I've never tried a fireworks shot and have always wanted to. Hopefully this 4th will provide an opportunity.
You caught that one really well, d :coffee:id you use <Bulb> with a card?
Yes that's right you set the shutter to B then cover up the lens with a card, open the shutter and then when the fireworks burst you remove the card for a second or two, then cover the lens again, and repeat as often as you like, its like multiple exposures.
Beautiful shot. Well done. Will you get more this year on the 4th?
Yes, the "card method" worked here. The camera was on a tripod, and the building was snapped first when the light was better. When the fireworks went off, I did the bulb setting at about a second. And the result is the composite of both shots.
The last time I tried phptographing fireworks I used a cable release to hold the shutter open, but that was with my old pentax spotmatic II.
Well you do, you lock the cable release leave the shutter open, and remove the card when you think e good display is coming up. It's a bit like the beginnings of photography, when to make the exposure, you pulled off the lens cap.
