Title: City Center Sculpture
Post by: Summicron on June 07, 2008, 08:46:42 PM
To get over to Piccadilly Gardens and our bus to Glossop, we had to walk a few hundred yards through Manchester city center, and I came across this conglomeration of buildings, which just seemed to scream take a picture, so I put on the 90mm summicron lens and got this pyramid shape of the various peices of architecture. Now there is a sculpture in a whimsical and slightly surealistic gender, which looks very much (no I've never been to the USA) like some whimsical sculptures dotted around Manhatten, especially the one in Gramercy Square.

How do I know? I've a book called, Reflections of New York, by Pamela Thomas, and photographed by, Karen Kent, I picked up in a charity shop (this is the reason I would like a book section in the forum) but I digress. You will by now have guessed that I am enthralled by Manchester, it is seemingly having a renaissance, and the buildings that are being erected  there are fascinating. Even so we must heed the words of Jesus, in that, in the last days people would be marrying and being given in marriage, that men would be building up and tearing down, at a huge rate of knotts. And here is another one of those wonderful scriptural parallels, when the disciples were showing Jesus the magnificence of the temple, Jesus predicted the temples coming destruction, as well as His crucifixion and resurection.
