Morning Devotional...

Psalm 52

Wickedness always hates righteousness.  That's why those who carry in their souls the great burden of their own rebellion against God hate those who have experienced forgiveness.  Guilt always does that - it produces hatred toward innocence, a desire to be rid of those whose very existence make the guilt worse by contrast.

The morning worship song before us recognizes that common problem, the problem of hatred that places the justified, righteous man in danger from the unrighteous.  It's a song of assurance for the saints of God who have to live in a sinfully hostile world.

It begins with God's indictment against the rebellious.  He says to them, "Why do you boast in evil, O mighty man? The goodness of God endures continually.  Your tongue devises destruction, like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.  You love evil more than good, lying rather than speaking righteousness.  You love all devouring words, you deceitful tongue!"

The problem is that the "rebellious" are failures!  They can't win, because God's goodness to the righteous stands like a mighty mountain, unmoved by all their hostility. It continues even in the midst of their persecution of the godly, even when in their hatred they attempt to "devour" them.  They can't win, and, on top of that, they're personally doomed forever!

Unless there's repentance, there's just one sure end for it all. The song expresses that terrible end when it says, "He shall take you away, and pluck you out of your dwelling place, and uproot you from the land of the living!"  Oh the self-deceived souls of fallen men! What an awful and certain doom they face!

The worshippers of the Lord, on the other hand, sing, "The righteous also shall see and fear, and shall laugh at him, saying, 'Here is the man who did not make God his strength!" As they look about them and observe the unrepentant those who are redeemed by the Lord will experience awe and reverential fear when they behold the justice of God upon these persistent sinners.  After all, they themselves could have experienced that same justice.  But they'll also "laugh" at their persecutors because they'll finally be safe from them, finally be freed from the terrors of this fallen world!

The redeemed can look forward to that final end and sing, "But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God - I will praise You forever, because You have done it, and in the presence of Your saints I will wait on Your Name, for it is good."  God's people can absolutely trust Him for a definite and final victory over the evil of this world!

How about you?  Do some people taunt you?  Are there even some who hate you and try, sometimes very hard, to drag you down to their level, or, failing that, to get rid of you?  Don't give in.  God's goodness hasn't ceased.  A blessedly perfect end is still before you!

Let's sing about our refuge.

Beneath the Cross of Jesus
(Click to hear music)

May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Galatians 6:14

Words: Elizabeth C. Clephane, 1868; published posthumously in the Family Treasury, a Scottish Presbyterian magazine, in 1872, titled "Breathing on the Border." The magazine's editor, W. Arnot, wrote: These lines express the experiences, the hopes and the longings of a young Christian lately released. Written on the very edge of life, with the better land fully in view of faith, they seem to us footsteps printed on the sands of time, where these sands touch the ocean of Eternity. These footprints of one whom the Good Shepherd led through the wilderness into rest, may, with God's blessing, contribute to comfort and direct succeeding pilgrims.

Music: "St. Christopher," Frederick C. Maker, in the Bristol Tune Book, 1881

Beneath the cross of Jesus I fain would take my stand,
The shadow of a mighty rock within a weary land;
A home within the wilderness, a rest upon the way,
From the burning of the noontide heat, and the burden of the day.

O safe and happy shelter, O refuge tried and sweet,
O trysting place where Heaven's love and Heaven's justice meet!
As to the holy patriarch that wondrous dream was given,
So seems my Savior's cross to me, a ladder up to heaven.

There lies beneath its shadow but on the further side
The darkness of an awful grave that gapes both deep and wide
And there between us stands the cross two arms outstretched to save
A watchman set to guard the way from that eternal grave.

Upon that cross of Jesus mine eye at times can see
The very dying form of One Who suffered there for me;
And from my stricken heart with tears two wonders I confess;
The wonders of redeeming love and my unworthiness.

I take, O cross, thy shadow for my abiding place;
I ask no other sunshine than the sunshine of His face;
Content to let the world go by to know no gain or loss,
My sinful self my only shame, my glory all the cross.

Thank you Al for this devotional.  So many times you can't help but cry out to God when the world gets to you.

I am always crying out for HIM --Why?? Because I know that HE is always there for me...and that's all I need to know to get me by is "just knowing that HE is there".

We decided to take the house off the market for awhile.  The stress of selling in a down market was way to much to handle especially when everyone who sees it loves my victorian home and know that the price is just right but they still can't get a mortgage.

I pulled the ad and put it on my facebook page for anyone who wanted to see my victorian home that I was telling you about..

we are in Penna. enjoying the mountains, lake and just resting..Hubby out in boat and when he is finish fishing, I will go out for a cruise down the two lakes.

Happy holiday to all

AL:  Thank you for devotions and the lovely song - it has been a long time since hearing that song.  How is Marbeth?  And, you never talk about your legs anymore so I hope that issue is over.

Be sure to look over Marilyn's pictures

Larry:  I am so glad that you got another stent in place.  It has to help, doesn't it?  our friend had six stents put in last week & he feels so much better.  Isn't it strange that the arteries just keep on getting clogged?  Hugs to you.

Time to fix dinner here.  Belated Happy Fourth to all USA - keep praying for this nation to turn around.

Oh, how great, and awesome pixs.

Yes, I agree we  need a lot of prayers to turn this world around...

Hoping everyone is feel better and getting stronger each day.

I Know Who Holds Tomorrow
(Hold the CTL key down and Click to hear music)

"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus."
Hebrews 12:2

Words & Music: by Ira F. Stanphill

I don't know about tomorrow; I just live from day to day.
I don't borrow from its sunshine for its skies may turn to gray.
I don't worry o'er the future for I know what Jesus said;
And, today, I'll walk beside Him for He knows what is ahead.

Refrain
Many things about tomorrow, I don't seem to understand.
But, I know Who holds tomorrow, and I know Who holds my hand!

Every step is getting brighter as the golden stairs I climb.
Every burden's getting lighter; every cloud is silver-lined.
There the sun is always shining; there no tear will dim the eye.
At the ending of the rainbow where the mountains touch the sky.

Refrain
Many things about tomorrow, I don't seem to understand.
But, I know Who holds tomorrow, and I know Who holds my hand!

I don't know about tomorrow; it may bring me poverty.
But, the One who feeds the sparrow is the One who stands by me.
And, the path that is my portion may be through the flame or flood,
But, His presence goes before me and I'm covered with His blood.

Refrain
Many things about tomorrow, I don't seem to understand.
But, I know Who holds tomorrow, and I know Who holds my hand!

We are in a motel in Amarillo, and their WiFi sure isn't very good.  I just lost my whole post.  Please pray for Darrel.  We are to be at the hospital at 6 AM tomorrow.  More to follow.

hello everyone:  we were away for the weekend which was enjoyable but so many things are just not the same as this was my brother's cottage. It was good because I did find out some things as well.

upon arriving back home a phone message from out son, telling us that a farming neighbour from the past was killed in a terrible  farm accident (crushed)

we are experiencing very hot and humid weather and in fact a good portion of Toronto is without hydro. the king & queen are here and infact they are in the area without hydro interesting.

Janet:  Prayers for Darrel today.

Ruth:  Farming is still a dangerous occupation - so sorry about your news of a former neighbor.  Am sure they will have a generator backup for any place the Queen may be staying.  Isn't she a poster board for longevity and stamina?

Nothing to report other than I am missing something and once again turning the house upside down.  It will be 90* F here today and cooler tomorrow.

Growing Up Yanomamö :

Missionary Adventures in the Amazon Rainforest

2010 Biography Book of the Year

Deep in the Amazon rainforest lives the last stone-aged tribe in the world. Their lives are centered around the witchdoctor, or shaman, who cavorts with evil spirits and leads their people into fatal massacres, tribe against tribe. The NY Times describes Growing Up Yanomamö as "Huck Finn with an Amazon twist." However, the missions work with the Yanomamö has been hotly debated for decades. Mike's parents have lived with the Yanomamö since the early 1950s, first with New Tribes Mission and now with Mission Padamo. Mike has first-hand knowledge of the changes that have taken place within the tribe and also with the government from the time of his birth until now.

I heard this young man on Focus on the family,  The story is amazing.  Have any of you read it?

Great photos, Marilyn.  I remember being at Sea Lion Cave a couple of times.  I have that same photo taken out of the 'window' of the cave.  I remember hearing them bellowing outside and, of course, the smell.  Not pleasant but necessary for the sea lions.

I got the birthday card and gift to Betty yesterday.  Also the gas containers for the lawn mower are filled.  Also went after 3 items at Dollar General and came back with twenty and they didn't have one of the three I went after!!

Then last night was an awesome church council meeting.  We tended to try to do things on our own until one man let us know that we don't change our commitment to God, we pray for leadership and decisions that are pleasing to Him.

I talked to Gord on the phone yesterday.  Love hearing his Scottish accent!  Very nice talk.  So hello Gord!!

Today is a do nothing day.  Kitty and Bob are car shopping.  Ivalou has company.  It's too hot for much of anything other than sitting in the A/C keeping cool!  See, Gord, I can be un-busy!  ;)

Etta Sue the smell wasn't bad, maybe because they have ventilated the caves somehow plus there weren't that many Sea Lions  around at the time we were there.  There were more out in the sun on that ledge where the Bull was preaching to his harem.

I have been to the Fitness center, done a load of dark laundry that is in the dryer now, made my Green Pepper jelly ( Had to do it over because it didn't set) I have a Photoshop lesson on Clone stamping that is overdue. thank goodness Jeanne is my mod.

I need to vacuum the small master bedroom, I am expecting  an internet friend from SF to come for a visit later in the month and  want that room  spic and span. I think Grubby maybe have  pee'd in there I smelled something yesterday. So I better get busy.

Thanks for the prayers, friends!  Darrel was in surgery for an hour and a half.  Things went really well, and he isn't in much pain.  He's eating, napping, watching TV--almost like he was home!  ;)

The hospital's internet is much better than at the motel.  Dr. says he will likely keep Darrel for two nights, so looks as if we will be going home on Thursday.

I am so sleepy after two bad nights and early morning risings.  Yawn!  I think I will get in that recliner over there and try to take a nap.

Janet:   Thanks for the good news.

Carol:   Many areas now have generators and yes they did have one but dinner plans were changed in that they brought the meals in from several locations.  The Royal Visitors took it all in stride.

Another hot one here today.   Thank goodness for air conditioners.

I had a phone call from our daughter and she has been on the sick list but seems to be on the mend after seeing a walk in doctor.

Mel has just got home from spending time with our son and now it is time to get dinner/supper ready.
Oh yes I must say that the mouse went on strike, replacing the batteries was all that was needed.

Dr. Bordelon was just in and said he might take the catheter out and dismiss Darrel tomorrow!  That would be good........but we just want to do whatever is best for Darrel!  He didn't bleed nearly as much as the doctor expected, nor is he bleeding much at all now.  He is on "high octane" antibiotics and they are flushing water through him.  Dr. hopes this will take care of the problems of the recurring infections.

Yesterday Darrel took me to Michaels, and I got my scrapbooking fix.  ;)  Nobody else seems to carry the additional pages for some of the scrapbooks, so I got those and they also had some neat stuff on sale!  For my birthday, Pat got me two new scrapbooks which she thought would be nice for my Guatemala and Costa Rica photos.  I almost have Guatemala done!  Now, aren't you glad you have that valuable information?

If I knew how, I would post a video of the dive on my birthday!

I think soon I will go to the motel.  Hanging around a hospital is not a fun way to spend time.  But I am glad I can be here with my honey.

Everybody must be busy or sleeping in this morning!  The doctor was in early and removed Darrel's catheter, so as soon as he can void, we will be heading back to Kansas!  God is SO good, ALL the time!

Larry, I hope you will ask the strong men who deliver your beds if they can please move the heavy, bulky headboard upstairs for you.  I'm thinking they wouldn't mind doing that.  Anyway, I hope so.  We asked the guys who delivered a new king sized mattress to move the old one upstairs, and they did, no charge.

Darrel is not to do anything for two weeks, and has two jobs he needs to finish, so I may be an alarm tech for a while.  Curtis is home for a few days, so he will probably be helping.

See you later!

Kitty and I were going swimming.  She called and said that she was taking Bob to the doctor...when he takes Tylenol he is in pain.  I suggested that he may need stronger pain pills that will knock him out so he will have complete rest and she said he wouldn't take them!!  He certainly hasn't rested.  He walks, goes, rides and up all hours doing things.  He isn't working but he isn't resting.

Anyway, I think I will go swimming by myself and then stop by Charlene and Tony's on the way home.  I haven't been to their home for months.  It would be nice to have time with Charlene and all the little kiddies that she watches.  I haven't done that for a long time!  Sounds like a plan to me.

Ivalou still has company.  I took her mail to her yesterday and no one was home.  So put her mail in the door.

Looks like a hot day out there.  I sure am glad I don't have to mow today!  Yesterday was our hottest day of the season.  Now it can cool off.   ::)

How does God show himself to you?

To the faithful you show yourself faithful; to those with integrity you show integrity. To the pure you show yourself pure, but to the wicked you show yourself hostile. You rescue those who are humble....As for God, his way is perfect. All the Lord's promises prove true....

Psalm 18:25-27,30 NLT

Faithful and dependable
A hot morning shower, a fresh cup of coffee. The lights in your kitchen and bathroom. What would you do if you were deprived of the basics of your dependable morning routine? Many of us would start shutting down. It's easy to take hot water and electricity for granted. The same is true of faithful love. It's easy to take for granted the person who is always there to listen to your problems. It's easy to take for granted the person you run to when you're frustrated or in trouble. It's even easier to take for granted God's faithful care for you and your family. Every day God sustains the world in which we move and live. He provides food, clothing, and opportunities for employment. Most important, he showers love and concern on us every day. Our God is a faithful God. He is entirely dependable.

That same type of faithful and dependable love is the foundation of every strong relationship. Love is cheap if it's given only when things are going fine. Our love for others must be consistent and dependable.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  This has been a very hot and a very busy day.  We attended Bible study this morning, then to the donut shop for some visiting.  Then, since today is our 48th anniversary, we went to Longhorn Steakhouse for lunch and had a very nice lunch.

I had called this morning and was able to get in at 2 pm to get my new crown seated and then at 3 pm for the 6-month cleaning.  Unfortunately he found two other small cavities in adjoining teeth where there were filling so will have another dental appointment in August to get them fixed.  I can't believe the cost of two small fillings.  However, I am thankful to have my teeth and have them in good condition, which is the way I want to keep them.

This evening I have a business meeting to attend at 7 pm.  I have the materials ready for the meeting.  I have found no time for resting today but think shortly I will rest for a little while as am running out of energy.

Janet, glad to hear the good news concerning Darrel and hope he was able to be dismissed today.  I know he has been battling this problem for quite awhile.

Marilyn, I looked at the sea lion pictures.  Very nice.

Tomorrow we have to be at the eye surgery facility on the other side of Atlanta at 7:45 am, which means we will be in the rush hour traffic.  We will leave early and hope for the best.

For those who have posted but to whom I haven't commented, just know that I always read the messages and appreciate the postings.

Carol

Ruth:  LOL on your mouse on strike.  This laptop was acting up but Don shut it down & brought it on and everything is fine - temperamental thing!

Janet:  What fine news - yes to your praise of who is in charge.

JudyB:  I read your note about the tribe in Venezuela - my parents knew Jake & Freida Toews before they were married & Jake actually lived with our family for several months or half a year, I forget.  They built a "house" in the jungle & Jake put in a wooden floor - he could fix so many things.  My dad sent them generators.  They & the family were with New Tribes Mission.  So many missionaries were kicked out of the country that I don't know if there are any left but we really loved getting letters & it was so interesting.  I remember the children coming to our house - they did not really know about windows & some things we take for granted.

I am about 1/3 finished with another prayer shawl - maybe this one will be good enough to donate.  The first one I did was fine and then I tried to knit with three strands of yarn - big mistake for me.  I think that whoever receives my shawl will be praying that I do better the next time - do you think???

We went out for a breakfast sandwich & coffee & accidentally ordered the custard cream puffs  ::) ::) :coffee: - this has to be a one-time thing.  It was great!

Is God not hearing you?

Why are you crying out to me? Tell the people to get moving!

Exodus 14:15 NLT

When God waits

There are a lot of why questions that we lift up to God. Every day people are looking to heaven and crying out in frustration, "Lord, why aren't you doing something about this? Why is this happening to me?" We saturate the airwaves with the why questions of life.

I'm convinced that God has one answer for almost every one of those questions. He says, I'm just waiting on you.

When Moses and the Israelites stood on the edge of the Red Sea watching the Egyptian army close in on them, they cried out to God in fear. They began praying that God would somehow rescue them. And look what God said: "Tell the people to get moving!" (Exodus 14:15). To paraphrase, "I'm just waiting for you."

Too often we spend our days waiting for a miracle. When trouble comes, we cry out to God for help. When things don't move fast enough, we blame God for taking his time. And all the while God is saying to us, I haven't gone anywhere. I'm just waiting on you.

And what is it that God is waiting for? Often he is waiting for us to lay aside our own agenda and trust him....Whenever God waits, he waits for a purpose.

And when we finally come to our senses and do the thing that we know he wants us to do, he moves with a vengeance. The Red Sea parts, and things start to happen.

Etta Sue

What a great day yesterday!

I did go swimming alone.  Just as I got to the swimming facility, my cell rang.  Kitty.  She was home and could go swimming after all but I was already there.  She decided not to meet up with me since it is 20 miles away and I would be almost done.

I then went to King Chef for lunch.  While eating I decided to purchase a lunch to go for Charlene.  She loves Chinese food and Tony won't touch it.  So I took her a meal.

It was mid-afternoon when I got to Charlene's.  All the little ones were asleep and she was napping also.  I woke her up!  So we talked for awhile and then the little ones were waking up.  Charlie, Lexie, Olivia, Amelia, Ava, Evan, Austin and Rico.  All under 4 years old and two are under one years old.  She amazes me how she has them all under control and you can tell she adores each of them and they adore her!

Charlene's mother called (lives next door) and wanted to know how to do something on the computer.  So after Tony got home and we all three chatted for awhile, I asked Charlene to call her Mom to see if she still wanted help.  So I helped Charlotte on her computer.  Feels good to help someone.  Charlene was going to have her lunch last evening!

Then home.  I had a message on the answering machine from my friend in Mexico.  He is in Phoenix until Sunday.  He called back later to talk.
Then I watched TV and went to bed.

Another one of those night.  Tossed and turned.  Saw 3:37am on the clock and hadn't been to sleep yet!  And I didn't have caffeine.  I don't know why I couldn't sleep.  Must have been because of such a great day.  Then when I did sleep, I didn't like the dreams.  I don't remember them but I didn't like them!

Today is my class luncheon.  I called three women to see if they wanted to go with me.  None.  So I will go alone.

I called Ivalou and her two girls are coming from Ohio today to see their Aunt and cousin.  If they go home early enough, Ivalou asked me to go to Anderson this evening with them for ice cream!  Who can turn down that invitation?

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We are home from the eye surgery center, after stopping at iHop for breakfast.  Pat did fine with her surgery.  We have to go back to see the doctor tomorrow and she will get the patch off her eye.  She is napping now in her easychair.

The housekeepers will be here in a few minutes.  We have some rearranging to do upstairs so our old bed can go up there.  We will have them do this work for us in place of cleaning a couple of the rooms, such as our offices, which really don't get dirty in a two week period.

It is going to be close to 100 degrees here today but the humidity is low and that is nice.  However, we were glad to get back inside the house before noon and the mail has already come so won't have to get out in the heat this afternoon.

Etta Sue, sounds like you had a very busy day.  Hope you enjoy your class luncheon today.

I think I will be taking a nap this afternoon as we had to get up very early this morning on top of a busy day yesterday, with no chance to rest.  However, am feeling good so no complaints.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I see I was the last person to post yesterday.  However, will leave evidence that I was here today with a posting.

We are headed out in about 30 minutes to see the eye doctor.  Pat will be happy to have the patch off her eye.  When we finish there we are going to our daughters and have lunch with her so she can participate in the celebration of Pat's birthday today.  I am sure her apartment is going to be warm as the A/C in the apartment building isn't the best.  She also has a big fan that helps move the air.  Sure we will be glad to get back home this afternoon and stay inside.  It is suppose to get up to 100 degrees again today.

Happy Birthday Pat Hannah.

I have had breakfast handed to me and we will be off to get some work done soon.  This heat is tiring, but I slept well last night.

What can you expect when you love God?

But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Galatians 5:22 NLT

Be faithful yourself

When big problems come, there is something in all of us that wants to bail out, throw in the towel, wave the white flag of surrender, and retreat to someplace less stressful.

This explains why so many people under great stress and strain walk away from God, a marriage, a friendship, or a church. When the future looks stormy or uncertain, it becomes easy to rationalize, to jettison one's convictions, to go back on promises.

Before you succumb to panic and start to renege on a commitment, you need to strongly consider God's promise. It tells us that we have something within us (Someone, actually) who desires for us to be loyal and who gives us the courage and grit to hang tough. The Holy Spirit will, if you ask him, enable you to persevere—even in the face of overwhelming trouble.

Praying God's Promise
God, you are always faithful to me. By the power of your Spirit, help me to keep my commitments in tough times. I want to be reliable and trustworthy. I want to be wholly devoted to you, through thick and thin. Fill me with your Spirit so that I have the courage to stand firm.

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee.
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

Refrain:
Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy Faithfulness, Lord unto me.

Summer and winter and spring-time and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide,
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Such truth here Judy. I think this is one of our major shortcomings today. We simply neglect the Holy Spirit who indwells every believer.

Happy Birthday, Pat Hanna!
Pat H~ Hope you are feeling better today than yesterday!

I did have someone go with me to the class luncheon.  One class members wife called back and said she and her granddaughter would go with me.  So off we went to the class luncheon.  We had 14 there so that was a good showing!

When I came back I visited at Ivalou's house.  Her two daughters, Jo and Teresa, from Ohio were here to see their aunt and cousin.  It looked like a storm was coming so I came home...I got a few drops on me but I didn't melt!

The rest of the evening was napping and watching TV.

Today is a do-nothing day.  I need to run some photos through PSP and see which ones I want to submit to Photo Guild Monday night to be gently critiqued.  That's about it.

We woke up to rain this morning and the temp has dropped although it feels muggy, tomorrow and sunday are be much better days.

About the farm accident it involved the round hay baler, there is a large box at the front with a mixture inside, this is mixed into the hay when it is being bailed, this is to prevent combustion, maintain freshness and a few other things.  The farmer chose gravity feed instead of purchasing a $150.00 dollar unit that would have pumped it into the hay, both ways are correct but using the latter might have prevented the accident.  So sad just the same.

I have just finished making a batch of raspberry jam cooked not frozen this time. We have lots and perhaps may give a jar or two away.

I have not been sleeping well and I am finding that a nap in the afternoon is in order, must be the weather at least that is what gets the blame.

All being well we will be having company tomorrow.        Ruth

In case you noticed I have missed a couple of days--Things have been hectic around here.  Grandson Curt is home for a few days, he and Darrel have been doing alarm work, and they borrowed my laptop.  Thus........  Anyhow, today Toni and the little girls came with him and spent the day with me.  We took them in to see Beth and Grandma, and my sister Jeanie.  The new baby is very good.  At ten weeks, she just sleeps or lies there looking around, so content.  Her name is Chelsea Rebecca.  And Lexi warmed up to me quite a bit today, enough that she would play with me and talk to me.

Glad Pat's eye surgery went well, and please give her my best wishes on her birthday, Larry.  Also glad you are feeling better now.

We went to Moscow last night to an open house.  Curt and Toni wanted to look at a house they would like to buy.  It goes up for auction next Thursday.  If you would pray that they can buy it at a very reasonable price, I will appreciate it.  When Curt leaves the Air Force in a few months, they want to come back to SW Kansas to live, and Curt wants to take over the alarm company so Darrel can retire.

I got out of the care home without the head dietician seeing me, so I'm not going back to work just yet!  ;)

;D  I thought that might get your attention!  Do you remember when the Olympics at Moscow were cancelled some years back?  They had a campaign to "Move the Olympics to Moscow, Kansas!"  This Moscow is 30 miles from us and only 12 miles from Hugoton.  The airline we used was Mercury!  ;)

Pat and I used to go to Paris ...... Ontario often when I lived in Guelph!

Why should I help the poor?

Oh, the joys of those who are kind to the poor. The Lord rescues them in times of trouble. The Lord protects them and keeps them alive. He gives them prosperity and rescues them from their enemies. The Lord nurses them when they are sick and eases their pain and discomfort.

Psalm 41:1-3 NLT

He will rescue the poor when they cry to him, he will help the oppressed, who have no one to defend them. He feels pity for the weak and the needy, and he will rescue them. He will save them from oppression and from violence, for their lives are precious to him.
Psalm 72:12-14 NLT

A greedy person tries to get rich quick, but it only leads to poverty. Greed causes fighting; trusting in the Lord leads to prosperity. Whoever gives to the poor will lack nothing. But a curse will come upon those who close their eyes to poverty.
Proverbs 28:22,25,27 NLT

About this week's promise

To be poor means that something is lacking from our life.

The Bible focuses primarily on two kinds of poverty—people who are in need of basic necessities (like food and clothing) and people who are in need of God (for they lack the Holy Spirit's presence in their life). We are called—commanded—to help both of these kinds of people as much as we possibly can.

Hi everyone.

It is suppose to be only 88 degrees today rather than the 100+ degrees we have experienced the last couple of day.  The heat really got to me yesterday.  Guess I overdid a bit the last couple of days and was so tired last night that I went to bed at 8 pm.  I am still tired today and, other than going to coffee, I plan to stay home today.

Our new adjustable bed was delivered about 10:30 this morning and it took them over an hour to assemble it.  They were kind and took our old bed upstairs and reassembled it.  Of course I was happy to give them a nice tip when they finished as appreciated it.  As soon as I finish my lunch I am going to give it a try--can't wait.  It also has a built in massage.

Janet

ENJOY, Larry!  And be sure to let us know how you like your new bed.  I'm glad they took the old one upstairs and reassembled it for you, know that is one worry off your mind.  Also glad you plan to take it easy today.

I am going to catch up on laundry and then spend some time working on some framing and scrapbooking.  See you later!

Maybe that animation will make some feel cooler!!!

I am a little slow getting here today.  Well, last night I was too cold and didn't sleep well.  Finally I put the ceiling fan on low and sleep oh so good!  But I didn't get up until 9:30am!!

I fixed my breakfast and decided to have my coffee and Bible devotions outside on the bistro table.  I opened the door and by Ivalou's garage was a tent, some things on her clothes line and other items in the yard!  Then I remembered that her visitors was having her grandson and his two kids for the night at Ivalou's.  They camped in the tents!  Ivalou's company is now gone.  The grandson is taking them to his house, unload the truck and then take them to Michigan to his mother, their daughter/sister's house!  Then Betty and Mike will be taking the train back to Harlingen or wherever the train will take them close to Austin or Harlingen, Texas.

Then I mowed the grass.  The bed has been changed.  I have showered.  Drying my second load of clothes.  The third load is in the washer waiting to be dried.  I have had my lunch and now catching up online!

Busy day, I guess. But necessary busy.

All your Moscows!  There's another one in Idaho, right next to the Washington border.  So you don't have to take an airline to it either.  I would greatly appreciate y'all praying for me.  My big muscle bruise on my lower left backside is hurting today.  Makes it hard to do anything.

Praying Al. What happened to you to cause that big muscle bruise? Also how is Marbeth doing?

Hi everyone.

I got up late this morning as was enjoying our new beds.  They have a latex mattress and it is nice and firm and extremely comfortable.  It was very nice to have my head raised and not wakeup finding I had slid down in the bed.  The feet raise as well and it keeps you in position.

I think our major activity for the day will be attending church this morning and probably going out to lunch with the group.

Al, sorry to read of the muscle pain you are having and sure hope it is feeling better today.  Those falls can have lasting consequences.

Etta Sue, we are not having that "being too cold" probably here in Georgia at this time.  Glad it is a little cooler for you in your area.
