Title: What kind of bag do you have?
Post by: CheckSix on January 14, 2005, 07:51:43 PM
My Lowepro Linx is getting to small to hold all my goodies. I never realized shopping for a bag could be so frustrating! Just out of curiousity, what brand and model bag do you have? I am biased towards Lowepro just because I've heard so many great things about their bags and quality, not to mention I own several of their products.

Well, I just ordered the Lowepro Mini Trekker Classic.  Thought about the AW version, but I didn't think the extra was really worth it.  I'm not going to be hiking in the rain, but do like the size of it to be able to fit all my junk into it.

I just bought a huge canon backpack.  I love it.

I use the Lowepro Orion Trekker.

I really like it for my use.

I use a Lowpro minitrekker backpack on long trips but my shooting bag is just a canvas bag that I fitted with padding inside.

I don't like having an obvious photo bag.  People notice it and shy away knowing you have a camera and can we say pick-pockets?  Hard to blend in when you have a big bag that says lowpro, tameron, etc... on the side  8)

What a good idea.  I had never thought of using a different bag for that reason.  I really like my Lowepro Orion for just short trips.  And I have the Trekker for hiking.

When nard and I get our dslr systems (woohooo) in the next few weeks (bigger woohooooo), I would like to get a Lowepro Mini Trekker or a Tamrac bag.  I really want one of the "backpack" styles.

I use the Lowepro Orion Trekker backpack.... I love backpacks, and this one holds all my camera gear nicely.  It also has room for my rolled-up waterproof jacket in its pouch, a small notebook, my fold-up reflector set, a pair of gloves, a small flashlight, extra batteries, hand moisturiser, cellphones, car keys ---- the list goes on! LOL

OK... I know it's been a year since anyone posted in this thread, but.... ;)  I got a new bag for Christmas.  It's a Lowepro Slingshot 200 http://lowepro.com/Products/Sling_Bags/Designed_for_Digital/SlingShot_200_AW.aspx (http://lowepro.com/Products/Sling_Bags/Designed_for_Digital/SlingShot_200_AW.aspx).

I've got a big backpack that holds just about everything I own, a smaller Lowepro that's almost big enough, which I usually take with me everywhere because the backpack is so big and heavy to haul, (especially since I don't like hauling stuff I know I won't need).

This new bag is my compromise bag.  It's big enough to carry what I need but not too big.  It's easy to pull stuff out without even taking it off.  I'm looking forward to actually using it!  :)

I have so many bags and carrying devices around that it's hard to recall what I have.

My main bag is a Domke J1 carry bag.  I also use a Velocity 9 for small work.  When I go out into the field, I wear a photographers vest and a belt system that holds my gear.

I've tried several bags over the years, had a Billingham once, it literally began falling apart, tried a bag make that quality airline luggage was made from, forgot the name of it, that fell apart. Got a Crumpler now, Harry Palmer Device, might be a bit small for what your looking for,  but its inch thick padding all the way round, and velcro pads that could wake the dead, its a good deterrent to would be pickpockets, and you can chuck e'm in the washing machine, and they come out like new. What I don't like about them is the clasps, they tend to get hooked between bench slats, and its a work of art getting them free, Michael.

Never have used a dedicated camera bag. I have always used a backpack with, say and extra jacket or hat for padding inside.
