JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

How to Use This Board

Here's our

88th  Challenge for you all

suggested by Fotobrider who won the last Challenge.

"CHRISTMAS MEMORIES"

Details:

  • From Fotobirder:  "Something special that happened concerning the Birth. It could be something in your Family, Places you've been or just anything that helps you Remember the Birth of Jesus.  It does not need to be something from Christmas day.  If the short title you provide isn't self-explanatory, add a short explanation below the photo.  Now think about those special memories you've had about A Special Christmas."

  • Use the attachment feature to show your photos (see directions above in the link to "How to Use This Board") in your post or link to them from your gallery or an offsite location that allows linking using the image codes.  If you have trouble, please contact a moderator (name in blue) or an administrator (name in red) and we'll help you post your photo.  If you have your photo in your gallery, please don't use the attachment feature as that puts the photo on our server twice but rather link to it.

  • Please upload up to 4 entries per member for this challenge.

  • If you possibly can, please tell us the camera you used to take your photo and when you took it.  But if you don't know, please post the picture anyway.  We want to see your photos.  :)  Please only enter photos taken by you.

  • The challenge is open now and will be locked to uploads on Monday, December 15, 2014 and then we'll vote on them.

  • Please put a title in your post for your photos.  We need the title for the poll.

  • Of course, we're going to see who is posting the photos so this is not an anonymous challenge.  So start posting.  Click on the "Reply" button below and start this challenge!
    Remember, this is a fun project!

Thanks to Fotobirder for suggesting this topic.  He was the winner of our last Challenge entitled "CHURCHES AND CATHEDRALS".  Thanks Fotobirder!

The Lowly Birth

[attachimg=1]

This is one of the Photos I took at Reelfoot Lake in Tennessee on Christmas Day 2004. There was A Snowstorm predicted for that area. So, we decided to go.We made it to Nashville, Tennessee in about 4 hours. Then we ran into A Road Block. It took us almost 8 hours just to Drive the last 200 miles. We got to Tiptonville where we were going to stay and our Tire Blew out. The people there were so nice. They put on our small Tire which later went flat. No one open on Christmas Day I was told. But the nice Gentleman opened up and Drove to our Motel and put on A new Tire. I will never forget how nice these people were. I was able to drive the beautiful area and take this photo That reminded me of Jesus Lowly Birth.

I think my story might have been to long. But it was hard to leave any thing out. I'll try to be shorter on the others. But if you need to tell the story please feel free to use more space.

I found your back story leading up to the capturing of your photo interesting, Steve.

An Owl For Christmas

[attachimg=1]

Back in the 1990's Louise and myself always went to Arkansas for Christmas. We always took some time to go look for the Birds in that area. We found this Levee that was on A River and decided to see what we could find. I had never seen an Owl  before. So, I actually prayed that "the Lord would let us see an Owl." About that time A large Bird flew down in front of us and back up into the Tree." It was A Barred Owl. All in all driving the Levee, we saw at least 20 Barred owls. Some were resting in the Trees and not moving. I will never forget this specail Memory when the Lord answered my Prayer.

Fotobirder

I hope others have special memories of the Christmas Season. If you don't have A picture of that specific event. I will allow you to just use A photo that would tell your story.

Now Let's see more entries.

The Morning After

[attachimg=1]

I always liked that title for this photo because this man reminded me of what Santa might look like after Christmas eve.
The kindness of this gentleman can be seen in his eyes. He was very gracious to me when I asked if I could disturb his breakfast to take his photo. He gave me a business card with a scripture on one side and his name (Santa Claus) on the other.
Photo was taken in October 2008 at Baldies Cafe in Seymore, MO.

Christ The Savior Is Born

[attachimg=1]

Every Year I look froward to putting out our Nativity Scene.We've had special memories down through the years. One year we looked out and  2 young kids had grabbed the Shepherds Rods and were standing where the Shepherds should have been. Another year we found our cat sleeping in the Manger. But it had started to wear on us and we weren't able to put it out anymore.
But the Lord sent us A very nice man named Wesley Smith who also mows are lawn. He help put the Nativity out. It just don't seem like Christmas unless it's there.

Out Of The Mouths Of Babes

It was many Christmases ago (30-40 yrs?) that I first saw the image of Santa Claus bowing before Christ in the manger. Immediately (and ever since) I was impressed with the thought of the secular world's "king" of Christmas bowing before the true King/reason for celebrating Christmas. So a few years ago I decided to arrange this scene of two of the most common characters people think of re' Christmas - children and Santa - praising baby Jesus and we now set it up on our coffee table every Christmas season.

Sunday School Nativity

One year our Sunday School performed the story of the nativity.  Everyone had a part to play, from kindergarten to high school and there was even included a live sheep.  As you can imagine, I had a hard time choosing which of the 28 photos to use here.

Boughs of Ice

[attachimg=1]

These "pine boughs" are actually ice that formed on our living room window during the Christmas holiday season in 2010.  Taken with a macro lens, to me the shapes of the ice look like branches of pine trees.
