Title: Archbishop of All Russia Spotted in Lancashire Pub
Post by: Summicron on March 11, 2008, 10:08:32 PM
Yes that's as true as I'm sitting at this computer writing this post. How did this happen, well I'm not sure, Archbishop Christodoulos, the head of the Russian Orthodox church did come to Darwen to speak in a local pub. The first I knew about this, was a friend Julie, "Be a sweet an answer the phone, it might be Jeff," I did, "Its not Jeff, its a woman, sounds a very foreign accent to me, she wants Duncan, 'Duncan are you there?" Duncan in back garden. "Who is it," "Don't know, its a woman, she wants to speak to you." Duncan comes in answers the phone, when he's finished, he says to me, "you know who you've just been speaking to on the phone?" "No." "The Archbishop of Russia's wife." "Really." "Yes." That was my  total involvement in bringing the Archbishop over to England.

Why did he want to come to a small town in Lancashire? Well there is a charity here called, International Aid Trust, that sends aid to the people affected by the Chernobyl disaster, and especially an orphanage that helps treat children who are ill through radiation sickness, from the radioactive fallout from the plant. Incidently, if you don't already know it, Chernobyl, means wormwood, as in the Book of Revelation.

The charity is also linked to The Full Gospel Buisness Mens Fellowship International, and it is through this body that the Bishop of all Russia was invited to speak and give his testimony, at a pub high on the moors overlooking Darwen. Although I Have been to a few FGBMFI meetings, they left me emotionally feeling like being on the outside looking in, so I never went to this particular evening.
