Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

never a building but always a believing assembly.

Morning Devotional...

Four and twenty elders.and on their heads crowns. The elders.cast their crowns before the throne. I saw heaven opened. and on his head were many crowns.
Revelation 4:4, 10; 19:11-12

One day believers will be crowned, rewarded for their works, but when they catch sight of Him, they will be so caught up with His worthiness, thatthey will cast their crowns at His feet.

When heaven opens He will appear with many crowns on His head.  He is worthy!

The point is not how many crowns for us, but rather, how many crowns for Him.
--Rex Trogdon

Must I go, and empty-handed?
Must I meet my Saviour so?
Not one soul with which to greet Him:
must I empty-handed go?

This is a nice way to start the day!  Being reminded that power and GLORY is given Him! How small and weak we are, able to do nothing save for our Lord.  We need to remember that it's His strength that enables us to continue to run the race.  I pray everyone has a wonderful day.  Lord bless,  Ray

A rare early morning for me as I head off to be a starter for a golf tournament, but I wanted to stop by for a bit of the Word to start my own tournament of life.  Thanks for providing a look at His Word, Pat.
Walking by faith means you see God's hand even in the most difficult of circumstances.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We have another busy day as having a meeting to attend this morning and then will have dinner tonight with friends and then we will play some games.  Fortunately that is never a late session.

We are suppose to have nice weather today.  It is still overcast this morning.

We were delighted to speak with our son last evening and they have gotten a contract on their home and land that they own.  It is being purchased by a developer and he wants to close within this month.  They will then complete their relocation to South Carolina.  The next big step will be actually getting the money in the bank.

Ohenry, hope you have a nice golf tournament.  It sounds like you are the keeper of the clock.

Ray, I liked your comments.

Pat, the devotional this morning fits with thoughts I have been having in terms of the concern for the massive plants I see many of the churches having to support.  Our church, while not huge, has a number of buildings.    I fear that sometimes much of our resources available to the church have to go for maintenance rather than perhaps more useful things.

Ruth Ann, hope you have a good business trip next week.  Please be careful.

Janet, hope you were able to leave your problems that were bothering you yesterday with God so that you feel relieved today.

Good to see everyone posting.

Etta Sue

Marilyn ~ I use that version of Corel PSP X.  It seems more geared to photography and I love it.  I can't see as to how it can be improved.  So with that said, if what you have is a 60 day version, that gives you time to save the money so it is yours.

Janet ~ My prayers go out for you.

Ed ~ Like your new photo.  Handsome man in your uniform.

rayg544 ~ Isn't it wonderful to have a God so wonderful?  One that is with us always and guides us even when we think we don't need guidance.

ohenry ~ Have fun at the golf tournament.  I am sure you will but maybe you need encouragement to have fun.

Larry ~ You seem to be busy but that is what keeps you going.  My church also has many buildings and a membership of 1500 at least.  But the church tithes 25% first to missionaries.  That is soothing to know.

Pat ~ Does it seem weird to register someone for school to you?  After all these years!  If it was me, I wouldn't have a clue what to do.  Haven't had anyone in school since '79!!

I loved today's Daily Bread Devotion.  Peaceful Anxieties.  "I have had anxiety because I need the visa and there is nothing I can do about it. But I have great peace because I know that, after all, there is nothing I can do about it!"  The person was in need of a visa that had been turned down once.  We have anxieties because we can't do anything about a situation but we could have peace knowing we can't do anything about a situation.  That's when you let God be God.

Hurricane Ernesto is heading to the midwest.  Lower temperatures.  Rains.  Overcast skies.  Just down right blah!!  And I didn't get my yard mowed yesterday and it is predicted rain the next 4 days.  It isn't raining right now so I am planning to start mowing as soon as I post this post!

Excuse the typos, please.  Gotta get the mower running.

Etta Sue

I am having a peaceful anxiety.  It is raining.  I have anxiety because it is raining and I can't mow.  But I have peace because it is raining and I can't mow.   ^-^

Janet

Thanks to all the posters for the good words here this morning.  As has been said, what a great way to start our days.

Yes, Larry, I feel much relieved today.  Sometimes we just have a day when we feel the oppression of the enemy more, and that's when I know I am on the right track.  If not, then the enemy wouldn't be working so hard trying to stop or discourage me.  I thank God for those times, because they also cause me to turn to my loving Father even more, and He always has the peace and comfort our hearts need.

Abby is so excited about her piano lessons!  Grandma is, too!  She called me to listen to her practice again last night.  :)  Thanks for your encouragement, Larry.  Abby tells me she plans to take piano for 8 years!  We will see as time goes by.  I would love it if she becomes a really good pianist.

I'm getting ready to go to Manhattan to a K-State football game with the kids tomorrow.  Darrel's class is having their 50th HS class reunion, and I really felt I needed to stay home and support him.  But he encouraged me to go, saying I need to see the grandsons.....so I'm going with his blessing.  Still hate to miss his reunion, though. :-\

I need to finish up some framing, and this afternoon I will go help set up and decorate the tables for Darrel's class reunion.

Oh, I forgot to tell you all that yesterday I became a kid again! ;)  Kristi called to tell me that the Seniors would be using the big water slide at the pool, and she wanted me to come join in the fun, so I did. And it was really fun, too!

When things seem bad, look to see if you're not facing the wrong direction. When you're looking at the sun, you see no shadows. When the outlook isn't good, try the uplook -- it's always good!

Etta Sue, I like that--peaceful anxiety.  It sounds like an oxymoron, but after your explanation, it works!

I'm going now to see if there are any more "glowing" photos!

It's me again, with a grin for you:

I WAS interviewing a jeweler for a story I was writing on giving new life to old jewelry, and I asked him to tell me about his most memorable client. "It was a divorced woman who had me make a pair of earrings from her inscribed wedding band," he recalled. "One earring read, 'with all' and the other, 'my love.' "When I asked why she had wanted it done that way, she answered, 'To remind me the next time anyone said that to me, to let it go in one ear and out the other.'"

How lovely to come here and read all the messages!  This is like the olden days of CP!

I have to mow my lawn too, Etta Sue.  We're supposed to be getting remnants all weekend of this Ernesto storm.  When it reaches Buffalo, it's to be met with some weather system from up here that is to make it a bit more powerful than Buffalo gets.

(I don't understand all the weather lingo)  :idiot:

Good Morning

I found out that the PSP10 download is a 30 day try out. I uninstalled it this morning.

I hope to have my day stay my day off and not get called to work. I am going to Tai Chi at 10 then when I come home I am going to mow.

Sorry Etta Sue than your mowing got called off but since you are no longer anxious about it  just stay in and pay on the computer or crochet or something you enjoy doing. I too read the Daily Bread.

I have done a load of laundry, washed my dishes, cleaned some stuff out of my closet with more of that to do later. Now I am going to shut down my computer and install my new keyboard. I ordered another 512 mgs of memory I will have 128 short of 1 Gig of mamory I have to take out a 128 card that I will give to Gilbert  as he also has  a Dell .

Hi Pat you posted while I was writing.  There is also a hurricane  going into Baja California I believe it is expected to head out into th Pacific and not come to California. I haven't heard anything about rain here.

We have had a busy day, and I am still not packed for tomorrow and Sunday.

If any of you are interested in our trip to China, I just finished typing up a "report" for my friend in Alaska who always wants to know what we have been doing.  So if you would like to read it, email me and I will send you a copy via email too.  (It is too long to put in here and I don't want to bore anyone, anyway.)

I am so thirsty I could spit cotton!  So I'd best go get me some water!

PAPA JOHN, WHERE ARE YOU???  I MISS YOU!!

And where is Jeebers?  And Anthony?  And so many others who used to post???

Come back, come back, wherever you are!!!!

Please??

Nita

I'm not Jeebers or Anthony, but I have been gone awhile.  :)

I'd love to have PSP10, but can't afford it so will be happy with PSP8.

We are having pretty warm weather today.  Etta Sue, I could mow, but thinking of it brings on anxiety and waiting till later makes me peaceful.  :)

Janet, isn't it something how a problem can just fold itself up and lay down when we just be still and breathe in God? His Presence changes everything.  So many times I've quited myself before Him,  meaning to bring him my problems, and before I can even do that, he touches me and everything I was concerned with fades into the background.  What a good Father He is to us. :)

JANET!!  You slided down a slide??  You are a big kid now. :)  Was it lots of fun?

I just had the nicest email.  My daughter, Kim, has a neighbor who lost her father this morning.  It was expected.  He had cancer.  I know Kim is kind and compassionate, but not sure what all she's doing. This lady wrote thanking me for Kim, "who is the most caring, best neighbor anyone could have".  Wasn't that nice?  Thanking me for Kim.  Bless her heart.

Gotta go and see what my boys are up to.  It' s mighty quiet in the other room.   Blessings, Nita

I  mowed early this afternoon and just finished watering. I still have the side to water tomorrow. I installed my new keyboard and it  sure is better now that  it is not skipping letters. It wasn't my spelling after all  I also did laundry and have been doing some hand quilting on my  quilt.

I took the dogs for walks and went to Ace Hardware to  buy bird seed that was on sale 3 25lb sacks for $10. that will probably last for close to 1 year. That is how I bought it last year.

As I was walking Bebe she jerked real hard to go after another dog behind a fence and I think I may need the Chiropractor, maybe, I have ice on right now.

Had salmon for supper. Well  have rambled on way too long here probably TMI

Hi Janet...  I'm sure it would be nice if you posted your China Report in our Photos Here area and included some of the photos that you have in your gallery as links?  I'll help you do that.  I'd love to see it.

I heard about that hurricane, Marilyn.  Wow.  Lots of them.  Our rain hasn't started yet but it's supposed to be really bad and heavy tomorrow.

Nice to see you Nita.  Please don't stay away long now?

As the Deer Panteth for the Water
(Click to hear music)

Written by Martin Nystrom

Psalm 42:1
"As the hart panteth after the water brooks,
so panteth my soul after thee, O God."

As the deer panteth for the water,
So my soul longs after you.
You alone are my hearts desire,
And I long to worship You.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

I want you more than gold or silver,
Only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy giver
And the apple of my eye.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

You're my friend and You're my brother,
Even though you are a King.
I love You more than any other
So much more than anything.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

Well I had a pleasant suprise today. I found out our pastor posted some photos I took from the men's campout, and a short story I sent him about it, on our church's men's ministry page.

Ah Pat you know how to make me feel so good. You know how much I love that song.

Smokey I will take a look at your link shortly, you posted while I was typing.

Janet I would like to read you  letter about your trip too. Maybe someday I will travel to another country outside of this hemisphere. I have been to British Columbia and Tijuana. I also would like to see more of the USA. I will have to marry a rich man I guess  Sure can't do it on my income. Got any prospects for me>  ;D

Hello all, I just got in from work we got busy due to a football game that was going on but got rained out... that was 4 hours ago and it is still raining here. someone at work said that at their farm in the last 2 weeks they have gotten 14.5 inches of rain.... much needed in this area however if you want the rain you have to deal with the weeds..... someone else said that we should cut them down spray paint the bottom of them brown and sale them as christmas trees. seeing some of the weeds i think this just may work  I have been so tired that i think that i am going to go take something for my knee and back and go to bed. talk to you later

candiceloves

well, tis been a long time everyone. to tell you the truth i haven't had the time to even be on the internet for awhile.after going to pittsburgh i had a little time and then i went from a christian music festival. the day after we got back we had a huge pig roast at our church and the day after that i went to florida for a week.  and that would lead me up to last monday, and this week has just been catching up things.

i hope everyone has been doing well, and no one was directly hit by this tropical storm ernesto coming up the coast. today's our day of rain and some intense wind so it will have my mind some interesting driving. as she drove us to work this morning there were already some trees down. have a great rest of your day, i'm sure mine will be fun.

with love,
candice.

Etta Sue

Oh, it is good to read your chatty posts!

So great to see Sarah posting again and being so busy in her young life.

Then there is Candace that must no be able to touch her feet to the ground, she is flying around so much.

And Janet with Abby and her daily busyness and now going to a football game with her family.

And Marilyn with a new keyboard...it did seem to prevent typos.  Take care of that shoulder.  (When you find that rich man, send his rich brother my way!)

Also Smokeythedog with his great shots of his Men's Retreat and devotion.  Loved reading that.

Also Pat...I love that song, too.  It restores my faith in God.

And Nita....Nita, Nita, Nita!  Try not to be away so long next time...Okay?

And anyone else that I missed or will be posting after me...May God Bless You All!

Ivalou and I went to Quiznos...similar to Subway but better IMO.  Then to WalMart to see if they had anything we couldn't live without.  Does anyone ever go to WalMart without buying something?  I did find some red/purple things for Red Hats Society!

Then we came home.  I stopped at the side of my house to take in items I purchased and thought  ::) Hmmm!  It hasn't rained since we left home.  I wonder......  So I went in, changed clothes, went back out to the garage and started up my mower.  I now have a smooth yard and a peaceful feeling that the mowing is done for another few days!

No much planned for this holiday weekend.  Ivalou's daughter, SIL and two kids are coming from Ohio so will visit with them some.  And read...that's it for me!!

Good morning everyone. I was here at 4:30 this morning. Couldn't sleep for some reason. I have had a few nights like that this week.

Etta Sue the quilt I am making is  Red and Purple with a lavender backing. It has some prints of all colors in between the red.

Ah yes this keyboard can spell correctly and doesn't skip letters it has a light touch too. It is more streamlined than my old one that came with my computer. Sometime next week I will have more memory oh boy I am going to have a fast computer. Look out Al.

Al has used my computer back when they were out of power to post his devotional and he though my computer was fast back then, Well Al you'll have to try it out  again. He also has dial-up and I have cable Internet.

Janet,  it is great that Abby is taking piano lessons. Gilbert has my grands so busy with after school activities but they have not expressed an interest in a musical instrument Well Forest wanted a guitar, Gilbert plays the guitar.

Good morning everyone,

Pat, your scripture goes with a book I finished a few weeks ago, "It's not about me" by Max Lucado.  The books purpose is to state: It's Not about Me, It's all about God !

Thanks for sharing with us, Pat.

Last night I set up late, fired up the smoker and cooked 2 chickens, a rack of baby back ribs and a beef brisket.  Yumm.... Yummm, now I don't have to do any more cooking through the holiday.

Ya'll have a wonderful Labor Day !!!  I also got all my mowing done last Thursday..... WhaaaaHooooo......
God Bless, Rob

G'morning everyone!  I have just spent a very long time trying to get to this page 2 of the posts.    :-\  It kept telling me this page was not available.  So..... I just went over to read at SN and came back here from time to time.  I could get to any other page here except this one (#2).  That's when I got the idea to hit "reply" and I could read all the posts down below here .... purty clever doncha think?

Anyway, now that I've got the reply box here I decided I best post something ... even if it's nothing.

All y'all seem to be having a great weekend and staying out of trouble (for the most part) and that's just fine.  Me?   Well, the same ol' same ol' here.   My neighbor called me yesterday evening and invited me over for rhubarb pie she had just taken out of the oven.  She has a garden and picked the rhubarb and strawberries from there, then went online looking for recipes.  She said she found hundreds of them and chose to make a "rhubarb, strawberry custard pie"  They told me they were trying it out on me!  I guess it's like that commercial where the kids say give it to Mikey he'll eat anything ... then "He likes it!"   :D

Well, now I will see if I can get this posted and then I'm off to look for something for breakfast ...

Oh, by the way, JANET .... I would love to read/see your report on China, too.  Wanna do as Pat suggests and put it in the Photograph forum?  Huh?  Huh?  Purty please ....  :)

See y'all later ...................
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

I slept late this morning, then met a group of friends for lunch at a little eatery called the Puffy Muffin. The tortilla soup and chicken salad on a whole wheat roll was very good. Fellowship with fellow christians, of course, was even better!

Then, it was off to the grocery.

Now, I think I'll put some laundry in and rest a little while.

Y'all have a good evening.

Ruth Ann

have just been taking it easy today, making some graphic and some stationery in PSP and working on my quilt. I am quilting it in freestyle which mean I am not using any template or pattern for the stitching just wingin' it. It's for me anyway.

Glad to hear that you go to sleep in Ruth ann, you rest when you can.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We had a busy morning and then after lunch I had a nice nap for about 90 minutes.  We plan to stay home the rest of the day.  Our son had planned to come over today but called and said he would have to delay it until Monday as he had sold his hot tub this morning and had to help load it and this afternoon the man who is buying their property and how had purchased several big items from him was coming to pick them up later this afternoon.  I am sure he will have some sore muscles tomorrow from all that lifting.  They are about to get rid of all the things they are not going to move to South Carolina with them.  I know they are getting anxious to get the move behind them and have the real estate transaction completed.

Ruth Ann, so nice to be able to share time with good Christian friends.  I suppose you are starting to pack for your trip this next week.

Jane, what good thinking to hit the reply button to get the messages to show on page 2.  I expect most of us hadn't thought of that technique.  You mention of rhubarb reminds me of something I read a little while ago regarding rhubard.  It said southern folks couldn't understand why anyone would want pink celery pie and northeasterns are delighted when they see something made from rhubarb.  I must have been a southerner at heart as I really dislike rhubarb.  :)

Rob, the Max Lucado book on it being all about God is basically the theme that Rick Warren has in his Purpose Driven Life book.  Enjoy your holiday and all that good food.

Marilyn, you probably won't notice a change in your Internet response time as that is a factor of your ISP and the speed of the server.  However, you should see your programs load much more quickly.  You will like having the additional memory.  When I got my new computer I got one with a meg of  RAM and enjoy the extra speed.  It also handles streaming content better. Sorry to read you couldn't sleep.

Etta Sue, glad to see you got your yard mowed and now you can relax and enjoy the weekend and the Monday holiday.

Candice, you have been one busy person the last few weeks.  It sounds like you had a great summer vacation.  When do you begin your schooling again?

Sarah, shall I send a boat?  That is really a lot of rain.

Smokeythe dog, I had to search a bit but looked on the Men's Ministry section of your church website and think I found the photos and the story you had written.  Thanks for sharing those with us.

Pat, I hope you don't get too much rain tomorrow or any storms from the percipitation.

Nita, that is a really nice thing of your daughter's neighbor to do.  It was certainly something she didn't have to do and that makes it special.  You must have a very special daughter to be such a fine neighbor.

Janet, I think the suggestions you have received to put your China story here on CP is a really good one.  I am sure more folks would see it and enjoy it.  Glad to read that you were feeling more like your normal self in your last postings.  I think we all have those occasional "down" days and that is a part of the normal range of emotions of the human experience.  It helps us appreciate the good days.  I have always felt blessed in that my normal state of mind is upbeat and I don't get down too often, although this last month provided many opportunities.

Till next time.

Pat

Hi folks...

Got out of bed to open tomorrow's New Every Morning.  Feel like I have the 24 hour flu or something.

I went to see Smokey's photos from his Men's Weekend and what he wrote on that page was so good, I thought I'd share it with you all.

(Hope you don't mind Smokey!) ;)
