Title: Orthodox Church hidden in mountains
Post by: Hermit on October 28, 2017, 06:09:42 AM
Came across this welcoming sight as I was riding over a mountain pass in Austria.
I never found the side road to access it.

Changed to link because of excessive file size

Hm, and no car park?  :o
...seriously a beautiful small church but with me having MS, this church could be a hundred miles away, even If I was as close to it as you were Hermit, when you took this photo...doubt I could ever reach its front door...

It is a shame that photos have to be so reduced. So here it is again.

I am sure there is access to it but I never found it. Otherwise you might have to abseil down to it. ::)

There is no need to shrink the dimensions of a photo in order to reduce the file size.

This photo is 600 by approx 450, with file size 306.8 kb

When you "save as"  a .jpg there is there should be a slider to choose the file size or image quality and a number indicating the kb's

Sorry to be a nuisance, but what program / software are you referring to. Is there one on this wedsite or are you referring to a program you have on your personal computer?

What program do you use to save and resize your photos?  I mostly use Photoshop Elements, but PSP also is very good.  There are several free applications that can be used also - in fact whatever you use for resizing must have a way to adjust the file size.

I am sorry. I checked many available programs, and Google searched "resizing image file size" and non of them showed how to reduce file size from say 300 Kb to 165 Kb without reducing the image.

I have free applications, namely Photoshop Elements 11, GIMP, and Paint, and non can do this.

Please provide a link, to this website, for other new members, that will show how to resize a file without resizing the image.

I do not understand why you cannot resize with Photoshop Elements 11 .  That is what I used for the comparison examples.

Open your photo in Photoshop Elements 11.

If necessary, resize to 600 maximum pixels on the longest side.

Click on "save as" and in the drop down format menu
choose .jpeg.

Click on "save".

In the box "image Options" there is a slider.

Move the slider to the left or right to change the number just to the right of the box until you get a number below 165.

Click on "OK" and you have a properly sized photo ready for posting in Christian Photographers
