Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Hi Everyone !
I just need some advise from someone who might know.
I just got back a couple of films and one whole film and another half of a film were blurry with like action streaks across them.
Does anyone know what this is caused from ???

Please let me know if you have any idea?
Thanks
Geri-Jean

The second one almost looks like a double exposure. Sorry I can't help you.

I would suggest that the ASA/ISO setting on your camera was different from the film speed. And you probably corrected it halfway through the second roll.

The problem is, I had it on Automatic.
I tryed some manual photos on yet another film and itis STILL doping it.
Yet it is not consistent. There ARE som eok photos in this last roll, but also STILL some blurred, and some BLANK negatives in between.
I am taking it in soon tho the camera shop to be looked at.

Well, I am taking my friends camera in to the photo shop today.
Please agree with me that her camera will come back"BETTER" than when she lent it to me.
She was SO generous and trusting to let me use it.
I pray there is nothing seriously wrong with it.
Thanks everyone and God BLess.

I am no means a film expert, but it kinda looks like the "door" that closes over the film is not sealing completely, causing light to "leak" in and improperly expose the shot.

Or, (not knowing anything much at all about film) would it be possible that the film was moving or rolling while being exposed?

plamlam

Looks a lot like double exposure of light leak...

Most likely one of those two...

What type of camera are  we talking about here?

now that I'm looking at them again...

Did you have all 3 rolls done at the same place at the same time?

How old is your film or is it relatively fresh?

I would try shooting a new roll of film, process at a different place.

I'm beginning to suspect that it is not the camera but the lab or film you used.

If they were really double exposures I should be able to make out vaguely 2 images but I can't.  It looks like someone took a painting and smudged it around which could either be old film, or your lab overheated the chemicals and your negatives got cooked (more likely).

Look at Robert Cappa's images of D-Day...  His images are blurry cuz' they overcooked his negatives.  Does funny things to them and now he's famous for his lab jacking up his negs  ;D

P.S:  Light leaks are usually white...  So I retract my statement that it might be light leak.

Thanks, Actually I have used up 5 films. Same problem. There are some with streaks, then some of the negatives are completely blank,
then some of the photos are fine. The negatives that are bad seem to run into the negatives beside them.
I have also tried a different photo place and changed my batteries and used a different batch of film. same ...
SO... I am taking my camera into the shop today, They will probably send it to minolta.
Hopefully it won't cost much. But hopefully even more that they CAN fix it.
Thanks so much

So, what was the final verdict?

PS -- I've also seen yellowish-orange light streaks, but it may have been the film/processing that caused them to be yellow instead of white.

AwakenedHeart

Well Karmat, thanks for asking.
Actually, I took it in to the camera shop the other day and he said that it wasn't really worth fixing, only in the way that it is so old and everyone is going to digital.
So, I sent it off for a quote, to see if it even can be fixed.
He thinks it has something possibly to do with the shutter getting stuck open while it is still moving or something.
Anyway. If I can I will get it fixed. he also said that it didn't have anything to do with anything I did. Which is a relief. Because it is not my camera.
Thanks for asking Karmat.

I was wondering the same, Geri-Jean.  At least you've had some news but not sure if it's good or bad.

With everyone looking at digital now, it really is something to think about--our old 35mm cameras.  I have a terrific one upstairs (Yashica FR1 with motor drive and a few various lenses) and I'm wondering if it's worth keeping.

I'd like to get the new Olympus E-500!

Yah Pat. I still like the quality of photos from the "old" camera.
I am seeing that you really need a HIGH quality digital to get some High Quality photos. The little digital that I won isn't consitent in taking good photos. I find the close up macro, which isn't all that close up is the best setting.
I have to doctor the photos up with psp, just to make them
look good.
Taking portraits and landscapes are really grainy.

I will keep you posted on what happens with my friends camera.
Thanks for your help and prayers.
I have sent it away for a quote.
For my girlfriends sake, I am praying that it CAN be fixed.

Our first digital was the Nikon Coolpix 950 which Jack's buddies at work gave him when he retired.  Well, I feel that the macro shots taken with that camera are next to perfect.  They are much better quality than those taken with my upgraded camera, the Coolpix 8700.

Andrew just got camera on eBay, the Nikon Coolpix 990 for about 200.00 Canadian and that's a terrific deal for a great little cameral.

Wow ! 200.00 sounds like an awesome deal!
I am grateful for the camera I won. Cause now I know that I would LOVE a good Digital Camera.
It is SO nice to take pictures of whatever I want and upload them NOW. What creative freedom it gives me !
My boyfriend has a pentax camera, and he just got a great deal on ebay for a newer one. He says I can use his camera once he gets the new one.
I am excited about that. It is a much lighter camera then the Minolta.
