Title: Neverending Story
Post by: karmat on June 01, 2005, 03:19:49 PM
They started one of these on dpchallenge, and it has been hilarious.

Here's how it works.  I post the start of a story (one or two sentences).  The next person then adds to the story, then so on and so on.  If you have a picture (a small one), either yours or another's that illustrates the "sentence" that seems to add to the humor.

Let's begin . ..

Once upon a time, in a land far far away, but not so long ago, lived a small man by the name of Fred.  He loved to sit for hours and contemplate the meaning of life

Fred thought and thought about the situation.  He really loved birds but there were none here.  What in the world would he do?

He thought about this and came up with a wild plan.

He'd learn to whistle like the birds.  So off Fred went whistling everywhere he went until one day...

His heart raced.  His pulse fluttered.  He just knew that this was the flock of birds he had anxiously been awaiting and whistling for.

But when it got to him, he was shocked and amazed to see that  . . .

be braver than he'd ever been.  With one reaching hand, he tapped on the bird's head.  "Heh!  Do you know there's a boulder looming in front of you?"  His words were caught by the wind, seemingly unheard, and before Fred could think more, the boulder that was before them opened wide and they were inside.

Suddenly, a chorus of bats and small rodents began singing,

"Way up in the sky, little lamb?
Do you see what I see?

A star a star shining in the night,
With a tail as big as a kite

With a tail as big as a kite."

Fred was awed by the beautiful sound, so much so, that he . . .

...go to the store (if he could find a store) to buy more bananas.  He had a need for bananas to raise his potassium level in his body which was now dangerously low!

So, off he went looking for "The Great Banana Store"!

As he walked along looking this way and looking that way, suddenly out of nowhere...

"Oh, no.  Oh, no.  You can't be here.  You simply can't be here now.  You'll have to leave immediately before it's too late.."

With that, the squat little store clerk began....

As he finished the aria and he wiped his brow on his messy looking apron, out of nowhere came running from around the corner a dog carrying a bunch of bananas.

Oh, my!  How happy the hero of our story was but just as he reached out to get one of these lovely bananas that would certainly help his potassium level, a

"I know where you live!" So Fred stole the store clerk's motorcycle, and rode away.

After riding a few miles, a police car pulled up behind him  and started flashing his lights.

Suddenly, Fred remembered that he had forgotten to steal the clerk's helmet as well. Thus breaking the law.

So, the police officer leaned out his window, and using his megaphone, yelled........

So Fred pulled over, the cop  got out of his car and came up to Fred and Fred said to the officer "That wasn't very nice to call me an idiot I demand an apology" Promptly the officer apologized, when to the trunk of his cruiser and took out something very special for Fred. It was a helmet and inside the helmet was a bunch of bananas. So Fred put the helmet on and headed for the bat cave on the motorcycle thinking "that cop didn't even know this motorcycle was stolen".
