We do some silly things don't we.  I pushed the button on my CO2 detector....and set it off beeping.  The only thing I could do is take out the batteries and now to replace them.  This means a trip to the store.

I am a lister.....I list what I want to get accomplished in my day.  Today I am about 1/3 of the way done!  Woot woot getting there!

Have a great day, I need to stop for lunch!

Janet

I left at a little after 7 to go get Darrel this morning.  The sun had just cleared the horizon and was absolutely blinding!!  Had to hod something up below the visor, plus wearing my sunglasses in order to see!  Whew, it was bright!  Darrel called me and I couldn't answer the phone as there was a truck just ahead of me I could barely see.  So waited until a safe place to call him back.  He just wanted to know if I was on my way to get him, as they were letting him out earlier than the doctor thought.  A good thing!  Darrel is experiencing quite a bit of bleeding, so is to drink lots and lots of water.  I had to pull over on the way home so he could throw up, stomach is a mess.  I fixed him some chicken noodle soup and so far, it has stayed down, so.....

I need to go check on Beth and Maxine.  Maxine's daughter left today for Missouri, so I will be checking on Maxine often.

Jeanne, BAH on that furnace repair charge!  Phooey!  I wondered why the wind noise was to loud in the car today, then discovered the "moon roof" was open a little bit.  We never open it, I didn't even know how, so didn't know how to close it, either!  But after we got home, I figured it out.  :-[

Gotta run!

Hi everyone.  It will soon be 5 pm.  Pat and I went to Bible study this morning and then the usual visiting with our friends at Dunkin' Donut.  We did not stay to have lunch  with the group as had eaten out yesterday.  We had a big turnout at Bible study this morning with only one or two of the regulars not in attendence.  This afternoon I downloaded the new operating system for the iPhone, which has been installed and the iPad, which has been downloaded and is now in the process of being installed.  So far I like what I see so think this is progress.  Nothing else on the schedule for today.  My next door neighbor, Fred, had surgery this morning to open up his carodit artery, which was over 70% blocked.  I haven't heard yet who the operation went.

Carol, I am sure your donations will be put to good use.  I am like you in wondering how one starts to rebuilt especially if they had no flood insurance.  I bet this has also wiped out a lot of jobs in the mountains and in certain towns.  I will have to check on refilled cartridges the next time we need ink.  We have a cartridge world.  I take it that you didn't have a flooding problem at your cabin or getting to it?  Glad you have been able to sell it.  There is always a sigh of relief when the papers are signed.

Jeanne, you certainly do need heat and glad the repairman could get to you quickly.  Glad the repairman didn't have to stay any longer or you needed a new furnace.  Our heating/AC are not over 16 years old so may be operating on borrowed time.

Ruth Ann, you are a special person who do so much for others.  Nice you take her out to eat as that must be a treat for her, as you say.

Janet, glad to read of the success of Darrel's surgery and that he is now home.  No wonder he has had so many problems.  Hope you got a good nights sleep last night and that Darrel is able to sleep without too much pain.

Judy, that water must have been a real shock.

Ruth, I bet your husband and son would appreciate the wool pullover.  Ice fishing sure doesn't appeal to me but know lots of people enjoy it, including my nephew in northern Iowa.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone on another bright and sunny day.  In an hour or so we will head to Atlanta as I wrote last night and that will be enough for today.  I am looking forward to having lunch with Stacey at the Shepard's Center but not looking forward to going to her apartment as parking is a serious program during the week.  Also Pat's appointment is in one of the building at the hospital we haven't been to before but we know where it is and can drop her off in front of it as I drive to the parking lot for the north side of the hospital.  I haven't heard anything about my neighbor this morning but don't expect to until later in the day.

JudyB

Today is the last time I will mow the lawns. I need to wait till the grass dries up some.  In the meantime I want to give the windows a lick and a promise.

Autumn is definitely here, Just a while till all the leaves change colour....It is about 62 right now, going up to 73 later today so a nice day for mowing.  We are to have rain tonight, that is much needed our well is suffering.

Revelation 3:20 GNT
"Listen! I stand at the door and knock; if any hear My voice and open the door, I will come into their house and eat with them, and they will eat with Me."

Have a great day folks!

~* HE LIFTED ME *~
Words & Music by Charles H. Gabriel, 1856-1932

I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established by goings.
And He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
Psalm 40:1-3

O the love that sought me!
O the blood that bought me!
O the grace that brought me to the fold!
Wondrous grace that brought me to the fold!
~W. Spencer Walton~

Occasionally it is good for each of us as Christians to reflect seriously on a question such as this: "Where would I be today if God had not transformed my life, established my ways, and given me a life of joy and praise?" With all of the allurements of sin so rampant in today's society, we must readily confess that except for the love and grace of God, we too could find ourselves with broken and shameful lives. But we have been accepted into the beloved and made children of the heavenly Father! Through the redemptive work of Christ, we have been given a new and higher "plane" on which to live. With the author and composer Charles Gabriel we can only exclaim, "O praise His name, He lifted me!" Such divine love on our behalf calls forth a response of thankful gratitude and a sincere desire to see other needy individuals share this redemptive experience.

Charles H. Gabriel was one of the best known and most prolific gospel songwriters of the late 19th and early 20th century eras. His fame as a successful composer became widely known, especially with the use of his songs by Homer Rodeheaver in the large Billy Sunday evangelistic campaigns. "He Lifted Me" first appeared in the collection Revival Hymns, published in 1905.

Words and Music by Charles H. Gabriel

"For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.  But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Titus 3:3-5

In loving kindness Jesus came,
My soul in mercy to reclaim,
And from the depths of sin and shame
Thro' grace He lifted me.

Refrain
From sinking sand, He lifted me,
With tender hand, He lifted me,
From shades of night to planes of light,
O praise His name, He lifted me!

He called me long before I heard,
Before my sinful heart was stirred,
But when I took Him at His Word,
Forgiv'n He lifted me.

Refrain
From sinking sand, He lifted me,
With tender hand, He lifted me,
From shades of night to planes of light,
O praise His name, He lifted me!

His brow was pierced with many a thorn,
His hands by cruel nails were torn,
When from my guilt and grief forlorn,
In love He lifted me.

Refrain
From sinking sand, He lifted me,
With tender hand, He lifted me,
From shades of night to planes of light,
O praise His name, He lifted me!

I am rather tired and sleepy, as was up numerous times to check on Darrel.  I think he actually got more sleep than I did, and I am happy about that.  We got him showered this morning, and he has been sitting here reading on the Nook for hours already.  But he is snoring now, so I think maybe he's asleep!  ;)  He has only taken one pain pill since he got home!  Praise God!

I am going to work on the list of questions for the biographical sketches I want to do on all of our members here, then start emailing them to you.

Today's Devotional

As I put on my favorite necklace, I realized one of the links was missing. I had not known it was broken when I placed it in the drawer, but now the necklace was useless to me until the links were joined again.

A week earlier I had seen a small silver link on the carpet. Not knowing where it came from, I had picked it up and placed it on the side of the sink. Now I could repair the necklace.

Like the broken necklace, we can become broken in our spiritual life. This brokenness can happen when any one of life's devastating losses comes our way — illness, death of a loved one, job loss, divorce. Feeling disconnected from God can happen when we have an argument with a family member or a friend, or when we have an unpleasant encounter with a co-worker or even a stranger at the store.

Our brokenness can be repaired through prayer, personal devotional time, and meditation. We can reconnect with God through Bible study, Sunday school, and community worship. God always provides a link for us if we will take advantage of it.

Charlene T. Eubank (Tennessee, USA)

Thought for the Day:

We never have to live apart from God.

Prayer: Help us, O God, to stay linked to you. Amen.

Prayer Focus: People who feel disconnected from God

Carol

We are in Grand Lake Colorado and it did freeze last night.  A very hard rain and perhaps snow at the peaks. Foggy up there right now. The park Rocky Mt Park is open a wee bit near our south entrance so hooray as I want to check if the elk are forming their family.  we are taking a break from moving furniture.   GASP.

Janet.  Sounds likeDarrel is slowly recovering.

Larry. Donjust received two ink refills with free delivery and they sent FEDEX.

Kids arrive tonight and tomorrow night and will fill two empty trailers and drive stuff down the hill.  There is no way we could do this work.  I am already praying.

Jeanne. We all do things like that.  Sorry for you cost.

Pat.   I won't be back until Sunday   Do hope you are staying warm.  The weather is changing now.

The damage from flooding and rock slides is monumental.  also, there are so many places unnamed and not in the news. Forgotten.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Again a bright and low humidity morning here in Georgia.  I picked up my friend Rod and we went to coffee at the senior center this morning.  After taking him home I stopped and filled the car again with gas and that is all I plan on doing today as I need to rest to recovery from yesterday.  The trip went fine and we enjoyed having lunch with Stacey.  We didn't need to go to her apartment as only had a small sack of things to give to her and did that at the cafeteria.  She has not yet been able to start training to use the artificial leg due to the broken bone in her foot.

Judy, fall is a nice time of the year as it is cooler and there is great color as the leaves get ready to fall off.

Janet, it sounds like Darrel is making good progress on his recovery and the pain must be lessening.  I got the questions you sent but it will be awhile before I can get my responses to you as will have to work on them over the next several weeks.

Carol, glad to see you were able to get to your cabin but watch that moving furniture.

A special greeting to all who visit here today.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

I'm getting ready to go out today. It seems as I age, the days fly by faster and faster.

I'm so sorry for the folks in Colorado. Long after we outsiders forget their tragedies, they'll still be dealing with them.

Well, not too much to say today, so for now,

I'll leave sending much love to each of you,
Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Janet

We are enjoying a lovely, cool and NOT windy day today!  :)

I was ready to go to the gym but Pat called and wanted me to come earlier for her to do my hair, so changed again and went and got my hair cut and styled.  Then went to see Beth and Maxine, then to the gym to talk to Kristi, then to Subway to pick up a sandwich for our lunch, as requested by Darrel.  Now I am home again!

Larry, thank you for filling out the answers to the questions as you can.  Please feel free to expand on your answers in any area, as the more you tell us, the better your story will be.

Thanks to the others who have done them or are working on them.....and I will get more sent out soon!  You have not been forgotten!

Today I am thanking God that He is in control of this world, and that nothing happens without His knowledge.  And that He takes care of His own.  What a mighty God we serve.

I have been in California for a week, so far, and have no idea how much longer my stay will be.  Lots of business to take care of....much already accomplished, but much still remains.  :-\  I can only occasionally gain access to my daughter's computer, as she and her daughters need it for writing/sending resumes and filling out applications.  Hopefully this will soon bring great results, so I will be patient for my turn!

Janet, are you already sending out the biography questions?  not sure which of my email addresses you have, but I would like to be a recipient as well.  I think you have my hotmail address, and that would be the preferred one to use.  Thanks.

Gotta go ... again ... they're standing in line for this computer.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Hi everyone.  We have an overcast day and it is relatively cool.  We have an 80% chance of some rain later today and it will be welcome as has been a couple of weeks since it rained.  Things dry out very quickly in Georgia.  I expect too have a quiet day today.  We will go out to eat sometime today if Pat wants to.  I was really tired yesterday but managed to stay up until 8 pm.

Ruth Ann, I sure agree with you on days going by faster and faster.  I was looking at the calendar this morning and realized there are only 9 more days left in September after today.

Janet, we recently got a sandwich at Subway and it was very good.  I have your questions set up in a document so I can work on them when I have a few minutes and will try to do a little each day.

Marilyn, nothing smells as good in a house than a loaf of bread baking.  I think we still have a bread machine but never use it anymore.  The same thing is true for some other applicances.  Pat gave me a small ice cream freezer for Christmas and it is still in the box.

Jane, glad to see your posting and to see you are getting a lot done while you are there.

Janet

I hope all of you are having a great day today.  I have been making cards, got six completed and have kits to do four more.  Very pretty cards, too!  I didn't design them, we had a lady from Sublette come over and teach.  There were only five of us there besides the teacher, but we had a really good day.  Now I am sleepy, as I got up really early; so have time for a nap before going to pick up Beth for church.

A big thank you to those who have already answered the questions or will be doing so soon.  And if your haven't gotten the questions about photography, they will be coming along soon!

See you later!

Hi everyone, We walked dogs in the Fun Fest parade today. Keith handed out flyers to the audience and I walked with the dog walkers, we walked the rescues from where I work.  All the dogs were rescue from kill shelters in California, and they were all red tagged to be  euthanized the very day they were rescued, Here is the cute little wire haired =terrier that I carried for most of the route, she decided she would walk/run the last few blocks. The little stinker.

Hi everyone.  We had a very rainy afternoon yesterday with areas around here getting 1 to 2 inches of rain.  I know it knocked the satellite off a few times during the Georgia game.   I didn't go anywhere yesterday and today will just be church and out to lunch probably with the group.

Janet, with your artistic ability I can't imagine that the cards would be anything but beautiful. Glad you enjoyed your day.

Marilyn, very cute little dog and sure you enjoyed the Fun Fest Parade.  Nice that Keith participated with you.  Did this result in any of the dogs being adopted?

Janet

This is a most unusual Sunday morning for the Damon household!  We are usually in church at this time, but I went last night and took Beth.  I asked Darrel if he wanted to go this morning--no--so we are having a lazy morning.  Got him showered, etc and I'm waiting for him to decide he wants to eat!  I have our sheets in the washer, so getting some things done.  I am not good at doing nothing for very long.

I will be glad when Darrel gets rid of the catheter and wants to do things again.  Two more days!  ;)

Thanks for the nice words, Larry.  Maybe I should photograph the cards and show you?

Aren't you all glad you know the Lord?  What peace, joy and assurance He gives us, even in the midst of these turbulent times!  Hallelujah!!
