This burrowing owl was just enjoying the springtime sun last evening. He looked at me for a portrait. So cute! I just love these little guys.

Well Done ! Way to go!
I have never seen a burrowing owl in the wild.. Only a grey owl.
These are awesome picture. Great job.
Thanks so much!
I just blogged about the experience with more details if you are interested in reading it.

WOW those are definately some special photos! The one with those piercing yellow eyes looking at you is amazing. The clarity in all of these is amazing. If you don't mid me asking, what lens/s do you use for birding on your 2 bodies??
Excellent job.

Thanks, Sarge! I only WISH I had 2 bodies. I only have one Canon EOS 20D and I switch off my lenses. I'm hoping to upgrade my camera and use the 20D for a second body.
I took the images of this owl with my Canon EF USM 75-300mm f/4-5.6 lll Telephoto Zoom. It doesn't even have image stabilization, so it's a real challenge to get sharp when I have to shoot handheld, especially when the light is getting low. I really need to get faster lenses to take my photography to the next level and I'm saving towards that now. Probably an L series with an extender.
GUESS WHAT??? This weekend is the Snake River Birds of Prey Festival and I went down there this morning and I got to go to a burrowing owl lecture and tour! I got to hold baby burrowing owl chicks! They are so cute!!! I will put pictures up as soon as I can. Unfortunately, I didn't have anyone take my picture holding one. :(
It was such an awesome experience! I'm doing a happy dance today! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
Yay!!!! can't wait to see them! :)
