Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well pleasing to God.
Philippians 4:18

Paul, a prisoner in Rome for the cause of the gospel, had a visitor from
Philippi, bringing with him some "things" from the saints there to help
meet Paul's present need.

They were unsolicited. It was a gift of love to the Lord and also to His servant.

The people gave willingly and at cost to themselves.

Paul sends his appreciation and thanks, but at the same time raised their gift to a high elevation in the expression he uses. There are
still so many needs.

Raise a sweet incense to the Lord today with your generosity.
--Reg. L. Jordan

We lose what on ourselves we spend;
we have as treasures without end,
Whatever Lord, to Thee we lend,
who givest all.

Strange problem..........when I click on the address line in my notification, it will not take me to the post.  I had to highlight and copy it, then paste to my browser.  I hope that stops, it's a nuisance.

Liz, so glad to hear you felt better today!  We all need those days.  Cute story about your cats.  :)

I took Beth's dog to visit her today, she always looks forward to that, and so does the dog!

It was 107 here today, but they say we have a "cool front" coming in tomorrow, and it should only be around 90!  Hard to imagine 90 being a cool front, but that 17 degree drop will be SO welcome!!  We are roasting here.

Marilyn, I hope the little stinker goes looking for another home tonight---also the little gnawer!  Beth got a recipe from the vet for taking skunk smell off the dogs because they were getting sprayed so often, about three summers ago.  Maybe it was longer than that, anyway, when she was still working and driving......All I remember at this minute was it contained dishwashing liquid and vinegar.  It was mild and not messy like tomato juice.  But as for under a whole house, I don't know!  Lots of fresh air and some time, I would think.

Samantha, so sorry Terry is still having problems.  I sent you an email.

I'm getting cold here in front of the AC, guess I'd better head for bed.  See you all tomorrow!

Good Morning folks

This has been quite a week.  We lost our power on Monday at three and were without till about 4 this afternoon.  The wordt of it was that we had to haul water from the river to flush toilets.  It has been difficult to say the least.  We have been fortunate though, Callendar and Mattawa had big problems.  There was a state of emergency declaired for Callendar.  Mattawa is still not completely cleaned up.  North Bay received some downed hydro wires, and trees toppled.  That was pretty well cleaned up by tuesday night..

The girls and I were some happy when we saw the lights on, as we drove home this afternoon.  I had a post ready to send and the lights went out yet again.  Not for long though.  I haven't been able to contact friends in Redbridge, they are still hydro-less.

I haven't taken the time to read all the posts.  I am heading to bed, and will catch up in the morning.

Good night/morning everyone

Judy B

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I am getting here early today as got up at 5 am after awakening at 4.  My next door neighbor, who usually goes with me on Friday's to the Senior Center, isn't feeling well and is not going this morning.  So I will open the center and make the coffee today, not a big deal at all.

We had a lovely evening last evening visiting with one of the members of our Sunday School class.  His wife is out-o-town caring for her sister and this is the couple we traveled with a couple of years ago to a 50th wedding anniversary celebration and had such a good time.  Pat fixed a really delicious meal and we enjoyed visiting.  He is 75 and wanted to get home before dark so didn't stay late.

Today Pat has an appointment at 11 am with a audiologist to check the status of her hearing.  I don't think she is ready for hearing aids but definitely has a hearing loss.  She was always so sensitive to the TV being a little loud or music too loud and now when I turn on the TV after she has been watching it I am about blasted out of my chair.  We have an hours drive each way so that will occupy a good part of the day.

JudyB, glad to see you back and know that you once again have power.  A few years ago we were without power for 3 days during the winter due to an ice storm and have had briefer period of outages since and they are certainly no fun, especially at night when it is so dark.  I guess this makes us appreciate the benefits of electricity.

Janet, guess I should quit complaining about the heat here as you have us beat.  I think the highest we have had so far is 97 with probably 80% humidity.  The air was very bad here yesterday and will probably be so again today.  Fortunately I do not have to be outside for any extended period of time.

Pat, so sorry that you are continuing to have problems.  Those dizzy spells are sure no fun.  Glad it is cooler up there and that you have had some rain.

Marilyn, that sounds like a lot of unpleasant moments around your house.  Hope the odor is gone before long.

Liz, good to read that you are feeling better.  Cats really have a mind of their own don't they?  They do what they want to do but it sounds like your two cats actually care for each other even if they can't stand to be together.  Probably a llitte jeolosy there.

Candice, sure you will be happy to have that cleaning job over.  Most adults don't enjoy that type of work, much less teens, but you are to be commended in your willingness to help your mother with the job.  It sounds like you are a very busy person.

A special hi to those I haven't addressed by name today and those who come by later.

Marilyn

I have posted some  photos for you to see in the photos section and in my gallery. I am going to clean out my pack porch today and put some things in the shed and get some others ready to go to the thrift store.

Got to get busy now.

:-\ ???  How does the timing thing get changed all by itself?  I had to go login again this time.  Strange gremlins puttering about on my computer!  ???   And the links still do not work.  :(

Kristi has put me on High Intensity Training, and boy!  It's tough!  I have to do heavier routines (heavier weights) until I fail.  Then she helps me do them three more time.  This is supposed to build strength quickly.  Today I had to hold a 40# weight on one shoulder and do one-legged calf raises.  Didn't take too many reps to fail at that one!  ^-^  Of course, there were several other routines too.

This afternoon is the dog show I need to take Beth and Mieka to, and this evening I will be helping Wonem of Faith serve stuff at the rodeo, so there is always something to do!  But right now I must get ready to go to the doctor.  I'm going to ask him to change my blood pressure med, as I'm retaining so much water it's causing problems with ankle pain.

I wish you all a very happy day!

Pat I have been trying to post the photo that I attached in the Photos  Here folder of the close up of the bloom on the Hen and Chicks, but  for some reason it fails to  go into my album every time I try. The other two went in fine. I rezied it and  cut the KBS down to 75,000 and it still won't post.

When I clicked "Next" I was taken back to the 20th.  I tried it twice and it did the same.  dejavu

Pat:  Sorry to read that you have been dizzy at times.  I read this through Larry's post.  My cousin used to have those problems until she began a little series of exercises before rising in the morning.  If you want, I can write to her - I originally found that solution in a newspaper article.

Janet:  You raised a calf with your leg!  Awesome!   ;D

Judy:  I hope that everyone gets their power back in your area.  Bummer - it can't be easy getting water from the creek.

QuoteLike most Christians, I am so sad about all the conflict in our world.  We need to pray real hard folks.
Liz:  You are so right!

Candice:  I pray that your auntie does well!  Hang in there!

We have had internet problems twice lately and it is the faul of the server.

Just to let everybody know - Marbeth had her surgery this morning.  Everything went quite well, and she is in ICU for a few hours so they can monitor vital signs, then regular room, then home.  Thank You, Father!

Ruth

Al:   Thanks for the Good news about Marbeth and Thank you Lord.

Marilyn:  Perhaps a high powered water gun would work. ha ha ha  it just might add to the stinkers problem

Judy B: It is good to hear that you have your hydro back. If we were to be without power for that many days we could be in big trouble as we have a sump pump and if that fails we would have problems.

Pat: I pray that what ever it is will go away soon.

Candice:  Although you are not fond of the summer job, many years down the road you will have memories. I have good and bad memories from my teen years doing that kind of work in the summer.

Larry: Thanks for your reply.

Today Mel & Myself spent a good part of the day removing an old air cond. from a window in my Aunts home then installing a new bigger and portable one. It is portable but there is a limit as to how far it can travel. She is pleased that the job is done and now she is getting cool.  I must say that Mel did all of the work as I am not allowed to
do a lot of heavy lifting.

I am on my way to the gallery to have a peek.

I see that my photos haven veiwed 10 times but no one has commented on them HERE, kind of disappointing.

This afternoon I have made a few jars of Strawberry jam and just generally relaxed. Now I have an ice pack laying across the top of my shoulder andthe base of my neck. I need another adjustment.

Hello folks...

Still feeling sort of under the weather but the fellow helping with my deck came today in the heat and aI tried to keep him supplied with ice water and pop in between lying down in the basement.

I'll be ok though.

Sorry a few of you are having difficulties with the forums.  I haven't had the problems so I can't see what's happening.

I am back!  I have read all the post.   I have prayed for you all.  I have praised God for you all.  And laughed at you all's posts.  All of the above at appropriate times...I think  :-\

I am tired.  We stopped at the Amish restaurant and Nancy bought two Black Raspberry Pies...my they were expensive...$27.50!!!  Two pies!  Then almost home we stopped at a road side vegetable stand and I bought fresh sweet corn and home grown tomatoes!  I had a tomatoe for supper.  Nothing hot house about that tomato!

Now it is time for bed.

Tomorrow is Ivalou's birthday.  Kaye Don, Barb, Ivalou and I are going to Ohio to watch Ivalou's grandson pitch in a baseball game....we hope he pitches tomorrow.  I think we will eat breakfast together for Ivalou's birthday.  But she has to be back home fairly early because her BIL and his wife are taking her out for supper.

Busy , busy, busy!

Ah, sigh. Another long day, marked off the calender.  But, atleast it was cooler, minus all the 100% humidity, ha.

Ruth, I wish I could say it was a summer job, but no, I've worked at the Rec Center for 2 years. Very few of those days I liked cleaning, but I do remember some of those days where everyone smiled at me while I cleaned. But giving it up isn't a heartbreaker, especially since I still have my office hours, and they said they're going to be giving me more, blech.

Larry Hanna, I am busy, if I told you a schedule of my day you'd probably think I'd be joking.  but then on other days I just sit home and do schoolwork the entire day. [not that, that's not busy, that's just being places and being busy.] but it's been like this since I was little, I'm an only child and when I said I wanted to play soccer, softball and basketball I meant it. Along with church everytime the doors were open, and school activities.  Now, there's no sports, no school activities, but I joke around and say I live at the church campus. Since the Rec Center is at the church campus I'm either there, or at the blue house, where Crosswalk the kids ministry's office is, or The Garage, where the youth group is at - and of course, the church haha.

An update on my aunt, isn't much different. She's gone through some tests which have came back and seems like nothing has shown up. They might send her home tomorrow, even though has soon as she sits up she gets sick from her blood pressure flunctuating. It's crazy whatever she has, and she just wants to be better. When this goes away, she will probably go down to another hospital in Philadelphia for a second opinion. Continue to keep her in your prayers.

For now, I'm going to bed, work at 7am comes real early, especially when the church picnic is afterwards along with seeing my wonderful aunt, goodnight.

with love,
candice

Janet

Like some of you, I've had another busy day, and now it is less than one week to departure!  ^-^

Mieka wouldn't cooperate at all for the dog show, but got three red ribbons:  best smile, waggiest tail and curliest tail.  She kept her tail tucked tightly underneath her the whole time, I think they just felt sorry for Beth and gave her the ribbons.  Plus, there were so few entries.  Then I took Beth to Sonic to get her a strawberry limeade and a cherry one for her friend.

I worked a three hour shift in the concession stand at the rodeo, then watched the rodeo for an hour.  It was fun except for the dirt blowing on us.  At least it is MUCH cooler here today!  I'm so thankful for that!

It was another good business day for me, too, and I now have two more new customers!  Go, God!  He is so good, and allows me to bless others.

I'm tired, and it is that time, so goodnight!  Sweet dreams!

good morning  :)

i truly do have my coffee at my left hand, since it's nearly 8:30 and i'm at work, but i thought i'd drop a note considering there's not much else to do here.  coffee is my treat for Saturday's people ask me if i like coffee and i say yes, but only on Saturdays and it's the truth. i won't drink it otherwise. i've just gotten in this habit of going to work so early every Saturday i just stop get my coffee and a free donut and off i go...to a rec center where people try and lose the weight they've gained from the coffee and free donut, oh well.

Janet, oh how i wish i could have gone to the Sonic.  We don't have those where i live in PA, so when i went to colorado last year we stopped at one and it was a super cool experience. [you're probably thinking, a Sonic, whattt?] yes, and we don't have those Chic-a-fila things either, which i hear are soo good. yes, livng in the north in the middle of no where does have some disadvantages.

well i hope everyone enjoys there day, today's our church picnic. during our church picnic we also baptize a lot of people including one of my friends so my mom said she would close up so i wouldn't miss that part of the picnic which is nice. then it's eating a lot of food and playing some innings of softball and rounds? of volleyball until i go see my aunt connie.  - by the way, my mom called her and she said she woke up a little weaker this morning.  they talked about bringing her home but now she's not so sure she wants to go home, ayeee doctors.

anyways, have fun today, it's a saturday.
with love,
candice

Just hope everyone's day is better than this cat's day!   <3

I am all ready to walk out the door and over to my sister's.  Then we will be headed to Ohio to watch a baseball game.  Sounds like fun since I don't go to sports things often.

It was great to sleep in my own bed last night and it is cooler in Indiana...another plus.

God Bless You All

:DCandice, I live less than 1/4 mile from a Sonic.  And even this early in the day a chilli cheese dog sounds mighty tempting!  we've had to cut down on our visits there (gaining to many extra pounds!)

Terry's regular physician called yesterday afternoon with his opinion on his body scan -  still do a heart cath.  So we are going to see what next week brings :(

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Samantha ... the heart cath procedure is not a big deal, at all.  I had it done last year and it was such that I could watch the monitors as they looked into the heart valves and arteries.  It was over in no time.  I didn't have to have stints put in, but had they been necessary it would have been done at that time.

Terry cant get past the 4 in 1000 people die each year from heart cath procedures.  That and if its just a waste of our time and money.  He had a really bad evening last night.  I don't know what to do anymore.  And the dr.s just seem like its no big deal.  Well it is to him.  One sure doesn't get their money's worth when it comes to health care.
I'm done ranting and raving. ;)

Thanks for your imput ohenry, I will pass that info on to him.

Nita

Good morning all.

I've just posted a picture of a spider and bee that I saw on a flower yesterday.  Would you take a look and see if anyone can tell me what kind of spider that is?  I've never seen a white spider before.

Another lovely day here on the Oregon coast. Temps are supposed to lower inland too.

I have a group (3 I think)of guys coming to my house today to do some lawn edging, haul some things to the dump, and maybe cut two trees............headed by my very helpful son in law.  What a blessing.

The Lord is near!!  :)

Nita

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is a much cooler day here and last night we had over 3 inches of rain, apparently a lot of it in a 30 minute time period.  However, it continued to rain on and off all night.  We had gone about 15 miles north of here and they hadn't had any rain, at least when we were there.  When we got back our power was out and didn't come back on for 2 1/2 hours.  We are suppose to have rain over the next few days and it is certainly welcome, as well as the cooler weather.

Nita, I am sure you appreciate greatly the good son-in-law you have to look after some of the things you are not able to do for yourself.  My son has been doing a lot of those little chores for me but he will be moving about 2 1/2 hours away so won't be seeing as much of him as in the past.  However, he will still be over here occasionally.

Samantha, I know medical events are different for each of us but I have been in the cath lab about 30 times for caths and stents and I am still here.    I hope the heart tests are negative but know you all are very frustrated at not isolating the cause of the problems your husband is experiencing.  These are very expensive procedures as are stents if they are needed.

Ohenry, years ago when I had a cath I would be able to see the monitors but in recent years the doctors are using an amnesia drug called Versaid (sp) and you don't remember any of the discomfort or much of the experience. That is fine with me.  I remember telling my wife after the first procedure I had done where they used that drug that I didn't think they had done anything.  However, they showed me the films and I am sure they did.

Etta Sue, that cat sort of represents the week we have had here.  However, it is always brighter the next day.  Glad you had a good trip.  Don't know whether I could enjoy a pie that cost $13.50.  At the cafe where I go you can get a cake, made by the lady who bakes the cakes for the cafe, for only $20.  Hope the weather cooperates for the baseball game.

Candice, we have Sonics close to us and also Chick-fil-A restruarants.  The man who started Chick-fil-A has never allowed his facilities to be open on Sunday.  He is a strong Christian man who has helped many of his employees get their won franchises of his store.

Pat, good idea to carry the discussion over for two days.  I would suggest adopting this as a normal procedure for the weekends, when our visitors are fewer.

Marilyn, I am one of the folks who don't visit the Gallery very often.  I always seem to have other priorities.  Occasionally I will find the time to views the postings there and always enjoy the photos.  I am sure I speak for everyone when I say we do appreciate those of you who post photos as well as comments.  Please don't be discouraged.  I don't think the lack of comments mean that we aren't enjoying and appreciating them but that either we are busy or are not really photographers and thus can only say we like it or don't (and I can't remember any I didn't enjoy).

Ruth, it sounds like that was quite a project to install the new A/C.

Al, so happy to read your posting and know that Marbeth came through her procedure without problems.  I know you are greatly relieved.

Hi Carol.  Those internet problems are sure annoying.  I have been enjoying  good service for quite awhile.

Janet, it sounds like you have a slave driver for your exercise coach.  Nice that Beth's dog won ribbons.

I feel a nap coming on as only slept about 3 hours last night and am feeling it now.

Ruth

Good Afternoon:

Pat:  Are you feeling better today?  Also I think it is an OK idea to double your days.

Marilyn:  I did visit your gallery and replied.

Janet:  It was lovely that Beth & Mieka got some ribbons. Only 1 week before you leave on vacation WOW I am getting excited for you but also pray that it will be safe as well.

Larry: You will miss your son after he moves, you will be able to chat with him each day by phone, your to do list will be much bigger when he comes to visit.

My Aunts A/C is doing a fine job and she says that she is like a little one with a new toy.     I have been doing little tidy up jobs today resulting in the garbage bag getting full. Now my next little job is sewing strips of fabic together so that they form a long rope it will make my next project go better. When it is complete I will post a picture for all to see.  I will be making little scouring pads.

Ruth

Janet

Ouch, my feet hurt!  I worked in the concession stand at the rodeo from 8 till 1 today.  I was only scheduled until 10 but we were short-handed, so I stayed and helped out longer.  Standing on concrete is hard on the feet.  I can walk all day long, but standing is much harder.  We were really busy, though.  Those cowboys really enjoy eating!  (Don't we all?  ;) )

Larry, Kristi, our exercise gal, does believe in pushing us, but she is wonderful, kind, and very good natured.  And she does most of the exercises right along with us; which means she does them many times in a day.  You can't find any fat on that gal!  :)  Glad you got rain and cooler temps, what a blessing.

Samantha, I will pray that Terry's fears will turn into peace.  And I apologize for the double emails the other night.  I have been having computer problems and did not think the first one went out.  :-[

Thanks, Ruth.  I do think we will be safe.  But I would not want to go to the Middle East right now!! :o  Are you using net to make you "scrubbies?"  I use those all the time, but have to buy mine, as crocheting isn't one of the things I do.  I only have ever crocheted a chain!

Nita, I'm so happy to hear you are being blessed with yard help today!  God is so good!  8)

CAndice, I thought I was the one who lived in the middle of nowhere!!  But we do have Sonics around.  Our Dairy Queens have nearly all closed, though.  (I mean in the area, we never have more than one of anything in our small town!)  I have eaten in the Chick-fil-A in Amarillo and enjoyed it, and was happy, too, to learn the owner is a strong Christian.  I really respect that.  Enjoy your picnic!

Hi, Etta Sue!  Enjoy that ballgame! ::)

Pat, how are you feeling today?  Any relief from the heat up your way?

I am going to take off my shoes and elevate my feet for a while!

Time for a grin........

AT A SUPERMARKET, I overheard two women talking in the next aisle. "Horace and I have been together ten years now and he makes me very happy," one said. "So I don't mind buying him what he likes even if it is more expensive."
"Well, with my Benny I have no choice. He's just plain fussy," her friend replied.
I turned into their aisle. Both women were loading their shopping carts with high-quality cat food.

I am back from Ohio.  Great game.  Erik's team won so they play tomorrow at 5 p.m.  Erik didn't pitch today.  He pitches tomorrow.  So guess who is going back to Ohio to watch Erik pitch....the first two guesses don't count!

Ruth thank you for visiting my gallery but the best shot of that plant in right here in the photos here thread, I couldn't get that one to load into the gallery. It took several tries to get the shot just right I think I probable deleted about 6 or 7 before I got the keepers.

I make those little scrubby things, I gave a bunch away for Christmas. Jan didn't like hers she said it didn't look like it would be sanitary enough with all those holes. She had someone use it to scrub the outside of her trailer. They sure work great for shining the pots and pans, I use a little of Barkeepers friend on the scrubby and it sure shines the pans and the copper bottoms.

I am sure enjoying my time off. I even stayed in bed until 6:45 this morning. I had a couple of errands to do and then took the dogs for their walkabouts.

Carl I don't miss the heat at all. I  moved her o the coast fromthe Mojave desert 3 years ago. It wa 120° in the shade the day before I left July 12, 2003.
