Thanks everyone. This was the only time I've been able to get so close to one of these guys. He was young and may have been injured. I got fairly close to him and he
flew. I waited a while and stalked him again getting right beneath him before he noticed. After I took several shots I tried everything to get him to fly for an in flight shot but he wouldn't budge. I even waved my arms and stomped my feet with him looking right at me! Guess he thought I was some kind of a harmless idiot. :)
PAsserby's may have thought that! :uglystupid:

LOL Jim! I have done that too, with smaller birds. They just sit there and look at me like "Who's that strange person acting like a nut?"
May I ask what lens you are shooting with?
We do have eagles out here at the lake, but I don't know if I can get close enough to them. Only one way to find out, I guess.
