Gareth, thank you so much for those.  Every time I see those rows and rows of white crosses, I get a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye.

Thank you, Gareth!  There is something about a simple white cross that gets me right in my heart.  And then when you see many of them, I lose it.

Gareth,

Very nice photos.  Through the years we have visited many of the American cemeteries in Europe, Hawaii, Phillipines, etc. and I too get a lump in my throat.  In Normandy Cornelia and I both had tears in our eyes.

Thanks everyone.  PapaJohn, I have visited the graves of two of my family members who came from South Africa to fight for the English in France.  I felt especially sad when I realised that they were so young and the price they paid was so high but so necessary.  They were proud to be South African but also their English heritage.  Another great cousin was shot down over Germany, he spoke fluent German and his surname was Rachmann.  When the other pilots flew over him he gave them the thumbs up and they flew off.  He was never seen again.
