while here.  I have made 5 so far and give them to the ladies.  I would like to make two more before leaving but I don't know if that will be done or not!  I can always give Barb hers when she gets back to Indiana.

Etta Sue, it sounds as if you are having a wonderful time!  Good for you!

I'm trying to get the house all tidied up before my dear sister Shirley arrives.  I'm not sure what time she and her daughter might get here.

Do you remember the sweet 16 year old boy who has such a heart for Beth?  Well, yesterday, his parents came to see Beth, bringing her balloons and a rose.  The card said, "from Adonus and family"  (That is the way they spell his name.)  I am just astounded what a heart this boy has for Beth.  I plan to write about this on my website, will give more details there.

It's pretty windy here and pretty chilly, too.

Janet - just a word from someone who has had cataract surgery on both eyes. It's quick, painless, almost always very successful.  God bless.

Al!  Good to see you!  Thanks for the good wishes for Darrel.  He's already hadI also had cataract surgery, and isn't it wonderful what they can do now?

My sister and neice are here, praise the Lord!  So I need to visit with them while I can!

Hi everyone.  We had a most glorious day yesterday as the weather was perfect.  Today is still to be reasonably warm but we have an 30 percent chance of rain.  I have to make the trip to Atlanta today to have my pacemaker checked and then have an afternoon appointment at the car dealership to see if they can find what is causing my problems with it initially starting without removing the key and opening the door and then putting the key back in and closing the door, which seems to reset things.  I hope I won't have to spend all afternoon to have it checked out.

Marlo, our daughter, who has neuropathy in her legs also has restless leg and so know it isn't a pleasant thing to have. 

Betty, hope your project to set up the iPod Touches has gone well.  I had one of those for a couple of years that I really liked but when I got my smart phone is duplicated most of the apps so I gave the Touch to our daughter, who really loves it.  Sorry to hear of your continued pain from the whiplash.

Etta Sue, it seems that a change in climate usually messes up our sinuses or results in a cold.  Sounds like you had a good breakfast from a very nice neighbor.

Janet, it sounds like the young boy has good role models in his parents.  Glad they could bring some joy to Beth. Enjoy your visit with your family. 

Al, as always good to see your posting as it is to see the postings from Marilyn and Jeanne. 

Yesterday, Janet and I went to the pool.  Ivalou went with us to take a shower....more room there than Kaye Don's tiny shower.  Also there is a shower seat. 

Then at 3:30 we went to the Amish Buffet in Sarasota.  There were 10 of us there.  Then back to Kathy and Jr's to play Hand and Foot...Women at one table and men at the other table. 

I have one more dishcloth about done.  Then I am putting the bag of yarn in the car. 

Today is our last day here.  Ivalou's protime was in the norm but we will stay tonight and leave early in the morning.  Kaye Don seems to think if we leave by 7am, we will be through Atlanta before rush hour so that is my plan! 

I don't know what is in store for us today other than loading the car of whatever we won't need tonight.

Barb started a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle after we got here...it will be done today!! 

Larry I have never heard of neuropathy what is that?  Does that involve pitted edema in the legs?  Thank you for all the support. 

I have been fighting my different illnesses for some time now.  The RLS I am on the highest dose they every perscribe and it is no longer working.  The was a patch called Nu pro that I took for a while and it worked wonderfully and they stopped making it.  So back to the Meripex.  For my Migraines I take 400 mg of topamax a day 200 mg in the morning and 200 mg at night.  I am now taking an altitude sickness medicine because I keep building up fluid behind my eyes.  The is a few other things but that is just to name a few.
At first I was confused as to why.  Then I remember that the LORD says it is not our place to ask why, so I am now asking what he wants me to do with it.  Have have meet some amazing people in the doctors waiting room and I am able to give my testimony and if nothing else I am able to pray for that person and for their family and situation.  And when the LORD sees fit to take all this away or call me home I am ready either way. 

JudyB what is that song:  something something either way should I go or should I stay..  Homework for JudyB LOL

We have snow and lots coming down today.  The more we get at this point the better.  We need it to keep the water table up.

God willing, my discharge date has now been set for the 24th at 1PM.  So that's what we're aiming at.  I am a little apprehensive, inasmuch as I haven't lived at home in many months.  I'll have questions like how to get into and out of some chairs and the bed.  What to do when I have to get up and go to the bathsroom at night, etc. Please pray about these things.  Thank you all for your prayers - God is pleased to use them in accomplishing His blessed will.

Al We all are continuing to pray for you.  I'm wondering if there is a contraption you could pull on to accomplish those things?

Hi everyone.  I don't usually read the postings until morning but decided to stop in tonight before going to bed.  It was a busy day.  It rained, usually a light misty type rain that created a lot of road spray while driving, but didn't have any difficulty in going to Atlanta or getting back home.  My pacemaker/defib check took only about 10 minutes or so and I have enough voltage left in the battery for at least another three months and will be checked again in May at which time the device will probably need to be replaced as the battery will be in that range.  It was 0.01 volt from the elective replacement point but after that is reached there is a three month safety reserve so it doesn't stop working immediately.  From there I went to the car dealership and they found the problem was with the battery cable on one side that was not fitting as it should.  They fixed the problem and did not charge me even though it wasn't a problem with the car per se as they had not installed the new battery.  I am very much relieved to have that problem behind me and know it wasn't anything to do with the car.  I didn't get home until fairly late in the afternoon and was able to rest only a short time.

Marlo, my daughter is a severe diabetic and the neuropathy is related to that.  Diabetic neuropathy is damage to nerves in the body that occurs due to high blood sugar levels from diabetes.  Rather than trying to explain it let me refer you to a webpage that provides a concise explanation of its many effects. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001713/ It has affected her legs and her stomach most noticeably but she also has had seven heart attacks and a condition in one of her feet related called Charcot Foot which has put her on crutches and a power chair to be able to get around.  There is a lot of pain involved in her legs and feet and it is beginning to appear in her hands.  I can certainly relate to the migraines as suffered them for many years but haven't now for probably the last 20 years or so.  Both of my children also experience them and my dad and grandfather had them until they reached a certain age. 

Etta Sue, tomorrow is suppose to be a nice day here in the Atlanta area so hopefully you won't experience any major problems getting through Atlanta.  It seems that your visit has been very short but know you and Ivalou have enjoyed your trip.

Judy, it is nice not to have a lot of snow but it serves a necessary purpose to replenish the earth with vital water as you well know. 

Al, I can understand your concern about having to get along with the assistance of a medical staff when you get home but sure you will get the aids and tools you need to manage.  I expect home will look mighty good to you. 

Jeanne, that fretting just never accomplishes a thing other than getting us upset.  Each day we are living God's plan for our lives and he provides what we need to endure during those rough times that we all experience in various stages of life.

Hi, friends, I'm back online. The visit with my kids and granddaughters was a good one, but by the time I got back here late yesterday and then had a 6 pm appointment, I HAD to rest most of today.

Also, while I was gone, they apartment maintenance people did some work in my apartment and connected up the cable cord, but didn't plug in the electrical elements, so it was mighty quiet up here til they had time to come do it. The cord plug in is behind my piano and my short arms just wouldn't reach the outlet!

I won't respond except to say it's so good to see our newest participant, to see Al (wonderful news, and yes, a matter of concern - I understand since I had my knee replacement and didn't have any help afterward), to know Marlo's back in circulation again, happy birthday to Larry a bit late, etc.  Y'all please forgive me if I didn't mention you.

Larry, the ipod Touch project is coming along. The hardest part is working around the regulations and restrictions we have to have on them because of our computer system. But the students were pretty excited about getting them. I have an iPad and an iPhone through work, so am learning to use them. Our schools have PCs so this is part of our difficulty. We have some good computer techs to work with, so I'm sure our glitches will get worked out.

It's mostly my shoulder that still isn't cleared up. My physiotherapist is trying to figure out what we need to do. There is improvement but it has been very slow. I have a lot more movement than I used to have.

Judy, we were up to Burk's Falls last night. We had to go to the funeral home (my husband's aunt) and so we stopped in to see Dad. He is having his surgery today. One of these days we'll be up there long enough to be able to arrange a visit with you.

My goodness, how much better the world seems to me this morning - most likely because of the long rest yesterday.

It will be busy, so thought I'd speak to y'all before going out and about.

I suppose I may put on Etta Sue's "social butterfy" wings for a few hours. My former manager wants to meet with me about a work project for him, then 2 ladies and I will travel out to a lovely restaurant on the lake to celebrate a friend's birthday. At last count, I think about 12-14 will be there. What fun we should have!

Betty, my prayers this morning are for our Lord's will be done in your father's surgery and that He would bless and guide those who are participating in the surgery itself and in his recovery.

Jeanne Lee in the Bible the LORD states 365 times "Fear Not" once for each day.  Al, we all are praying and I pray for m dear brothers and sisters in Christ everyday. 

Larry the you for explaining and for the site, I have never heard of that I will add you children and their families to my prayers as well.  My father in law is a severe diabetic he is on dialysis's for 20 hours a day.  He has had a kidney transplant went into rejection and now is not healthy enough for a transplant.  He has also gone blind and almost lost all of his hearing.  This man is very special to me he has been more of a father to me in the last 25 years than my own has my whole life.  He even walked me down the isle .  I will never forget what He said to me before he walked me down down the isle.  HE said youngin' when we get down here and this is all said and down there are no in-laws in this family.  You will be my daughter weather you like it or not.  Then He took my hand placed it in his arm and walked me down, the isle.

I got to here him say that again about a year ago when his kidney shut down My husband and his two sisters went to see if they were a match for a donor.  I was there I went to him and took this hand and placed it in my arm and said I wont try to.  He said because there are no in-laws in this family you are my daughter.  We were all texted and I was a match.  Three days later we got his test results saying he was not healthy enough.  We looked at each other and "Do not Fear"  and each day we call each other and before we hang up once of us says it to the other.

Well, Larry.  If I were a nervous person I would have caused a 100 car pile up on I-75 through Atlanta this afternoon.  We thought leaving Bradenton by 6:30am, we would avoid the afternoon rush hour....NOT!  And it didn't help that just north of downtown I had to go to the bathroom so bad!  I turned off on, I think, Moore Mill Road and went west...found a Wendy's about 4 miles from I-75.  TomTom recalculated and I was hoping it would find a way to Cartersville by way of back/side roads.  Nope...sent me right to I-285 and then I-75 north.  We were 32 miles away from the motel at Wendy's and 99.4% of that distance was bumper to bumper...stop...go...stop...go and cars changing lanes like they were ants in a farm!  Whew!  I made it! 

KDon and Barb found their card and gift card that we hid under the runner on the dining room table.  She wrote on FB about it and said she found it when cleaning off the table to play cards tonight! 

We are in the same motel as going down.  At least we don't have to get up early tomorrow since we know we have a bed when we get home! 

It was foggy north of Tampa and sprinkled some on us but this afternoon was bright and sunny! 

We had a very nice time in Florida with Barb, K Don and others from home.  Too short of a visit but I imagine Jane will be glad not to have to feed my fur girls!!
