Title: I have a question
Post by: bhdc on June 07, 2010, 06:51:25 PM
 Hi,
I have noticed that som people put their names or the names of thier businesses on their photos after they post them. I was wondering what kind of program they use to do that. Is it photoshop or is it something else?

There is several ways it's done.  Sometimes the website that you share from may put them on for you automatically;  or, you can do it manually in Photoshop, Paintshop Pro, et al;  or, there is software out that is specifically made to do it for you in bulk.

Easiest way ever is to use Picasa. Select what pics you want, then click to export them and when you do there is an add watermark option. Then add your watermark. It adds them to the bottom right side. Just save the pics at a lower resolution so when you do post them, combined with your watermark, it'll make stealing them for someone worthless due to the quality and identity they were given.

If you need a bigger one, then you add it in Photoshop. Which if you go that way, I'll tell you how to do it.

Photoscape (http://www.photoscape.org/ps/main/index.php) is free and will add text-I don't know if it can be considered a watermark since you can't add the symbol but you could write 'copyright'. It's a small easy and fun program to use which doesn't require a major learning curve. If you just want to add name it will work. and ChevyGal response is correct in lowering the quality of photo. If anybody tries printing it wont look as good. Keeping them at a smaller size also discourages....Photoscape will do what you need til you get warmed up. I bought a watermark called UMark 4 yrs ago it batches-I've found that placement on one photo might not be right placement for the others.  :) :) :) Well wishing in search....
