Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

How to Use This Board

Here's our

82nd  Challenge for you all

suggested by JimD who won the last Challenge.

A P P E A L I N G

Details:

  • From JimD:  "What kind of photography is appealing to you?  This is a free study challenge for all of our members.   Any kind of photographic subject whether this is architecture, landscapes, people, animals/pets, nature, macros, etc. which you find most appealing are acceptable in this challenge."

  • Use the attachment feature to show your photos (see directions above in the link to "How to Use This Board") in your post or link to them from your gallery or an offsite location that allows linking using the image codes.  If you have trouble, please contact a moderator (name in blue) or an administrator (name in red) and we'll help you post your photo.  If you have your photo in your gallery, please don't use the attachment feature as that puts the photo on our server twice but rather link to it.

  • Please upload up to 4 entries per member for this challenge.

  • If you possibly can, please tell us the camera you used to take your photo and when you took it.  But if you don't know, please post the picture anyway.  We want to see your photos.  :)  Please only enter photos taken by you.

  • The challenge is open now and will be locked to uploads on Friday, May 23, 2014 and then we'll vote on them.

  • Please put a title in your post for your photos.  We need the title for the poll.

  • Of course, we're going to see who is posting the photos so this is not an anonymous challenge.  So start posting.  Click on the "Reply" button below and start this challenge!
    Remember, this is a fun project!

Thanks to JimD for suggesting this topic.  He was the winner of our last Challenge entitled "HISTORY".  Thanks JimD!

BULKY

[attachimg=1]

I love all aspects of photography, but images with heavy contrast played by light and shadows always appeal to me.
I shot this bulky Nikon D2XS with my other Nikon camera D300S. I used my black barbecue apron as background and with three inexpensive mini LCD flashlights I illuminated the subject from variable angles.

This camera is a gift from a good friend who is also a professional photographer.

Safely under His Wings

[attachimg=1]

Wildlife Photography is most appealing to me. I can't accept just any photo. It has to tell a story about Life itself. That's why I love this photo called "Safely under His Wings."

GROWING IN CHRIST

[attachimg=1]

Meaningful photography also appeals to me specially when it connects to my Christian faith.
The photo below is another example of my fondness of heavy contrast and dramatic lighting.

I discovered an onion growing in my kitchen, its leaves reaching out for light. It also inspired me to compose this shot.

I-PAD WIZARD

[attachimg=1]

While babysitting my two-year old granddaughter, I noticed the glow on her face
as she played a game on her dad's I-pad.
To create this effect, I spot metered the light on her face. (Shot with Nikon D300s)

"Flirt"

It's hard to say what I like best since I enjoy so wide a variety of subjects. I do very much enjoy post processing  some of my photo into digital art.
This male Brown Pelican dressed in his mating feathers is an example.

WINGS OF LIGHT

[attachimg=1]

Natural back lighting (as exemplified by the morning sun shining behind this swan) is another element in photography
that appeals to me.

Bald Eagle With a Fish

I had always been fascinated by pictures of birds in flight.  I always thought it would be very hard to get good pictures of birds while they were flying.  For the last few years I have been going up to the river to try and capture pictures of birds in flight.  The eagles come down the Mississippi River during the winter looking for food since a lot of the water up north is frozen over.  Watching the eagles fly and swoop down and grab a fish is amazing.  Watching the different kinds of birds and seeing how God designed them should make us all want to give glory and praise to God for the creation he lets us enjoy.

View From A Bench

I've always found older, interesting architecture an appealing subject to shoot. This is a view of the Gamble House in Pasadena, Ca. as seen from their bookstore's bench. I added texture layers and the vignette in PS Elements.

Designer Jeans

I have always found vintage/collectible things quite appealing thus, this somewhat "nostalgic" grouping I arranged of both old and newer seamstress related items.

CLEAR FOR TAKE OFF

[attachimg=1]

The best kind of Action in Bird Photos for me is when they are either Landing or Taking off. That's why I love this photo of A Pelican just starting to take off.

A TIME TO BUILD

Another Photo that tells A story. This Great Egret is not only in action but is in the process of building A nest.

I like to capture photos of the natural world that have an abstract feel to them.

I love Ospreys. They give you so many opportunities to get Action Photos like this one.
