Breaking The Waves
[attachimg=#]
I hope we can have some fun with this. Butterflies, Insects any thing in action. I guess I should have said Animals in Action but didn't want to include domestic Animals. I took this picture in the Everglades while out on a Boat tour. Going out The Driver told us to watch for the Porpoises. I had a long Lens on my camera and saw that I was getting an Ear and a nose and all kinds of parts of the Porpoise. He said to wait til we came back and they would be there again. Firtunately, I put a smaller lens on my camera and was able to get this shot.

The Race Against A Goose
[attachimg=#]
I found this one in my portfolio. Shot two summers ago by the Rouge River near Lake Ontario.
The canoeist seemed racing against the fast swimming Canadian goose. So I guess this one fits the bill.
So....I hereby declare this photo as my first entry.
Keep the challenge going,

I was going through my folders, the only photo I had of wild life besides my children was this here "Dragon Fly"
OH I have another, will work on that later.

God re-affirms the love that He attached to all His creations.

Putting Your Best Foot Forward
[attachimg=#]
Great Pictures coming in. I love that Robin and the babies and all the other entries to. My next entry is one that took me forever to get. Every Wildlife Photographer I know loves the Least Bittern. It's a a very small bird that travels through the Reeds. But sometimes it poses for you and your able to get a picture like this entry. I took the picture this past February at The Vierra Wetlands in Melbourne, Forida. I used a Nikon D80 Camera on Automatic Focus.

Father And Son
[attachimg=#]
We don't get Least Bittern up here in Toronto, but we have plenty of wild geese.
Here is another shot. My final entry.
Shot in the spring of 2005 in Scarborough, Ontario
They seem to be talking to each other. As if a father is giving advice to his son.
Waiting for Mother

I took this picture at The St. Augustine Bird Rookery in St Augustine, Florida. During late April or early May, you never know what your going to see.These young Fledgling Great White Egrets are waiting for their mothers return.

A Sharp-shinned Hawk came by with its prey the other day. I didn't see the catch, so I don't know if he caught the prey in our yard or not, but he proceeded to eat it on top of our trellis. He was very alert as he ate, looking up and around with each bite.

Heintz Tinicum Wildlife Preserve
[attachimg=#]
As soon as I read the challenge, I thought of this image.
One fall day, just before sundown, Molly and I were heading for the exit at Heintz Tinicum Wildlife Preserve. The park closed at sundown, so we were in a hurry. As we turned the corner, we saw a small herd of deer coming down the road toward us, maybe 100 feet away.
For a few seconds we all stopped and looked at each other. Then Molly started to bark. Did I mention that Molly is our dog, a Rat Terrier. That started a great commotion. Half of the deer scurried down a bank into some brush. Others ran back along the road.
But two of them jumped ito the water and started to swim away. I was surprised. I didn't know that deer could swim. I guess I didn't think those slender legs could produce and motion in the water. But there they went across the lagoon and away to safety.

Backyard Moose
[attachimg=#]
I woke up to a moose in the backyard this morning. This picture was taken through a window, as I wasn't about to waltz up the girl!
Taken with a Canon S5IS
It really doesn't compare to the beautiful photos up here. I really am awed at the skill (and the cool cameras) others have displayed, but wanted to share this anyhow. It's my first moose photo!
I tried uploading it bigger, but the board wouldn't load it when I made it any bigger than this. How do you do it? :-\

"Frosty Finch" (aka snow cones anyone?) :)
This guy was so cute, eating our snow! He would stick his beak in, eat some, wipe it off and then go back in for more.

I voted, but missed Roufus on there and wanted to vote for it.
I voted also .... at the end, just made guesses 'cause they are all soooooo good!!
I have added "Roufus" to the list for voting, though some of you have voted already. Not sure what happened.
The standard of entries is again very high, some really great photos here. It was not easy trying to choose just 10 to vote for.
I'm sorry about a couple of entries being missed from the poll listing. I do apologize.
(Kevin, I presumed that you had checked things when you paged me and asked me to start the voting so I just moved a few "conversational" posts to our Conversation area and then unlocked the voting. I should have checked and again, I apologize.)

I'm so sorry, about this. Next time (and I hope that there is not a next time), don't do your voting but post in here that a photo has been left off the list and we'll fix that.
You can still vote for Kevin's photo by clicking on the "Remove Vote" by the poll and do your voting again.
Thanks, I took my votes off and revoted.
Those were hard choices! I felt bad having to choose on some of them.

I feel exactly the same way .... :-\
Me too. It was almost impossible to vote for just 10 when so many were of the greatest interest and quality. It was hard, hard, hard. Wonderful photos, folks.
Tough decision because all of them were good in different ways! :thumbsup:
I voted It was hard
Voting closes tomorrow!
Hope you've all voted!

Congratulations Everyone!
Now, we wait for
Kevin aka mybcjazz to tell us what the next challenge topic is! (Please send a description as to how you want the topic interpreted too. Thanks!!!)
Themz was good. ;D
Seriously, though, all of the entries were impressive- and the winners certainly earned their victory. Wow.
Sorry you didn't get yours in, Gabe! Next time, ok?
Congratulations to Kevin for 1st place, and also to second and third places. Congratulations to the ones that didn't win a place also, they are all winners and great photos. Keep shooting! :thumbsup:
Don
Congratulations!!! mybcjazz, fotobirder and shutterbugmom and to all contestants.
That was another fun contest. I enjoyed looking at all the entries.
Steve, I really love your shot of "Breaking The Waves"
It fully embodies the theme. You captured the motion and the excitement.
The angle and the composition is perfect. I could almost feel the water splashing on my face.
Again, great job Steve.
Laughing Peppers
I am honored to have my Roufus Hummingbird image selected as the winner for this Challenge. I love taking pictures of birds!
There were so many good images, and as others have mentioned, it was a fun theme! Congratulations to all who placed, and all who entered.
In His Grip,
Kevin
CONGRATULATIONS
To each one of you!
I can easily see why this is called a challange ... It's a (big) challange for us who are voting, too! ???
I can try, Ms. Pat! I hope so.
Thanks everybody for voting and saying the nice things about Breaking the ways. Any of you could take that picture if you just had the opportunity. Fortunately, I got the opportunity to take the picture. I liked the theme all creatures great and small. Kevin's beautiful picture of the tiny Rufus and the beautiful flowers and then my picture of a giant Porpoise. Now, On to the next Challenge. Oh, I forgot Laughing Peepers picture of the Canada Goose and baby. That was a precious picture.
Thanks to all for making it a success
Steve
I'm a little late, but my congratulations to all the winners is just as heartfelt as if I'd posted it on time.
CONGRATULATIONS ALL!!!
