Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

I shot this to show the capabilities of the Oly SP570.  This was shot with no extra lenses or attachments (except tripod) on black velvet.  The actual feather size was about 1 inch.

Thanks!  Believe it or not, I was just playing around.  I had just received the Oly and was just pointing and shooting stuff.  I thought, "Hmmmmm... wonder how close I can get to that feather".  So, I stuck it on a tripod, set it to super macro and clicked it.  The REALLY funny thing is:  It received a "Photo of the Day" on Photographer's Voice.   ;D

Summicron

Some really nice light on that feather brings out the detail well.

Whoa, that's awesome.  Looks like it was under a magnifying glass!

Don

Great photo Gary! A good example here to show how important lighting is. That is a awsome little camera.

Thanks, Don.  Good lighting and a tripod!  ;)

I've been agonizing for a couple years now on whether to go dSLR or not.  But, it seems each and every time I'm ready to take the plunge, I am reminded of a couple of my friends lugging around all their lenses and other accoutrements and puts things into perspective for me.  I'm a hobbyist.  I don't NEED the big guns.  I really like this camera.  It's one step below a dSLR and continually surprises me with it's capabilities.  It continues to rise to any challenge that comes along and that's all I can ask.  It does have it's limitations, of course.  But, I accept them and work around, through, or with them.
