Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Jesus Out in the Open
John 7:1-31  NLT

1After this, Jesus stayed in Galilee, going from village to village. He wanted to stay out of Judea where the Jewish leaders were plotting his death. 2But soon it was time for the Festival of Shelters, 3and Jesus' brothers urged him to go to Judea for the celebration. "Go where your followers can see your miracles!" they scoffed. 4"You can't become a public figure if you hide like this! If you can do such wonderful things, prove it to the world!" 5For even his brothers didn't believe in him.

6Jesus replied, "Now is not the right time for me to go. But you can go anytime, and it will make no difference. 7The world can't hate you, but it does hate me because I accuse it of sin and evil. 8You go on. I am not yet ready to go to this festival, because my time has not yet come." 9So Jesus remained in Galilee.

10But after his brothers had left for the festival, Jesus also went, though secretly, staying out of public view. 11The Jewish leaders tried to find him at the festival and kept asking if anyone had seen him. 12There was a lot of discussion about him among the crowds. Some said, "He's a wonderful man," while others said, "He's nothing but a fraud, deceiving the people." 13But no one had the courage to speak favorably about him in public, for they were afraid of getting in trouble with the Jewish leaders.

14Then, midway through the festival, Jesus went up to the Temple and began to teach. 15The Jewish leaders were surprised when they heard him. "How does he know so much when he hasn't studied everything we've studied?" they asked.

16So Jesus told them, "I'm not teaching my own ideas, but those of God who sent me. 17Anyone who wants to do the will of God will know whether my teaching is from God or is merely my own. 18Those who present their own ideas are looking for praise for themselves, but those who seek to honor the one who sent them are good and genuine. 19None of you obeys the law of Moses! In fact, you are trying to kill me."

20The crowd replied, "You're demon possessed! Who's trying to kill you?"

21Jesus replied, "I worked on the Sabbath by healing a man, and you were offended. 22But you work on the Sabbath, too, when you obey Moses' law of circumcision. (Actually, this tradition of circumcision is older than the law of Moses; it goes back to Abraham.) 23For if the correct time for circumcising your son falls on the Sabbath, you go ahead and do it, so as not to break the law of Moses. So why should I be condemned for making a man completely well on the Sabbath? 24Think this through and you will see that I am right."

25Some of the people who lived there in Jerusalem said among themselves, "Isn't this the man they are trying to kill? 26But here he is, speaking in public, and they say nothing to him. Can it be that our leaders know that he really is the Messiah? 27But how could he be? For we know where this man comes from. When the Messiah comes, he will simply appear; no one will know where he comes from."

28While Jesus was teaching in the Temple, he called out, "Yes, you know me, and you know where I come from. But I represent one you don't know, and he is true. 29I know him because I have come from him, and he sent me to you." 30Then the leaders tried to arrest him; but no one laid a hand on him, because his time had not yet come.

31Many among the crowds at the Temple believed in him. "After all," they said, "would you expect the Messiah to do more miraculous signs than this man has done?"

Which of Jesus' teachings are difficult for you to accept?

Jesus' brothers had a difficult time believing in him.  Some of these brothers would eventually become leaders in the church (James, for example), but for several years they were embarrassed by Jesus.  After Jesus died and rose again, they finally believed.

We today have every reason to believe because we have the full record of Jesus' mirables, death, and resurrection.  We also have the evidence of what the gospel has done in people's lives through the centuries.  Don't miss this opportunity to believe in God's Son.

Ritz ~ Now I want to go to Alabama.  My husband was from Anniston and we used to go there 3-4 times a year.  I miss those mountains.  I am thinking you are near US231 or US431.  Can you see the Tennessee River from your place?  Beautiful country, right?

Karma ~ Tony called me tonight and he and Charlene are spending the night at Maggie Valley, NC.  I know you know where that is!  Not too far from you!  I would have told you they were your way sooner but I didn't know when they would get near you.  They left last Friday morning for Pennsylvania and started the Skyline Drive/Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia.  He said he laid his BMW down Monday.  Skinned his knee and broke off a mirror.  Turning in gravel so wasn't going very fast.  All is okay now.  Duct tape holds on mirrors, too!

Off to Grand Rapids again tomorrow.  I am looking forward to a motel room night tomorrow night.  Need some ME time!

Oh wow, Etta.  That is cool.  Maggie Valley is one of the towns in our county.  It's like local, and everything.  I hope he enjoys it.  If you talk to him before he heads out, I highly recommend "Wheels Through Time" Museum and JArthurs to eat (pricey, but the best cheesesticks anywhere).

And now, it's time for bed.

Pat

I got this from Judy McKenna tonight in an email:

I wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat  our cell phones.

What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?

What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?

What if we flipped  through it several times a day?

What if we used it to receive messages from  the text?

What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?

What if  we gave it to kids as gifts?

What if we used it as we traveled?

What if we  used it in case of an emergency?

What if we upgraded it to get the latest  version?

It's just something to think about.

Something to make you  say hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, and where is my Bible?

I'm just here for the briefest of moments. Heavy deadlines at work - no time to read and respond. And, on top of everything else, we have to MOVE offices next Wednesday. I have asthma, and already had to use my rescue inhaler today just from people getting packed up to move. Bummer.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I am back writing on my desktop.  It was really an up and down day.  About mid afternoon I thought I would have to buy a new computer.  However, my friend (and he is a wonderful friend) helped me (he actually did the work) and we found that my hard drive had crashed.  Guess that is why it was so slow the day before and hasn't been working well the last few days.  I had a new 200 Gig harddrive that I had just stored somethings on and a cloned disk from my C drive that we did back in April.  From that smaller drive we were able to clone onto the new big dirve and today I will be getting everything back as I want it.  Don't have to reinstall very many programs, except my TV card and a few others that I had added since April that I want to use like IE 7.  So I am a happy camper this morning and am going to buy my friends breakfast at the cafe shortly.

Ruth Ann, sorry to see that you are under so much stress.  You sure don't need that.  Isn't it amazing that nothing can be left as is and there is constant turmoil.

Pat, I liked the piece you added that you got from Judy.  Hope you had a good tour of community facilities and got some good ideas.

Etta Sue, that is quite a purse.  Hope your trip goes well today.  Thanks for the devotional today.

Ritz, very nice photo.

JudyB, I am sure your MIL enjoyed the day out with you.  Hope your get your tractor fixed and that he is able to show you what to do.  It was nice of you and John to help Pat out with the plumbing problem.

Karmat, it sounds like you need to get your school to buy you a new keyboard.  They really are very inexpensive unless you get a lot of super features.

It was good to hear the report on Sonja and her family.  Glad she is being able ot pursue her photographing interests.

Carol, I sure agree with you concerning the joy and blessing of having good friends.  It seems that in the past ten years my wife and I have been blessed with several very good friends.  Glad your foot is healing.  I can't even imagine the pain associated with losing both parents on the same day.

Marilyn, it sounds like you also are a candidate for a new keyboard.  Hope your sunflowers come up.

Hi Christina and welcome to CP.

Jane, glad you are recovering and you will appreciate having some wood split when you need it.

A belated Happy Birthday Jeanne.

Time to go to the cafe.  Hope everyone has a good day.

Pat:  Interesting about the bible - it could be treated llike a cell phone.  I would hope that I could treat it better because I forget to charge our cell phone, & actually forget about it entirely.  It is only there for emergencies.

Judy:  If I can learn to quilt, anyone can.  I only started this not too many years ago just to have a hobby when Don retired & he started the hobby of making small wood things - like pens now.  So, we both go to our rooms in the basement & have something to do besides just sitting and watching t.v.   And, we give almost everything away.  Would like to help you though - wouldn't that be fun?

Etta Sue:  What a darling purse.  You are so talented.

Marilyn:  Miss Rhodies like mad.  They can't be grown here.

Ritz:  What a lovely, cool spot!  Nice picture & it looks like you are enjoying the new home.

Nita:  Hello, I meant to write something to you in SN & forgot - it couldn't have been important - but I just wanted you to know that I did think of you.

It is so hot here - Don wants to go back to the mountains so I am getting things ready & perhaps can do this quick enough to get up there this afternoon - if not, tomorrow is fine.

Carol

Janet:  Tisie (Shirley) was interested in finding you & she was going to send you an email.  If you need her email address, just send me a note & I will pass it on.

Good Morning one and all, I am taking my time around here this morning. Fay called to say her great niece was taking her to breakfast this morning and she will call me when she gets back home. My other client has an appointment just after 12N so I can't let Fay keep me past that time. I may just tell her to wait until later sh needs to sign my time sheet today. Excuse my rambling here OK?

So far I have cleaned the kitchen and bath, fixed up Savannah's birthday present and addressed a father's day card for my son, read my email and answered some that is just a few o the things I have already done. It doesn't take long at all.

Hi Carole why can't you have Rhodie's there is it too cold in winter to keep them alive?

Carol I would love you to teach me!  I have heard it was easy, but when I worked at the faberic store I saw people putting a lot of money into quilting.  That is something I cannot do at this point.  Perhaps in a couple of years when all the girls are into high school.

Larry I am happy your computer problem worked out.

Marilyn you have made me tired just reading what all you have done!  I have a lot to do so I am off here to get done what I can.

Please be praying for the situation up here in the north.  There are a lot of people hurting.

Bye for now
Judy

A nice little read that I just received in an email...

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole, which she carried across her neck.  One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water. At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.

For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water.

Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do. After 2 years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house."

The old woman smiled, "Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side?" "That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them."

"For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house."

Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding.

You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.

SO, to all of my crackpot friends, have a great day and remember to smell the flowers on your side of the path!

Hi everyone.  I'm up at Olympia, Washington at our son's house using his little computer.  We attended the baccalaureate, which was great. Tonight is the actual graduation.  Out granddaughtere had a 3.96 average all the way through, and many honors in singing, playing bass, etc., etc.  We're thankful indeed!

Tomorrow we leave early in the morning to go home.  CU all when we get there.

Ritz

Thanks Y'all for commenting on the shot, It's not super close...but the river is less than 20 miles from here. I'm just off I-565. This one is the view from the other side:
