Am a young photographer who uses my skill to assist my ministry in the States, as well as abroad. The information shared in this poll will assist in purchasing equipment to store and catalog digital photos. Would enjoy learning from your experiences. Thank you, and Merry Christmas.

all4agape, I'm afraid you misunderstand the use of a poll.  Using the poll you have posted, you are asking us to choose what we want to learn about external storage devices, but I believe you wish to have us explain our choices so that you can learn.

If I am correct, it would be much better to simply state your request for information in a posted message.  :)

I use an external hard drive for my pictures.  I have two WD My Book hard drives.  One is always hooked up to my computer.  I put my pictures on that hard drive first, then I will go through and delete all my bad pictures, then I will make a backup of those pictures to another external hard drive.

My photos go from my camera to my computer. I then back them up on a western digital black internal hard drive.

The drive is not mounted in a computer, I use a docking station to mount the drive so I can store it in a safe place when not in use.

I also burn all photos to DVD's. You can't have too many back ups.

It's also a good idea to have another back up, either on DVD's or a hard drive, that you store at another location away from your residence  just in case of fire or some other event.

Hope that helps
