My daughter turned four. A tradition I started last year is to bring home flowers on her birthday (one for each year). I'll probably end up photographing them every year too. A couple versions...

Nice Tim. Lavender seems a very photogenic color and what better subject for it than a rose? A wonderful tradition, though after she's 12 you might want to grow your own. ;) (just joking)
What beautiful flowers and such a lovely shade of lavender. I especially love the single blossom.
I like them both but #1 is my fav here. I believe I would have left a little "breathing room" on #2.
Thanks, folks.
Gary- I see what you mean about breathing room, thanks. I went back the original to re-crop but I had the bottom of the flower at the edge. Oh well. Learning experience. The last time I setup a backdrop and took pictures of flowers was last year when my daughter turned three.

Thanks. I know, it's going to get expensive, but I think it will be a fun tradition. I may not always get roses, it might be fun to get more creative and have some element of surprise as to "what will he come home with this year".
My seven year old son is asking me to get some for his next birthday, so now everyone wants birthday flowers! ;D
They are beautiful...I can almost smell them here in my sitting room!
Yeah, I see Gary's point and don't completely disagree. But I do think pushing the frame at times can make for a more dramatic effect. However, with close ups, I tend to overfill the frame. I prefer the first shot, but both are quite good.
I like them. Great tradition for a blessed child. You are a fine reflection of our Heavenly Father.
You folks are wonderful. Thanks for all the feedback and kind words. :)
