Title: Sunday Entertainment

Things like this used to be pretty popular at one time, still in May and June there are band concerts here in the grounds of Clitheroe Castle, quite colourful, with the advantages of a high viewpoint.

What a wonderful way to spend a warm summer evening.  There doesn't seem to be a lot of 'youngsters' there, but the people who are there will I am sure be enjoying themselves.

Good picture with lots of memories accompanying it!

There is a summer series of weekly band concerts in the next town over the mountain.  It's a tradition that dates back at least into the 40's.  I remember going with friends and sitting on a blanket on the lawn - no provided seating such as in this picture, just a pavilion for the band in the center of the park.  Thanks for bringing back those wonderful memories.   <3

Do you remember the beginning of the Laurel and Hardy film, Men O War, O think they were sitting on the grass watching a band concert there.

In Toronto at the Canadian National Exhibition there is a band shell.  I remember there were concerts during the CNE, and we would take our picnic lunch and eat it in front of the band shelll.  It was a time to relax and rest before continuing with exploring the many buildings with displays.  Those were the days!
