Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Expect Results

"Ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss."
(James 4:2-3)

Are all your needs met today? If not, why not?

According to the Word of God, it's either because you're not praying about them at all or because when you do pray, you're praying wrong.

What does it mean to pray wrong? In many cases it simply means to pray without expecting results. Many believers do that, you know. They use prayer as a kind of spiritual wishbone. They just play around with it. "This probably won't do much good," they think, "but who knows? It won't hurt to give it a try."

If that's been your attitude, then change it! Start getting serious about prayer. Stop praying just because it's proper. Stop praying just because you always pray at this point in the church service. And start praying to get results.

Start praying in the Name of Jesus, according to the Word of God, and expecting to receive what you ask for every single time. Isn't that a little presumptuous? No, but it is bold, and you have a scriptural right to be bold.

According to the Word of God, you have a standing invitation from your heavenly Father to "come boldly unto the throne of grace, that [you] may obtain" (Heb. 4:16). That word obtain is a word of certainty. The dictionary says it means "to get possession of."

So pray, expecting to get possession of what you need, not just once in a while, but every time! When prayers do go unanswered, don't just wander away saying, "I guess you never know what God's going to do." Tackle the problem with both hands! Go to God in prayer and in the Word and find out where you missed it and get the problem corrected.

When you go to God in accurate, Word of God based, Spirit inspired prayer, you do know what He's going to do. He's going to answer you. He's going to meet your need exactly as you asked Him. Start expecting Him to do it today.

Janet,

Thank you for your encouragement for us to pray, expecting God to respond.

I read this from Psalm 86.  The last two verses are especially comforting!

Bend an ear, God; answer me.
      I'm one miserable wretch!
Keep me safe—haven't I lived a good life?
Help your servant—I'm depending on you!
You're my God; have mercy on me.
I count on you from morning to night.
   Give your servant a happy life;
I put myself in your hands!
You're well-known as good and forgiving,
bighearted to all who ask for help.
   Pay attention, God, to my prayer;
bend down and listen to my cry for help.
Every time I'm in trouble I call on you,
      confident that you'll answer.

Good Morning everyone.  I will get here before it gets hot and I get busy.  I expect to be gone most of the  morning.

Last evening we attended a 90th Birthday celebration for our good friend, Adele.  She and her husband are the ones we often take out with us to eat on Sunday and then take home.  She is a lady full of life and the love of life.  She is very spry and mentally very alert and astute.  We went to a restruarant at 5 pm and almost had the place to ourselves.  The attendees were 8 of the group we go out with each Sunday and are basically in our Sunday School class.  They had a 2 for 1 special on baby back ribs and Pat and I decided that sounded very good.  There were delicious.

Alma, I will be praying for the little baby and pray that they can find the cause of the seizures.  This is so frightening for all concerned.

Janet, thanks for the devotional message.  It is certainly wise because it is based on the Bible and that is where we should be seeking wisdom and knowledge.

Marilyn, hope you really enjoyed your day off yesterday.  I am sure it will be nice to have some time for yourself.  Glad you got your door fixed.

Janet, I sometimes feel sorry for the clerks who have to face the customers when they are not allowed to provide good customer service.  I try to keep that in mind when hassled.  The guess the results Beth got yesterday were good in that there wasn't a new problem to deal with although it didn't provide the answers being sought.

Pat, sure hope the "Problem" has been resolved successfully.  You sure don't need something else to worry about.

Candice, sorry about the problem with your grandfather.  I know it makes a difficult situation for you.

Hope everyone has a good day and is able to stay relatively cool.

Alma

 <3  Dear all,

Our latest news update, Praise God and Thank you Jesus, Little Randy is home they got home this morning at 3:30 am Calif time,

Poor little  guy had taken a fever in his sleep and when he woke up he was in a seziure, at  the hospital they ran all the normal test , brought down the fever and X-rayed him, did blood work ups to test his tegretol levels and sent him home after the danger had passed.

He will be seeing his own DR. today, for more test, but they are hoping it was just a cause from the fever. I know babies do that so, this is good news :  but still a sick baby.

I  want to Thank you all here;  for all the love you always have given to not only me but each other, its hard at 11:30 pm to know who to call and ask to pray with you, but all of your here are Angels from God and you ARE always doing the Lords work.

God bless all of you, May God overflow you cups with all your needs and desires,

Alma

Alma, fevers are scary, especially with the smallest ones.  I'm glad things are looking better this morning.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day, and it does not get too hot for you.  I was reading a news article yesterday, and apparently the mountains of Western North Carolina are about the only place in the country not suffering from an intensely uncomfortable heatwave.  It is still 85 or 90 here, but not that bad compared to some of ya'll.  Guess you just need to come and visit us. :)

Good morning my dear friends.  Enjoy the blessings God grants you this day, for they are many.

Alma, it is good to hear that little Randy appears to be well again.  It is even better to hear that you found comfort from others here.   In my brief stay here, I have found great comfort here as well.  God has placed some kindred souls here and made this ministry available.

Janet, thank you for the devotional this morning.  I think we all need to talk with God more often.  Not only to talk, but to listen to Him.
Walking by faith means you see God's hand even in the most difficult of circumstances.

Thank God for our area!  It's not hot at all.  I don't know what the temp is right now, but it can't be even 70, and it's probably below 60.  It'll warm up - could even get up to 75!  Sorry folks!  It's beautiful here.

Marilyn

Al It is 54° right now at the airport according to the Yahoo Widget on my screen.

Great devotional Janet. I accept any call to prayer. Prayer is what I love most to do. I prefer to pray specifically  asking according to the word of God and with faith. Faith can move mountains. Oh that I might have the faith of Abraham.

Today I  take Ruth to the Arcata Senior Center for lunch. she goes across to Health Sport first to spend some time in the Hot Tub and get her Blood Pressure taken. I will do her  Blood Sugar poke for her.

Larry I sure did enjoy having a day of not having to  be anyplace  but could go where I wanted when  wanted. No obligations. This afternoon when I come home I will take the dogs out for their walks then I may or may not mow the front yard.

I need to stop at the hardware store and get another garbage can, to store my dog food. I want one  with wheels so when I take it out of the car trunk I can  just put it in to the bin  and wheel it to the back yard, then when I Clean out the back porch I can  store it there instead of outside. Well I guess I could put it in the shed.

Karma ~ You are right about the heat in WNC.  My niece just got back from Montreat at a church camp.  She said that the temps were very pleasant all last week and even wore sweatshirts in the evenings.

Remember T-Bear?  She is coming here next Tuesday.  Her daughter, her friend and her friend's mother has tickets for a Kelly Clarkson concert a few miles from me.  You can check out the venue here.  So Karen is spending the evening with me.  My deck was yucky...mildew, mold, stains from leaves.  It is white resin so I got my bucket out, scrub brush on a broom handle, bleach and the water hose.  I waited until 8 p.m....cooler...but I have a beautiful white again deck.  Now I need to do the lattice on the sides.

Kitty, her SIL and I are going to a private owned zoo tomorrow for picture taking.  You can check it out here. I have heard of this zoo for a long time but have never been there.  We are taking a picnic lunch...sounds like fun.

Then Nancy called this morning and we are heading to Grand Rapids Thursday morning.....early.  Have to leave here by 5:45 am.

Today is Euchere and then we are having a cookout after Euchere.  It is a fun bunch of ladies so it will be fun.

And sometime between now and Thursday morning, I have to do laundry and mow the lawn.   :-\

Now it is almost time for lunch!!  Where has the time went?

Janet

Today is Darrel and my 25th wedding anniversary!  It has been, without a doubt, the best 25 years of my life!  And he said the same thing this morning.  :)  We are celebrating with the trip to China, not a bad party, huh?  I think I will cook a nice meal and we will eat by candle light tonight.  ;)

Alma, so glad the baby is okay.  It is good to be able to bring our concerns here and know other Christians will pray for our requests.  I know it has been very dear to my heart.

We ran some errands this morning:  took Beth's clean clothes back to her, voted absentee ballots for our primary, did some banking, and got some financial matters done we wanted settled before we leave.  While I do not have a fear about it, it is good to know the kids won't have a mess to deal with should something happen to us.  One of our daughters has a very good head on her shoulders and handles things fairly and without any animosity, so it's good to have one like that to trust to take care of things in the event something should happen to us.

How are you doing, Pat?  <3

Larry, I'm happy you can stay in out of the heat.  Maybe you need to go visit Al out there in cool California!  ;)

Now, Al, stop bragging---or you might have more company than you can handle!!  Oh, well, we could camp out on the beach, if we brought enough blankets!  ;)

Marilyn, we always look for wheels on any luggage, garbage cans, etc that we buy!  Better to save our backs, right?

Etta Sue, you have a busy schedule planned.  I hope most of it is out of the heat, too.  You do know how to enjoy life.  Good for you!

Ohenry, so good to read your posts.  You're such a welcome addition to our group.

Hey Karma!!  How are you doing??  I would love to see your area of the US...maybe another year.  There are still a number of states we haven't visited as yet.  Always new worlds to see!  ::)

I need to do some stuff.  Today is the day to enter things in the fair, but I am not entering anything this year.  Just not in the mood, I guess.

happy anniversary Janet!  :)

today seems like a busy day for everyone.  and man i can not wait until the temperatures drop. today i went to the church for a staff meeting dealio and then we ate lunch and cleaned the rec center.  we also told doug the guy who runs the rec center that we're going to quit haha. he was cool about it though, and i will still work my office hours as will my mom, so it was all good. and plus we already have a lady who said she would start cleaning as soon as things are finalized. it will be nice after 2 years of cleaning that place to not have to clean excerise machines and toilets every other day of my life.

in other news, things with my dad's dad are okay. i mean i'm sure they could be worse, and i thank God that they aren't. but, this household will be a lot more stress-free when he's gone.

well, even in my downstairs, it is no longer cool. i might take a swim, or i might just take a nap.  tomorrow it is supposed to drop a few degrees, and i pray i'll notice the difference. northeast PA, is not supposed to be 100 degrees in the summer.

hope everyone is enjoying their day, even if it's busy.  make sure you take time to relax in the night!

love always.

Thanks for that devotional, Janet.  I certainly agree that we ought not to come to God in a "wishy-washy" attitude, and that we ought to be definite and bold (and thankful for Jesus Who makes it continuously possible) when we pray.  To pray otherwise is hypocrisy.  It's not really even prayer at all, because prayer is a real relationship to a real God, a relationship that involves asking and receiving.

That said, though, I have a question about why they're leaving out the last bit of the verse.  The quoted part was:

QuoteAccording to the Word of God, you have a standing invitation from your heavenly Father to "come boldly unto the throne of grace, that [you] may obtain" (Heb. 4:16).

The rest of the verse is, "that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need."  This part of the verse tells us pretty plainly why the prayer should be made.  It's that we might obtain mercy, and it's in order to "find (needed) grace in needy situations.  That seems vital to me.  Oftentimes our prayers are a response to our own sin - in the face of which God has been mercifully gracious, even though we didn't deserve it.  And the "time of need" is often the need for more grace - grace to overcome sinful tendencies on our part.  If we name the tendency, and if we ask in a practical, expectant way for help, then the promise is that we'll receive it. What a blessed promise!  What a needed exhortaion!

By the way - CONGRATULATIONS!

Marilyn

Thanks, Candice, Al and Marilyn.  Appreciate the good wishes.

Is it still today?  This has seemed like a very long day, for some reason.  I spent quite a bit of time on the telephone for my business, otherwise, just doing stuff toward celebrating tonight.  We just finished a candle light supper, and are relaxing.  Nice!

Here it is 10 to 10 and I've just finished reading the posts.  I have two grandchildren here till Thursday so my time is not my own.  We've had some good fun though and now I'm supposed to be in the next room watching a movie with them so I sneaked in here to say "Hello" to all of you.

Not sure what we're doing tomorrow but something special for sure.

I had a phone call from Judy, my sister, today and last night's storm knocked out her power and they are not promised it back for about 4 days she was told so hopefully they won't lose stuff in their freezer, etc.

It's so refreshing to read all your posts.

Happy Anniversary, Janet and Darrel

Here's a question for you all who have photos in your albums in the gallery.

In your own albums when you are looking at a photo, do you see "Edit File Information" under the photo and if you click on it are you able to maybe change the title of the photo or add a description, etc?

Please let me know.

I'm going to get Clive to check this out for me.  (He's the one who is the Coppermine Specialist on their site and looks after the Photography Cafe website).

I'll ask him.  But it might be a few days.
