Details:  

  • This topic was chosen by Fotobirder, who won our  last Challenge.

    His explanation:  "The topic is Scenics-Natural or Man Made.  I wanted to do  a Challenge with No Humans in the Photos.  Examples would be Waterfalls, Mountains, Downtown areas etc.  It can be any season."  


  • Use the attachment feature to show your photos (see directions above in the link to "How to Use This Board") in your post or link to them from your gallery or an offsite location that allows linking using the image codes.  If you have trouble, please contact a moderator (name in blue) or an administrator (name in red) and we'll help you post your photo.  If you have your photo in your gallery, please don't use the attachment feature as that puts the photo on our server twice but rather link to it.  It's best if your photos are at least 500 to 600 pixels wide so that they are easily seen.  Please keep your photos under 175 KB in size.

  • Please upload up to 4 entries per member for this challenge.  

  • The challenge is open now and will be closed to uploads on July 25, 2010  and then we'll vote on them.  

  • Please tell us the camera you used to take your photo and when you took it.  Please only enter photos taken by you.  

  • Please put a short title above your photo.  We need the title for the poll listing.  If you want to tell us a bit about your photos, please put it below your picture.

A Bridge of Friendship

Since I don't do landscape photography, I decided to take a picture that I had taken @ Cumberland Falls a couple of years ago and practice my smudge painting.  I'm pretty pleased with the overall outcome. ;)  It was a trip I went on with two very dear friends.  One is blind and can't appreciate the beauty of the scene, but the other still talks about how much she loves this image.  That is why I chose this title.

Splashing Horn

Kauai's famous Spouting Horn. Shot in evening light, each spout would create a rainbow.
This naturally occurring spout can reach 40 ft when the tides are right.

I am very honored.  Thank you.  Mrs. Barbarian's bridge photo was lovely, and so well composed, too.

Great Job Kevin. That Old Bridge and the reflection was a beauty. It was close between that one and The Quiet Bridge and Portland Light House. I was thinking we would have at least 7 votes with 50 entries. But 5 votes was sufficient and really made it a challenge. Congratulations to all the winners. Congratulations on your beautiful winning entry, Kevin. As soon as I saw it I said to myself "There's the winner". It was nicely composed with great reflections, and a classic "postcard" like scene. Great job! I was so sure it would win that I almost didn't enter any myself, but then decided to post some anyway, because if everyone thought that way, there would have only been a few entries.  :D
