Title: Lady Turtle
Post by: jimiam on July 10, 2011, 10:03:28 AM
This gal had just completed laying a clutch of eggs and was covering them up when I discovered her.
I was very tempted to steal an egg or two but better judgement prevailed.

Kassie found one of these, but Joh prevailed and it was put back in to the creek.  She was quite pretty, and in reality I was sorry to see her go.

This is a lovely picture, and quite the experience for you!

I think you made the right decision.

What would you have done with the eggs?

It would have been interesting to watch them hatch.

I picked one up on the highway just a few days ago. It was the fastest one I have ever tried to catch, boy could that guy run, I took it home to show to my grandkids and told them I was going to keep him to enter in a turtle race.

I didn't keep him but a few minutes before I took him back to the ditch.

I would have just observed the hatching and released them back into nature. Although I enjoy most creatures I have little use for personal pets. I do however keep creatures for observation for brief periods.
