Here's our
Twelfth Challenge for you all.
CHRISTMAS PREPARATIONS
Details: - Show us your best photos illustrating "Christmas Preparations" for this challenge. How do you plan for Christmas? Do you decorate? Are you with family and friends? Tell us about your Christmas Preparations. Here is an opportunity to come up with some fascinating and creative pictures!
- Use the attachment feature to show your photos (see directions above in the link to "How to Use This Board") in your post or link to them from your gallery or an offsite location that allows linking using the image codes. If you have trouble, please contact a moderator (name in blue) or an administrator (name in red) and we'll help you post your photo. If you have your photo in your gallery, please don't use the attachment feature as that puts the photo on our server twice but rather link to it.
- Please upload up to 4 entries per member for this challenge.
- The challenge is open now and will be closed to uploads on Sat., Dec. 2, 2006 and then we'll vote on them.
- Please put a title in your post for your photos. We need the title for the poll.
- Of course, we're going to see who is posting the photos so this is not an anonymous challenge. So start posting. Click on the "Reply" button below and start this challenge!
Remember, this is a fun project!
Thanks to Bircher for suggesting the last topic, "Thanksgiving" which we will keep open where you all can share things or places that you are thankful for. Thanks Sam!
ABOVE ALL THE HUB-BUB... HUSTLE AND BUSTLE OF THIS HOLIDAY SEASON, I BELEIVE WE HAVE LOST THE TRUE MEANING OF WHAT IT WAS MENT TO BE...SO A COUPLE YEARS AGO I HAD SOME EXTRA LIGHTS LEFT OVER FROM MAMA'S TREE .... SO I DECIDED TO PLACE A COUPLE STRINGS THAT WOULD SPELL OUT WHAT IN THE END IS THE "TRUE MEANING " OF CHRISTmas ...A SAVIOR WHO WAS GIVIN THAT WE MIGHT LIVE !.... FUNNY THING ...ALL THE PHOTOS THAT HAVE BEEN PUT IN OUR NEWSPAER OF HOLIDAY LIGHTS AND SUCH....THIS ONE NEVER SEEMS TO HAVE MADE IT... WELL I GUESS IT'S NOT REALLY ALL THAT SURPRIZING ...BUT I DO PRAY MANY WOULD LOOK UPON IT EACH DAY......EACH YEAR THE TREE COMES DOWN...BUT NOT THESE LIGHTS THEY KEEP SHINING OUT "GOOD NEWS"....THE MESSAGE EVERY DAY TO THOSE WHO PASS BY MY HOUSE.... TO...PRAISE THE FATHER, YHWH, AND YESHUA THE SON ! ....AMEIN

Sure enough, it's that time again! You gals have a head start on me, for sure! I do not plan to do much this year, as I do not think any of the kids or grands will be coming to our house, but will be having Christmas at their own homes. That's the way it should be, I guess, and I'm happy with that.........as long as we are invited!
I now have four or five Christmas trees, so will get one out and set it up, as soon as I give the living room a thorough cleaning!
Your trees and decorations look very festive, Etta Sue and Marilyn.
Well not much in the way of Christmas preperations around this house. I just ordered some outdoor Christmas decorations though.
I got a little 4 1/2 foot outdoor tree that has the lights on it and I've put it on my deck in front of my living room window. It's kind of nice looking out there. I put it up last night. I'll get a photo of it.
Love seeing your preparations.
Your outdoor tree sound lovely, Pat.
Etta Sue, I love your fireplace, and the fire looks like a real wood one! I miss having a fireplace, we had two in the big house.
I did get my tree up yesterday, but not the other stuff. Maybe tomorrow.
Thanks, Janet! That fireplace sure cuts the gas bill down. I do believe it has paid for itself by now.

One of my favorite Christmas cards, that I believe really captures the child-like joy of the season.

One of my top 2-3, all-time favorite Christmas cards. It reminds me of Christmas in Wisconsin, where I was raised.

Another of my favorite Christmas cards.

Great, Jim! I love candles -- and your favorite Christmas cards, too! Your den looks like a neat place to hang out.
Kevin, that is a neat ornament for your Baby's First Christmas ... Thanks for sharing.
Finally found time to have a look .... nice pictures! Have yet to put up any decorations. Usually all finished by now, so had best do something about getting up my little tree. Will take a picture....That is a neat Christmas Card. Love old fashioned things :)

Happy Birthday, Jesus

I like that Nita ... I really, really do! <3
Part of my preparations this year included getting my floors and furniture spiffied up.

Sue, are you happy with it now? All nice and spiffy? :) Nita
Yes, Nita I am. This is the first in 10 years that I've have professionals come in and clean my furniture and carpets. It is a much nicer job than the home machine that I have. It took a few days to dry though.
Boy, more pretty stuff in here! I love that card of the little girl, and the colors are just wonderful!! The boy one is adorable, too.
Sue, wish I had my carpets and furniture all spiffed up! I know that makes you feel good.
I will try to take a few pics tomorrow and maybe add some here, too.
I had a chance this afternoon to really look at the photos in here. I am sure glad that we will not be voting. I would have a very tough time trying to select just a few for favourites.

Oh, we'll be voting! We're just giving everyone a little more time to get their picts in. It's the "Thanksgiving" comp that is gonna stay open for us to show our thanks continually.
I'll be working on getting it ready for voting in a few days, so enter, enter, enter!
In His Grip,
Kevin
I knew that Kevin, and I'm ready ;) :D
oh boy! This is going to be a tough choice.
I finally got an opportunity to resize this photo of my completed tree with a rapt stuffed animal audience.

Very nice, Sue. One thing about an audience like that ... the tree remains intact, with all decorations in place, while they admire it! :D I like your tree ... <3
Thank you Jane.
I'm late! I'm late!

Wow pat is that your house?
That is not Pat's house (I've seen photos of it) but that is a lovely card!
No, not my house but just a lovely old house that looked nice so I took a photo of it.
Thanks!
Pat, where is that house located?
For Colin: The little snowman candleholder.
And the other side of it.
That's lovely Janet!
Abby is showing you the pumpkin she carved for Thanksgiving. Can you tell it's a turkey? I thought she did a great job on it! :)
Nice Janet! What's it made of/from? And will it break in the mail before it arrives here in Japan? ;D

Wow pat is that your house?
No, Marilyn... Not mine. Mine's just a plain little old bungalow. :)
Thanks, Pat. Boy, you really do need to click on these and see them larger, don't you?
Kevin, the candleholder is wood, but the little votive holders are glass. If it's packed well, should survive the trip! ;)

Pat, where is that house located?
Sorry, missed this question Janet.
this old house is about 4 miles south of me in the village of Arkell. It's a house built in the late 1800s and it always looks so nice at Christmas.
I took this the other night at the Light Parade. I thought the "gifts" and Santa looked so nice!
Yes, you click on them, Janet. That's the way that the attachments work. It's ok though. Nice to see them larger by clicking.
They all look rather chilly Janet!
Pat, I thought for sure you had taken that photo of the old house somewhere in the "old world" as I had no idea one so old would be there near you! Cool!
Yes, it was a very cold night---the coldest yet this year!
I believe that makes four today for me, so I'm off to bed and will post some more tomorrow. Good night!
Yep, that cute li'l Pumpkin has carved a turkey out of the side of a pumpkin! And a good job she did!
Kevin
Thanks, Kevin. She worked really hard on it, and was proud of her turkey pumpkin. :) And it made a nice centerpiece for the table, too.
Janet, you did a great job on the candle holder and Abby did a wonderful job of "carving" the turkey!
Janet..your candle holder is beautiful. I love the snowmen. Well done
Thank you Sue and Colin! :)

I'm coming in on this too late to submit a pic for the poll, but I wanted to post this picture anyway. When the snow fell on the patio table, my husband and I both thought it looked like a birthday cake. He found some candles and went out to set it up. Once he lit them, my nine year old son and I sang happy birthday to Jesus. :)

What a great idea, Deb! I'm sure Jesus was smiling down on your family as you sang Happy Birthday to Him!
