Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Carol: My husband Don is with the angels.....Our family was able to hold  ourselves together for the last moments.  Juar rhoufhr you might want to know. 2022-04-29, 23:35:15

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

JennyW: Autumn is shaping up to be quite beautiful this year! 2021-10-02, 12:24:03

How to Use This Board

WE'RE VOTING UNTIL MAY 23

CHOOSE 5 ALL AT ONE TIME

THEN CLICK ON "SUBMIT"

"CREATIVE LIGHTING"

Details:

  • From LaughingPeppers:  "What I mean by creative lighting is the effort put by the photographer to manipulate light in relation to shades and shadows to achieve a compelling shot. With side-lighting and back-lighting, a simple subject can look sculpted and theatrical. I challenge everyone to post the most dramatic shots using creative lighting.
    Happy shooting and Good Luck!"

  • Use the attachment feature to show your photos (see directions above in the link to "How to Use This Board") in your post or link to them from your gallery or an offsite location that allows linking using the image codes.  If you have trouble, please contact a moderator (name in blue) or an administrator (name in red) and we'll help you post your photo.  If you have your photo in your gallery, please don't use the attachment feature as that puts the photo on our server twice but rather link to it.

  • Please upload up to 4 entries per member for this challenge.

  • If you possibly can, please tell us the camera you used to take your photo and when you took it.  But if you don't know, please post the picture anyway.  We want to see your photos.  :)  Please only enter photos taken by you.

  • The challenge is open now and will be locked to uploads on Friday, May 15th, 2015 and then we'll vote on them.

  • Please put a title in your post for your photos.  We need the title for the poll.

  • Of course, we're going to see who is posting the photos so this is not an anonymous challenge.  So start posting.  Click on the "Reply" button below and start this challenge!
Remember, this is a fun project!

Thanks to LaughingPeppers for suggesting this topic.  He was the winner of our last Challenge entitled "TEXTURE".  Thanks LaughingPeppers!

In the Spotlight

Rays from the late afternoon sun filtered through the forest and dramatically lit up the yellow petals on this flower.

Sandhill Crane

This Sandhill Crane soared across the sky in front of the setting sun, so I metered on the sky to capture a silhouette of him.

Lanai Sunset

Taken from an evening whale watch off Maui. A small storm came up over Lanai. Everyone on the boat was watching the sunset and not the whales.
God's creations are awesome.

Great Northern

This photo may be outside the scope of Mario's topic, if so, I apologize.  The setting was compelling in that there was a full moon lighting up the clouds and casting ample light across the locomotive shop area of the former GN Railway at Havre, MT.  Wanting the yard lights to show star patterns, I stopped down to f/11 for a one second exposure. The end result was better than I thought possible in that situation.

Sun Dogs

This is a pretty rudimentary example of manipulating light for a photograph.  My thumb is blocking the direct sun in order to allow the exposure to capture the sun dogs left and right of the sun.  Without blocking the sun, the sun dogs would be lost.

For more information about sun dogs, check out this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_dogs
