Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Another beautiful day after the heat wave we had.  It was lovely outside this morning as I took the dogs out. The heat has caused growth in the garden.......weed growth more than plant growth.  That means several hours for several days to get weeding. My least favourite job with having such a large garden.

John won't be home till tomorrow, hopefully early enough that we can meet and go to Home Depot.  I have a renovation project in mind, that needs done.  We will see what happens!

Have to run, lots to do.

In the Garden
(Click for Music)

I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses.

Refrain

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

He speaks, and the sound of His voice,
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.

Refrain

I'd stay in the garden with Him
Though the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling.

Refrain

Where is everyone who usually posts here, I see Judy, Larry and Janet.  Has anyone heard from Pastor Al and how he is doing in Texas?

I'm here, too, Marilyn, kind of buzzing around.   :D

I understand that Al is now in a nursing home near his son.

I was hoping that Al would still be able to have and use his computer so he could come in and visit with us.  Maybe it will still happen.

Larry, winds got up to 89 mph last evening in Wichita area.  I understand thousands of people are still without electricity due to downed poles.  I am really glad it didn't get that bad here!

Maybe everyone is busier than usual, or do they just have the summer doldrums???  I miss reading lots of posts in here!

Just checking the dept of transportation here as they are blasting near the twin tunnels going up the hill and there are huge delays.  We will work around their time schedule as we are going to Grand Lake to pack up things from our cabin/house.  Heavy winter clothes and lots of stuff will be donated right in the county and now comes the hard part of bringing things down the hill.  This will be slow going at that altitude.

Otherwise, my neighbors are really so fun to visit.  We all stop and chat and today we stood in the sun for an hour - much too long.  Discussing the twin fawns born right in back plus the coyotes and tons of health issues around here.  It is so easy to get help watering plants or walking dogs here - just ask one of the neighbors.  Lots of offers to drive people even for groceries.  I am amazed at times.

Janet:  That sounds like there will be a long wait for electricity for some of the folks.

Jeanne Lee:  Thanks for the information on Al.  We wish him loving care.

Pat

Lakelady, it was so good to see you pop in the other day and comment on Judy's devotional.  I also enjoyed it very much this week.  I hope to see you again soon.

Hi everyone.  Both Pat and I got up early as went to sleep early last night.  Once again we had some brief rain here last evening but it didn't amount to much.  We had a nice group at our ROMEO's luncheon yesterday even if the pizza wasn't top-notch.  The food has little to do with why I enjoy the luncheons although it doesn't hurt.  Today other than coffee in a few minutes and a meeting this morning, my day should be fairly quiet.  I haven't made a list for today.  I already refilled my two weeks of medicine containers and now have to order more medicine.  I had thought we were planning on visiting with Stacey today but that will be next week.

Jeanne and Janet, I also hope Al will be up to joining us here again.  It is possible the nursing home doesn't have wi-fi available for the patients.

Janet, 89 mph winds are way too high and sure can do a lot of damage.  Glad that escaped your area.  You are right it does seem really quiet here in Thoughts.

Carol, the Denver area sounds like our downtown Atlanta area and the road work and delays, especially on weekends.  They have had some terrible traffic jams this week.  Have you sold your mountain cabin?  It sounds like you have wonderful neighbors and folks are probably more willing to help each other as they are reaching ages where they know they may also need some help in the future. It sounds like you live on an animal preserve.

Pat, Paul told me you both have some busy traveling days ahead in the next week or so.  At least you don't have to worry about winter weather.

Janet

A good Saturday morning to all who come in later today, and to Larry, who was an early bird!  I have been up since before 5, as I couldn't get back to sleep.  I read the Word for an hour, watched a lovely sunrise, went out to see how the weather was and got pelted by a few big raindrops.  Unfortunately, there were very few of them.

My sister Shirley is home now, but still very sick.  They sent her home with no medication, as she got really sick if she took it by mouth.  They had been giving it by IV.  I found some information in a new book I just got, saying that the natural herb cat's claw (or a derivative of it) can completely cure Lyme disease, so I made a copy of those pages along with ordering information on where to obtain the herb, and sent that to her.  I pray it helps!

I got all my frames put together yesterday, so today I will cut the glass and assemble them.  Then I need to take them to Hugoton, probably won't get that done today, though.

I finished another of the Treasures stories I have been doing, so will post it in here for you soon.

In the Cross of Christ
(Click to hear music)

Author:  John Bowring, 1792-1872
Musician:  Ithamar Conkey, 1815-1867

In the cross of Christ I glory,
Towering o'er the wrecks of time;
All the light of sacred story
Gathers round its head sublime.

When the woes of life o'ertake me,
Hopes deceive, and fears annoy,
Never shall the cross forsake me,
Lo! it glows with peace and joy.

When the sun of bliss is beaming
Light and love upon my way,
From the cross the radiance streaming
Adds more luster to the day.

Bane and blessing, pain and pleasure,
By the cross are sanctified;
Peace is there that knows no measure,
Joys that through all time abide.

In the cross of Christ I glory,
Towering o'er the wrecks of time;
All the light of sacred story
Gathers round its head sublime.

Marilyn

Happy Saturday to everyone.  It is warm here but nothing like some maybe be suffering with. We are in the low 70's which is warm for this area. Keith has been out chopping up a huge loge with just and axe and maul. I keep checking on him to make sure he is till upright. I am in a tank top and knee length yoga pants trying to to get to warm, but I do have to take the dogs for their walks IF they want to go.

Did I mention to y'all that Ron, My son from North Carolina is coming out to California in July and wants me to come for a visit? I haven't seen him since he moved to NC about 22 years ago. His MIL is stage 3 cancer and has very bad cataracts so she can't see to read her medication bottles, Christy has been out here for over a month and went back to NC for some DR appointment, they will be back to help with her care  July 6 to Aug. 10. If Gilbert can't take me I am going to take the train to Sacramento. I don't know the MIL's name I think her last name is Fontan, She can really use your prayers.

Gilbert said he could take me if Forests baseball team  wins their game next weekend and gets to go down to the tournament which is on the outskirts of Sacramento. So I won't know if he is taking me or I'm on the train until next weekend. It woulkd be rea nice to go on a road trip with Gilbert and Forest though and spending that time with them too.

Hi, Marilyn.  A bit warmer here but not much.  It's the chance of heavy rain every afternoon/evening with flooding and flash flooding that is the main concern.  One town has had portions of every road washed out.   With the high humidity, even the lower temperatures feel damp and "clammy".

How great that Ron wants you to get in touch with him and Gilbert may be able to drive you there.  You must be very excited about that!

jeanne I am very excited. Ron and I have been in contact now for about  2 ½ years on Facebook, emails, and texting. So now there is only my daughter and my oldest son that i am not in contact with, I've tried  but it doesn't seem to make any difference. At  least I have three of them in contact with me.

Great news, Marilyn.  It will be nice for you to see your son after all these years.  You'll see some changes!  ;)

Well ..... the temps reached 85º on my porch today ... must've been cooler at Marilyn's.   :-\

I have been doing my best to remain cool(er) but also happy that I'm home from Sacramento where it was 110º today.  My granddaughter is moving this weekend .. actually Sunday and Monday .. so I know she will be mucho warm in the process!

It was great to be in California for a couple weeks with my sisters and daughter and granddaughters -- also a grandson and some great grandkids.  I made it home just in time to miss the triple digit heat, but seem to have brought a bit of the heat with me!  :-[

At any rate, I'm back on the coast of Oregon and, hopefully, a bit cooler and quieter place to recoop!

I trust everything is going well for each of you and that you have a terrific rest of the weekend and a great week ahead!
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Hi, friends,

I've noticed several of you posting on Facebook. It's nice to see you there, and also to hear from you here.

I had the best lunch today - leftovers in mushroom soup.  Specifically, some leftover stewed chicken chunks, and some green beans and a bit of diced potato. Yummy! Almost like a healthier version of the old southern favorite green bean casserole. :)

It's so good to see those of you who normally read and don't say much. We love to hear your comments.

Well, My computer's going to be busy next couple of days or so, so will get back in touch as soon as I can.

Much love to everyone.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Jeanne Lee

Jane, it's good to know you're home safe and sound after an enjoyable time in Sacramento.  Seems like your timing was impeccable, weather-wise.   ;D

It's quite a bit cooler here, but so humid that everything feels "clammy".  But that's so much better than below zero!   :)
