JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

How to Use This Board

Here's our
Twenty-Sixth Challenge for you all.

"PICK THE DAY"

Details:

  • This topic was chosen by Vic aka mossphoto, who won our  last Challenge.  The subject of the next Mini Challenge is PICK THE DAYVic says, "This challenge will be to go out and shoot on your chosen day of two that we have chosen and submit your best three to five shots.  The two days for shooting are:  Saturday, November 1st, or Wednesday, November 5th. We each need to pick one of those days, and (1.) Plan on shooting and where to do this, (2.) Edit your shots, (3.) Do Post Production, and (4.) Submit your best 3 to 5 shots.   The subject matter is Open.  You can choose the topic! The only rule is that it has to be on one of those two days, and you can only pick one day, not both."

  • Use the attachment feature to show your photos (see directions above in the link to "How to Use This Board") in your post or link to them from your gallery or an offsite location that allows linking using the image codes.  If you have trouble, please contact a moderator (name in blue) or an administrator (name in red) and we'll help you post your photo.  If you have your photo in your gallery, please don't use the attachment feature as that puts the photo on our server twice but rather link to it.  It's best if your photos are at least 500 to 600 pixels wide so that they are easily seen.

  • Please upload up to 5 entries per member for this challenge.

  • The challenge is open now and will be closed to uploads on November 12, 2008   and then we'll vote on them.

  • Please tell us the camera you used to take your photo and when you took it.  Please only enter photos taken by you.

  • Please put a short title above your photo.  We need the title for the poll listing.  If you want to tell us a bit about your photos, please do that in a separate post so that every post ONLY has the Title and then the Photo and that's all.

  • Please post only one entry per post.  .

  • Of course, we're going to see who is posting the photos so this is not an anonymous challenge.  So start posting.  Click on the "Reply" button below and start this challenge!
    Remember, this is a fun project!

Since I took my pictures on Saturday, I'll jump in First :anon: My wife and myself went to one of our favorite places to do the shooting. This challenge allowed me to choose my favorite topic which is Animals/Wildlife. The place is called Yellow River Game Ranch and has many great opportunities for Animal/Wildlife pictures. The first entry is called PigFace.  :laff: :laff: I hope you think he/she is cute and cuttlely. :roflBig: :nanadance: :pine:. Iused A Nikon D70S on Autufocus.

Bow Bridge

This one-lane bridge, which is on the historical register, was built in 1889, closed to traffic in 1983 and restored and reopened in 1999.

"He really Caught it"

[attachimg=#]

Another picture from Yellow River Game Ranch. My wife was throwing peanuts at this one Black Bears mouth. This picture shows the peanut not yet there. But the Bear was able to take it right out of the air. ;D Look at that mouth and you'll realize why she threw it instead of feeding it by hand. While we were saying "Want a Peanut Little Fella." :thinking: :thinking: :banana: He was saying "Just stick you're hand in a little farther." :roflBig: :roflBig: Of course, we were smarter than that. He's a big Fella up beside that little peanut. Camera was a Nikon D70S on AutuFocus setting.

Hydrangea

[attachimg=#]

This is a Hydrangea still blooming is our yard.  It is past it's peak, it is wet with rain and it was still a little dark.  But it has some color.

Remnant of a Fern Leaf

[attachimg=#]

This is the remnant of a fern leaf in our yard.  I had never really noticed that the ferns die off like the other leaves.  But what caught my eye was the skeleton of the stems contrasted with paper thin part of the leaf.

Chester

[attachimg=#]

At this point I made it to Chester.  It seems that everything is kept locked up here.  But I think they lost the key.  Years ago.

Wall Behind the Abandoned Store

[attachimg=#]

Again in Chester, this wall behind the abandoned store was covered with these vines.  They are not normally eye-catching until they turn red in the autumn.

Another vine on a different wall

[attachimg=#]

This was another vine on a different wall.  What fascinates me about this are the little suckers on the tentacles of the tiny branches.  But that is how The Creator made it possible for these plants to climb the wall and stay there.  And that's not adaptation, but design.  Those suckers are made to stay in place, as you might know if you ever tried to remove them from a wall.

By the way Pat, I thought 600 was the widest, but now I realize it is the smallest for an image.  What is the largest?  And I saw the max size 75 one place and 175 another.  Which is it Pat?  Thanks for your help.

I'll admit that because of the limited parameters (of only two specific days to shoot) I didn't think there would be many entries, but there are some great ones beginning to be posted now.  :thumbsup:

I did make it to the outside world this afternoon, Nov. 5th, so am able to participate after all.

Bunny Buddies

[attachimg=#]

My next entry is titled "Bunny Buddies."

I had to coax these Bunnies to come out of their hiding place to get this picture. There were so many varieties of animals at this place. A great place to visit anytime.
Camrea was a Nikon D70S using Autuomatic Focus.

"Leaf Source"

I shot my images on 11/05 because I was not feeling well on the 1st.  I took them all in my backyard.  I took it for granted that the sunshine we had in the morning would last until after school.  Oops!

So, I had some challenges, but worked with it.  That's what we photographers do...we work with the light we DO have.

Well, that's my last entry.  Wish I could've ordered up the weather.  It was a good challenge, though, to do what I could with what I had.  I enjoyed it.

"Found It"

[attachimg=#]

Shot with a Nikon D200, 12-24mm f/4.

The weather wasn't cooperating, neither was my schedule. So this will be my only entry. Basically, we've been missing the dog's tennis ball for a couple of weeks. Well, the wind came up on Tuesday night, and there it was, under the leaves, the next morning.

There are some great shots in this challenge.
