The Sigma 70-300 DG macro zoom is remarkably good for a low-priced telephoto.
Whoa! Now THAT'S impressive! Well done.
I just got my DSLR last week (Oly E-410) so I'm having fun learning the little in's & out's.
WOW, that is awesome.
Way to go.
I would have walked right by that!
The picture has amazing focus and depth of field. Did you use a tripod?
Beautiful, Barbarian!
That really is lovely Barbarian!
I have a few of those. Must look them up.
Nice Barbarian!
Don
Lovely capture.

No tripod. I got down on my belly, about 2 meters from the dandelion, and used a very small aperature to get the depth of field needed. There was plenty of sun in an open area, with dark woods behind, so it turned out rather well.

Mrs. Barbarian just got her Olympus E-410 a month or so ago; she loves it. I'm amazed how light and compact it is. And then it hit me; the top looks remarkably like the old Olympus OM-1 so tiny and light that it revolutionized 35mm SLR design.

I'm rather impressed with it as well. It's my first DSLR and except for the lens thing, it's pretty portable. I have a Nikon P90 for that, though. Here's my rendition of your subject. I wasn't as ambitious as you. I picked it, brought it indoors and shot it against black velvet using a tripod and the kit lens. See what you think

Beautiful Barbarian. I like the set up.
I have some of these. However, the background is not like your's. Your's is great.
