Great, Judy!

Now my Dump Cake is a little different.

Dump Cake

Spray a loaf cake pan with Pam.

Dump in 21 oz. size can of Crushed Pineapple....juice and all

Dump on top of that a 21 oz. can of a fruit pie filling that goes with pineapple.

Dump on top of that dry white or yellow cake mix

Arrange on top of that 1½ sticks of margarine cut in pats

Then dump on ½ C of chopped nuts.

Bake at 350° for 1 hour.

This makes a kind of 'crisp' dessert like Apple Crisp.

Are the nuts required?  I would like to try this but have someone in the house that can't eat nuts.

2.10 p.m.

Oh, we do have that but it's made by Spry ...a spray on for tins etc., they also make "Crisp 'n Dry" for chips... Etta Sue.

We love SPAM too in this house.....mind you a lot of older folks won't eat it...reminds them of rationing in the war.....same with rhubarb....it was all rhubarb pie or rhubarb crumb le when I was small.  I love it though!

I've got a tin of pineapple now so will have a go and let you know...No nuts though...I broke a tooth on a nut in the muesli and that's another unpleasant story...Involves a dentist and you don't want to know!

Hello New Sue.

Bye for now.
Jenny.

I make a cake similar to this Dump Cake. only I use a White cake mix, dump in 3 eggs, 1/4 cup and the juice. I save out 1/4 cup of the crushed pineapple and juiced and use it in the Cream Cheese frosting for the topping. The pineapple and the juice are the only liquid in the cake and frosting.

That sounds so good too, Marilyn.

I made a banana cake on the weekend, and frosted it with a cream cheese frosting.  I love cream cheese frosting.

Most carrot cakes are frosted this way.  I'm not a fan of carrot cake, though...find it too dry.

Speaking of Dump cake..... did anyone see Tammy Faye on Larry King one night last week?  Well, this made me laugh.... Larry asked Tammy Faye what Dump Cake was... apparently Tammy Faye mentioned it in her book, told Larry that it was a cake she made when she DUMPED Jim!

She told Larry the ingredients, and they were exactly the same as what Etta Sue and I use! ;D

I saw that program but I missed that, Judy!  HAHAHAHA!

The first time I ever had Dump Cake was at Judy's home maybe 34 years ago.  I know that Andrew was in a stroller and he just had his 35th birthday this week.

Marilyn, I like the sound of yours.  Could you post it in its own topic maybe?  And call it something a bit different?  LOL

Thank you for that description of Cool Whip Marilyn.  I'm not sure I would have known how to say what it is.

Yes, Jenny, I think you are right.  Those of us in North America certainly do enjoy our food.  And there are just as many "diets" to prove it!

Zach..

Hi sweetheart.  Elmlea Cream is a Buttermilk and Vegetable oil blend product, bought over the counter.  It tastes like cream but is healthier..low cholesterol and better for my I.B.S.....better Made by:- Van den Bergh Foods Ltd., Crawley, England.  but I am sure you will have one similar in U.S.
It is made in single, double or Whipping varieties, just like real cream.

Oooh I had something lovely last week...Creme Fraiche....ooohhh try that...It is low in cholesterol.  It is half the fat of full cream but it is so delicious with apple and blackberry pie.

Another lovely thing is Organic Natural Yoghurt...lovely used instead of cream on fruit pies.......

I am going now before my cholesterol goes through the roof just thinking about it!!!  :P

Don't tell your Mum I am encouraging you to eat all this stuff..... :o

Love you.
Jenny
