I am looking for a new camera and i am narowed down to 2. The XTI and D80 anyone have any feedback?

Hi there!

First of all, welcome to the site! So happy to have you here.

I happen to have the D80 and am enjoying it so very much. I don't have any experience at all with the XT1 so can't tell you about that. I started with Nikon Coolpix 950 and then upgraded to the Nikon Coolpix 8700 so it was logical for me to continue with the Nikon so bought the D80. I'm still learning it. I got it in May of this year and must spend more time learing all of the various settings, etc.

I had the Rebel XT, and loved it. I moved to the 40D after 25,000 shots with the XT. I have it as a backup now.

See which one feels better in your hand and when you put it up to your eye, how does the viewfinder look to YOU?

The Nikon D80 is a fine machine, and maybe a bit above the XTI in the technical sense. The advantage might be the XTI's sensor cleaning system and compact size. But it all depends on you.
