Apple Crisp

4 C. sliced pared tart apples or 1 No.2 can   (2½ cups) sliced pie apples, drained
1/4 C. orange juice
1 C. sugar
3/4 C. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
Dash of salt
1/2 C. butter or margarine

Mound apples in buttered 9-inch pie plate or 9-inch square pan; sprinkle with orange juice.  For topping, combine sugar, flour, spices, and dash salt; cut in butter until mixture is crumbly; then scatter over apples.

Bake in moderate oven (375°) 45 minutes or until apples are done and topping is crisp.  Serve warm with cream or ice cream.  Makes 6 servings.

I can "vouch" for this recipe, folks!  Etta Sue posted this in our previous CP... and I've made it several times! :D

Its delicious,a and very easy!

I've never done it with the canned apples though, only the cooking apples.

Even easier using canned apples eh Etta Sue?? ::)

I like this recipe because it doesn't use Instant or Quick Oats.  I like Oats but not on my Crisps!!!

Ruth, the orange juice keeps the apples from turning dark while you mix the 'crisp', too!   ;)

Hmmm! I have apples on the counter now.  Now I need some orange juice and I am all set to make Apple Crisp!

Jenny. England. 2.40p.m.

Etta Sue.  I will try this. ..... We call this Apple crumble over here.  I have a recipe for microwave crumble somewhere...Another time.  It uses oats.

Now I can see you love apple anything!

"An apple a day keeps the doctor away"...we wish. With the added juice it should help keep colds at bay! So we can indulge and kid ourselves that it's good for us...yes?
