This little Catholic Church sees no services now, as the population of Green Island, Iowa has declined to the point that it can't support a church.
I occasionally worshipped here as a child. Even then, the church was tiny and cramped to me, but the stained glass windows were marvels of color on a summer morning, that made the light magic inside.
What a lovely little building. Is it still in use?
Lovely, looks like a pioneer church.
Too bad there isn't an itinerant preacher who would resurrect the work in that community.
Unfortunately, the area has lost population, and the church no longer has regular services. Someone watches it pretty closely, because of the stained glass windows.
Can pictures be taken of the inside of the church? An interesting shot would be of the windows on the inside with the sun shining outside.
I find it always sad to see a deserted church.
Next time I'm in the area, I'll see if I can get in.
Great idea if you can take some photos inside!
What a pretty and charming little church. I would love to see more of the stained glass windows.
I agree with CapturedbyGrace! I'd also like to see more of the Stained Glass windows. Do you have more of them?
