When it comes to identifying flowers, ain't a clue, no this wasn't taken in some exotic desert location, it was growing in somebody's front garden, when I passed this morning, the red inner leaves were so red that you couldn't miss looking at it, but when I peered right inside, there was this cluster of the most exquisite powder blue flowers nestling right inside, what this succulent is, I've no idea at all.

Nice sharp image Summicron.
Looks like it might be a variety of Bromeliaceae. There are lots of them. Pineapple is a bromeliad.

Don
This is a beautiful flower.
I remember when I lived in N Ireland for the school year there were books that we could look into and work through to identify plants. Number of leaves, shape of leaves, number of petals on the flower etc. I loved these books. You may be able to find such a book in a library. I have never been able to find such books for North American flowers.
Whatever it is, Summicron, you got a beautiful picture of it. ;)

I believe you're right, Don. That was my first guess.
Yes and I've just been looking Bromeliaceae up on the internet, and I think it is a pineapple, not that I can see it will ever bear fruit, but the plant does does match the picture of a pineapple in flower.
