Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

From the library on Knott Street to Derwent hall, in Darwen, it is a matter of a few hundreds yards walk. Derwent hall is an older peoples, meeting place where you can call in, have a meal or just a snack, its for the over 55, if you want to be in a club, there are activities each day of the week, me I just go in to meet Margery, have a cup of tea and a bite to eat, then we decide on what we are doing Monday afternoons, for me its usually the health center, for wound dressings.
Not today though, as I want to see Leticia, so I'm going to drop in clinic Tuesday. Margery went to hospital to have her eye seen too, so I went to Derwent hall to wait for her, as she was going for a flu jab at three o clock. I wanted to photograph what was Lodges supermarket but the light was very much behind the building, so I gave that a miss. I'm coming to the photographs in a minute, but let me explain. It was this supermarket that inspired me to write the tract about Halloween, the supermarket was once a Methodist church, a big one at that, but due to a dwindling congregation, it finally closed its doors twenty, maybe thirty years ago. Then it was bought out by a supermarket, not a chain, as I believe there were only two of these supermarkets in the whole country.
The building became Lodges supermarket, and people call it that even to this day, even though another company, B & M bargains took over the premises several years ago.
Now Lodges supermarket was named that for a curious reason, they supplied all the food and other sundries to the Masonic lodges for their get togethers and banquets. When the Freemasons vacated the property, it was empty for years, then along came B & M Bargains who have been running it from just before the year 2000, ad just about October 2001, the Halloween displays, have got steadily darker and more sinister by the year, there is an opressive atmosphere of heaviness as you enter into the building. Little Joshua, whom I knew almost from birth used to be terrified of going in, he would literally get round the back of me and cling to my trousers to hide himself, mind you that's because they had this clown ride in the foyer of the shop and he was terrified of it, imagine then what Halloween can do to sensitive children.

Anyway that's partly how I ended up at the library, just across from Lodges, so from there I walked down to Shorey bank, a short riverside walk to Derwent hall. There is a bridge at the end of the path which takes you across the river just at the back of Derwen hall, and in this view we see it set against the slowly changing autumn leaves, its there to say october is not just about doom and gloom, but arguably the most colourful season of the year. If the gospel is to be found in the autumn colours. it should reflect in the maturity of our lives, just as the fall can reflect the richness colour, and glory og God's creation, so our later years should be just as rich, colourful, and glorious, as a wonderful autumn.

Part of the sign at the top of the path, how many creatures can you spot, there is one hidden by the leaves.

And the first picture I took this afternoon is looking from Shorey bank, up towards Robin bank, well that was my afternoon, I only wish I knew how to paste all these photo's in one topic, but it won't even accept two when I try to do that.

I will talk to Jeanne and see if she can help you figure that out.

OK Jeanne has merged all the topics into the order you wanted I do believe.  It is a beautiful walk.  I would love John and I to take it with you, and with these pictures we have.

Well done they are beautiful!

Summicron

There's a builders yard at the back of those trees and an ambulance stations, Mind you it is a lovely walk.

Summicron

Oh about two miles north of here, to the right.

Summicron, instead of clicking on "New Topic" for each picture, just use the "Reply" button, the same as when you reply to Judy or to me.  Then type in what you want to say about the picture and insert the picture in the same way as always.  That will keep them all together in one topic but separate posts.

I'll try merging them all together.  Keep a watch and if I lose any, you can post it again, OK?

Jeanne Lee

I did manage to get them all together and what a wonderful walk you take us on when it's presented this way.

I don't know why you weren't able to put more than one post in a topic.  It should work just by using the "Reply" button at the bottom of the last message.
