Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Some of these were cropped and a different lens used thats why the difference in color...

I get excited every year when I see the bue birds checking out the houses. In the 3-4 years that I've gotten to know their ways I fell in love with them...My first experience with them I didn't realize that they were being pushed out and becoming less cos of civilization and  of non native birds attacking them not only them but others, too. Actually when I started into birdwatchng did I realize they even existed though I saw them checking a nest box my daughter made in 4H and I put up for decoration...I didnt pay attention. My husband who's always enjoyed birdwatching so I guess it became an interest to me one day-which I can't explain why..Any hows-for three years there has only been one batch of fledginglings and babies that have made it through with-being attacked by HOSP and wrens which will  peck the eggs and or throw hatchlings out of box.

Native Americans said about them 'the bird that carries the sky' - there's probably other stories or sayings about them but that's what I remembered the most...

The male looks for the home to be
Calling a mate...

Waiting for approval for place-both checking the surroundings...

He goes in hoping for here to check it out...

She's considering

She goes in

This was a few days ago-The HOSP are notorious for laying claim to a nesting box-they will bully and they were there-I didn't see the bluebirds around for a few days-until today then only the male who was calling once again....

These are great.

We finally have a Bluebird family returning after about 4 years.  I am so excited because they are so beautiful.

Great pictures! The birds are so cute! :thumbsup2:
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't they eastern bluebirds?
I've been studying birds for quite a while now, and I want to be sure of what they are called.

juanital

Hey-thank you all!!!  Norty-yes those are Eastern bluebirds... :)

Well they have made there nest in there...They were going back and forth to the other one that's for a 'buddy' system the proper word I can't think of...but last year tree swallows took one while the bluebirds took the other and when they are paired up there's a better chance of protecting their nestlings, but shortly after the babies of both nesting birds were born they were thrown out and pecked...Here's a picture of a house sparrow in the bushes behind the bluebird nesting box. The swallows were here looking this year but the bluebirds couldn't make up there mind which one they wanted...I haven't seen them since that day...I did get a kick out of the bluebirds being indecisive!!! :)

These are wonderful bird shots, great photos and thanks for sharing. I love birds but most of our local birds are not so colorful unless you go into the sticks to find them. We get the standard fare in our yards, but I have never seen a bluebird around here at least in the neighborhoods. Any birdhouse gets quickly overrun with sparrows or starlings.

Keep your camera handy you may just see the babies when they hatch!!!

juanital

Judy, they lay an egg a day, there are three there now. It's normal for 3-5., so guess what I'm hoping for???!!!! The survival batch that fledged from 2007 I watch and held my breath for the last one and when he didn't leave the box I'd say about 4,5 days, the daddy coaxed and coaxed-I opened it up and discovered he had been bound up with string, probably just from ordinary moving around and his leg was up and deformed, it had grew that way and he wasn't able to get out of there...Sadly that one died! I'm hoping for everything to go great...We have a pair of nesting robins in a shrub in my garden, they have four eggs there. Haven't taken pictures any of the nest eggs. but I want to but don't want to disturb too much either!
