How to Use This Board (http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=5279.0)
Here's our
Twenty First Challenge for you all.
M O T I O N
Details: - This topic was chosen by mossphoto (Vic) who won our last Challenge. The subject of the next Mini Challenge is MOTION. Vic says, "I would like to propose the Challenge "Motion". Motion could frozen motion, camera motion, subject motion, lens zoom, a combination, or whatever.
I would also like to challenge other shooters to go out and shoot specifically for this challenge. I will upload my first entry from my files, once the new challenge is set up. It is the image that gave me the idea for this subject. However, for the rest, I plan on shooting specifically for the challenge.
Learning photography usually demands us to get outside our comfort zone and try new things. I challenge everyone to use this challenge to grab the camera and get out there and experiment. Obviously, this isn't a requirement, but it could make for some interesting entries. Thanks again to all who voted for "Dick's Bench". God Bless all, and keep shooting."
- Use the attachment feature to show your photos (see directions above in the link to "How to Use This Board") in your post or link to them from your gallery or an offsite location that allows linking using the image codes. If you have trouble, please contact a moderator (name in blue) or an administrator (name in red) and we'll help you post your photo. If you have your photo in your gallery, please don't use the attachment feature as that puts the photo on our server twice but rather link to it. It's best if your photos are at least 500 pixels wide so that they are easily seen.
- Please upload up to 4 entries per member for this challenge.
- The challenge is open now and will be closed to uploads on June 23, 2008 and then we'll vote on them.
- Please tell us the camera you used to take your photo and when you took it. Please only enter photos taken by you.
- Please put a title above your photo. We need the title for the poll listing.
- Please post only one entry per post. .
- Of course, we're going to see who is posting the photos so this is not an anonymous challenge. So start posting. Click on the "Reply" button below and start this challenge!
Remember, this is a fun project!

"Bronco Rider"
[attachimg=#]
This is the image that inspired this challenge.
My family and I went to The National Western Stock Show and Rodeo last year. It is held here in Denver every January. I didn't bother to take my 35mmDSLR, but decided instead to take my little Nikon Coolpix 7900. It's a fun little camera, and I thought I would try some panning with it. I'll admit, there were many more failures than successes, but this shot seemed to have worked out. I played with the colors and saturation some.
Anyway, lets get this challenge started.
~V~
When taking photos for a Friend's wedding reception, I wanted to get a kind of motion effect of dancers for a slide show DVD that was to be made for them. I slowed down the shutter speed, and had some fun.

I took this of a lighted cross on a hill while traveling down the freeway at twilight one evening. The result reminded me of sort of an abstract interpretation of Acts 1:11.
Shot this at Christmas 2006. Grandson learnig to play drums. He was 3 years old in this picture.
Used Sony A-100, Auto exposure.
[attachimg=#]
The title of the picture is Ghost Cat.
As you may have guessed, the "Ghost Cat" is Timmy. And Bently is playing around in That little purple ball on the right. (he likes Timmy)

I took this pic with an 8 second shutter speed, and an f13 aperture.
How does that grab ya?!
This is two Common Buckeye Butterflies on a Black-eyed Susan. The Title is: "Getting To Know You." <3 The Camera is a Nikon D80 with Tamron 200-500-4.5-6.3 Telephoto Lense. I shot on the Close Up Program on Shutter Priority.

I know we were going to try and use recent pictures. But I just have to use this one.I took it in July of 2004 at Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina. It's a Red-Breasted Nuthach that defies gravity. You would think for sure that it's about to fall off this tree :eek: It really is sideways on the tree. These little Birds have perfect balance. :banana: I was still using my Nikon 6006 SLR amd a Tamron-200-400 Telephoto Lense. I was shooting on Automaic at about 1/1000 of a second. The Title is "Help! I'm Falling."

Kodak DX 4330 Auto setting this was a strange sight, to see how the ocean has eroded this rock.

Title: Running thru the Park
This photo is of my grandson Alex during our visit with them in March 2007.
I shot this with my Sony A-100...

I call this, In Passing, these are coal trucks at Warrington Bank Quay Station, photographed at 1/8 or 1/15sec as they were gently rolling through the station. These merry go round MGRs as they are known, do a big loop at the pit to pick up coal, then another big loop at the power station to unload.
[attachimg=#]
I was able to get another entry for the contest on Saturday. :thumbsup:A real bad Thunderstorm came through this area and I was able to get this lightning strike. I call this entry "God's Fireworks." :clap: I used a Nikon D80 and a Nikon 18-70 Lens. This wasn't a timed picture just one a caught at the right time. I used the Automatic setting (Shutter Priority) at 1/60th of a second.

Taken in Pontiac Michigan during a Vets memorial dedication, I love this grand Old Flag.......
I used a Sony Dsc-100, shot in scenic mode, with flash to fill some of the shadows......
I call this photo: "Flag of Honor"
[attachimg=#]
"Run, Janet, Run!"
I took this one by panning, during my neice's softball game with my Canon EOS 20D.

"Musical Perches? or Perch Hopping?" I can't decide what to call this one.
Our backyard feeder has become quite poplular. They sometimes fight over the perches, while many others await their turn on our trellis and in our trees and on our deck and in the grass and bushes. I caught this guy changing perches while one waits on top for a spot and another peeks around from behind. They are so much fun to watch!

Here is my Final entry for the challange, it was shot with the background with a sony dsc-100 in scenic mode, no flash, the golf ball was shot with a Nikon P-80, macro, and the additional golf balls were a product of Photoshop using blur, and smudge tools, as well as layering......
I call it: "Four"
[attachimg=#]
"Flying Irish"
Here's my last entry. I didn't take it just for this challenge, but I had to include it. This was taken at the rehearsal for the last Christmas Irish Dance Show my girls had. This is one of their good friends doing a "birdie", and doing it well! :)

Hello! I almost forgot about the deadline for this assignment. Thanks Gabe for reminding me! Here's my first submission:
"A Living Water"

This is my second submission. Taken just today at Canyon Lake, AZ. We went boating with church friends of ours. It was so much FUN and so refreshing (high of 113 degrees)! Our friends who own the boat are pros at wakeboarding and water skiing. I took this shot from the boat, about 50 feet away!

Again Pat,
We have quite a few entries that make it difficult to choose from, However I made my long list shortened it, than shortened it again, and finally voted........Great job everyone, after all it is to the Glory of the Lord Amen!
LarryBoy :whistle:
Amen, Larry!
It's a lot of fun and we're certainly seeing a lot of great photos entered lately into our challenges!
I haven't voted yet. I'm still thinking hard!
I just voted. I could easily have voted for 10, but narrowed it down to 5. Great shots, everyone! :thumbsup:
Yes, outstanding! I was amazed :o at some of the shots on here! Or, rather, just about all of them....
Weeko and Duke playing in the yard. After I took the shot, I noticed that they looked like they were line dancing.
[attachimg=#]
Awww... Loreen, that's a cute photo. Sure has a lot of motion in it too. Too bad the voting has started. Sure hope you enter the next challenge though.
By the way, a great big :welcome: to the Christian Photographers website. We have a great group of people on here.
:cp:
This was a real tough one to vote on! There were at least 3 or 4 others that deserved a vote.
Just as a question of couriosity. Does anyone beside me look at the photos in categories; Best picture with people, best picture nature, or best picture with animals?
Great pictures all around.
Papasmirf (Earl)
I try to look more at it thinking about the topic, as opposed to the subject of the photo.
I'm glad that most Photo Contests do have those categories. ;D I probably wouldn't have won a thing. But I've been fortunate to win some awards. ;D I'm just saying that because this contest is different. Take one subject and make a Challenge out of it. It deepens your love for photography and also offers a refreshing new way to show your pictures. By the way, the best honor I had placed on my pictures was at The Georgia Mountain Fair in Hiawasee, Georgia. It was 1994 and I still remember the excitement of winning "The Peoples Choice" award. That's what were doing here. Judges can be to critical. But for the Christian Photographers on this site to honor you with a vote means a lot more than money and ribbons. I say that hesitantly. It should mean more or at least be equal. :cp:
Steve
Fotobirder
I agree with the above comments. I have won a couple of People's Choice awards on my paintings, and it meant more than the blue and purple ribbons!
When does voting end?
Ah. Thank you. I shall now go scratch my itching anticipation.... *scratch* *scratch*
Hard to pick...my 4 favourites are all in the lead though, so that makes me happy. :)
Congratulations, Gabriel!
:groupwave: :groupwave: :groupwave: :groupwave:
