JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

                       ADOPTED AS A SON

"Wherefore, thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ."  Galatians 4:7

Mr. Moody told the account of the difference between a servant, a guest and a son.  He pictures a reception room in a private residence at an early morning hour.  A man came into the room, opened the shutters, then began to straighten up the room.  It was obvious that he was a servant.  Shortly after this, another man entered the room, looked around at the portraits and furnishings, and then je picked up a book and began to read.  Evidently he was a guest.  Next, a boy about 16 rushed into the room, he gave a cheery "Good morning" to the guest, and shouted to the kitchen, "Say, when will breakfast be ready?"  Then upon hearing the familiar footsteps in the reception room, he flung himself into the arms of the master of the house who had just shaken hands with the guest.  No one needed to be told that this was the son.

Then Moody said, "Truly we are the servants of God, a blessed privilege.  We are also the guests of God, an unspeakable honor.  But we are more than servants; we are more than guests; we are the children of the Great King.  God is our Father and we are joint heirs with Jesus Christ.  This is why God sent His son, that we might receive the adoption of sons.  Praise His Holy Name!

We need the grace of adoption to take us out of the foundling hospital of the world and to bring us into the family of God.

Carol I think the son is more concerned about not having to  do his share of caring for her. He already has power of attorney which means that he has total control over her as well. He has told me face to face that he can do what he want with her. He just comes in to get the bills , write the check, drop off my paycheck and leaves. He is concerned about how much it costs for her medicine and wants the doctor to cut back some of the meds. He is going to talk to the Dr. about that too.

The home he wants to put her in is the same one she was in for rehab after her surgery. I have been there and it is the worst one around here. They keep them  tied into wheel chairs and don't let them walk on their own. They drug them so they wont be bothered. It makes me sick to see our elders treated in such a way by family members who  are not involved and think they know everything. So they put them in a home  where they won't have to be bothered with them.

If he would just talk to the Home Health nurse and others who are around her every single day, he would see that she is not as bad off as he thinks she is.

I don't care about my job that doesn't even enter the picture, I can always get another, I love her and care about her well being. I can't take care of her in a nursing home.

Janet, I do pray you are much better and if not, that you see a doctor soon.  You, of all people, the one that flits around like a bumble bee, should not be down!

Ruth Ann, is anti-inflammatories the same as anti-biotics?  I realized last evening that I stood all the time yesterday while 'others' sang (since singing is using your voice) during the contemporary service.  I don't remember my back hurting at all all day.  And I have thought that something was inflamed back there.  If the anti-biotics stopped the back pain, it was well worth this surgery.

I went to Kitty's last evening.  I am going to crochet a doily for her semi-circle table...13" x 25".  We decided and oval doily would do.  Needs to be done by June 24 and the afghan I am making needs to be done by May 26.

Ivalou and I have a g-nephew graduating in Michigan, May 20.  Kaye Don and Barb's grandson.  They are going for three days but Ivalou and I have decided to get us a room and have a mini-vacation!  Now to test my voice tomorrow and see if a room is available.

Doing some laundry today.  Nice and bright and sunny but a chill in the air.  I walked some outside today but finished inside.

Marilyn - I know exactly how you feel about your client.  I used to get into all the care centers in the Northwest, and I've seen what you're describing all too much.  I'm thankful to realize that God's ultimately in charge, and that therefore justice and righteousness will ultimately prevail.  In the meantime, though, it is indeed sad that the law can do nothing.

Janet - God grant you to be aware of His arms around you and His love enveloping you.

Nita

Hi, everyone.  Our weather is beautiful today!!  And warm too.  The only drawback is the mosquitoes already.  If I can remember correctly, it seems they didn't hang out in my back yard till later in the summer.  I have no standing water anywhere, yet there they are.  I tried to sit out this morning for a bit, and was bitten 3 times.   I guess from now on I have to use repellent even to go outside in the morning.

But that sounds like complaining. LOL   It truly is a Marvelous Monday!

Marilyn, I've been reading your posts about Ruth, and have been concerned as well.  I know I was just feeling your concern.  She has been calling you more and more, obviously frightened of being alone, bless her heart, and I thought that soon she would need  more care than she is being given.  I know you do everything she needs, when you're there, but evidently her son isn't willing to pay for more hours for you, or a relief person.   The people my sis cares for are slowly heading toward needing around the clock care.  They aren't there yet, but it will happen.   I know with your prayers for Ruth,  she will get that care and when it's time, God will release you and put you on another assignment. :)

I have been reading a book called Exalting His Word.  In it she repeats a phrase we've heard, but it is so true.  I thought I'd just repeat it here for each of us.

"I am not who you think I am.  I am not who I think I am.  I am who God says I am."   God's Word is filled with promises of who I am and who I shall become.    I know we find our Wonderful Jesus all through the Bible.  This book is about finding yourself in there too. :)  We are hidden in Christ, and where He is we are.  Where He is revealed, we are revealed.  Good stuff!  I have been pondering on that for a few days now.  Somethings we know, but then it flows into a deeper level...and we find we didn't know at all.

Today is wash day. (this week, anyway)  Gotta go take a load of towels from the dryer and fold towels.  I like folding towels. )  They always fold so evenly, not like some sheets I've known, and look so finished. haha   It doesn't take much to please me.

later,  Nita

Jane Walker

Just stopping by to say "Hi" to all y'all on this absolutely beautiful Monday on the Oregon Coast!  Oh, I see Nita has already dubbed it a Marvelous Monday ...  She's right, of course.      ;)

I had an appointment with the radiologist this morning (routine, mammography) and it was such a pleasure to not have to wear a coat, or sweater -- just a short sleeved blouse! (with the rest of my clothes, of course)   ;)   Yup, it doesn't take much to please me either.

I have to smile at the way God has of reminding me of Himself at just the "right" times.  Yesterday evening my youngest daughter called me.  Now, that in itself is not unusual because she often calls when she is feeling down or in need of a shoulder to cry on.  She sounded so glum when I answered and she said "hullo  mom ..."  I right away asked what was wrong.  She said "i'm calling with what for me is a very unusual request...."

Okay ... what is it?

"I need you to pray for me ... and Will (her boyfriend)"  She told me of some unhappy circumstances and how frustrated and disappointed they both were and said "I couldn't think of anything else to do."

Actually, prayer is the first thing I think of, but Dot is different.   :)  She has. long ago, decided to go it on her own and has explored just about every religion and self-help avenue available.  Never seemed too interested in her Mom's faith or at least never spoke much about it, although more recently has been more open to discussion with me.

Now, with this request for prayer, I see it as a first step back toward trusting God for guidance.  I also see it as His way of letting me know that I'm really not as useless and unnecessary in my childrens' lives as I'd begun to think.

Janet, I have been watching the news reports of the terrible storms and aftermath across the central plains...and it continues... and, especially of the complete annihilation of that small town of Greensburg, KS.  I have been praying for all the people in need and for those who have lost everything.  What a horrendous shock.  And the tornado season is only beginning.   :-\

Marilyn, I am still pondering the trip to California.  Gas prices continue to soar and I will need to have an oil change and perhaps tire rotation for my car before such a trip.  I know there's a place for me to stay other than a motel, though, so that helps.  I'll take my sleeping bag because Joy and John may still be short of furniture.     ;)

Joy has said they are getting Comcast (phone, TV, and internet) tomorrow so she will be able to call me then.  I will have more information and be better able to make the decision about a trip then.

Gotta go .... I would love to comment on all the posts I've been reading but this is already too long.  I don't want to be a "post pig" y'know.   :-[
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Marilyn

We spoke with the Home Health Nurse today and Ruth's son can NOT put her away without her consent. He only has power of attorney over her money not her medical issues. He would have to take her to court and have her declared incompetent, If he puts her in the nursing facility she can sign herself out. That is sure a relief off her shoulders. Her blood pressure was way up today when I got there because of the worry.

We went to Eureka today to the Sizzler for the free salad bar that she had tickets for. Then we stopped at Target so I could run in and buy her a magnifying mirror. She was so thrilled to be able to see her face and her hairdo.

Jane you a  Post Pig I seriously doubt that.

Thank you so much Al.  I owe you one!

It's a really good thing I'm not sick very often.  I just cannot tolerate it!  If I'm not a LOT better by morning, off to the doctor I go.  Other than trying to post this morning, I have spent the entire day in bed.  Ugh. :P  One really annoying thing is how much it affects my vision.  If I didn't type by "feel" I couldn't do it at all today.  Have to use a big magnifying glass to read the posts. :(

I hope you all stay well, and thanks for remembering the Greensburg people.  Such a sad situation.

Hello all:

Janet: about the fishing "mess"  being cleaning the fish.  I do know you were having fun.

Larry:  Yes I have had a wonderful birthday, Sue & friend took myself and Mel out for dinner last evening as Mel has his day on Saturday.

No laundry for me until the utility pump is back and running ( we need this, to pump the water into the septic tank). The pump is not up and running because I did the wrong kind of laundry so it got plugged with lint even though I have a filter in the machine as well as on the external hoses.

Janet: Perhaps I should sign up with Fly Lady then things would really fly.

Etta Sue:  Is tomorrow the day you can talk?

Pat:   Hello

Hello, all :)

Marilyn, I really feel sorry for Ruth.  So sad when children don't properly care for their elders.

Good to read all the posts.  Not a lot to add; just trying to get through this post-surgery "stuff".

I hope all of you have a really good week.

Bernard

Bernard, how are you really feeling?  I remember when Jack had his open heart surgery, he went through a time of feeling so "down" and the doctors said it was so common to folks having this.

Are you able to do a lot of walking?

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Really late getting her today as it has been a very busy day.

I left coffee early to take Pat to a chiropractic appointment.  She is some better but still not getting around very well.  I then had to get to the cardiologist for a routine appointment at 11 am and he is about an hour away.  He as an hour late in seeing me so it was about 2 pm when I got home.  He wants me to have an untrasound of the aorta just as a precaution.  They are recommending this test for anyone over 65 who has heart disease to rule out or be able to monitor any anyurism (sp).  There is no indication I have one but he wants to make sure so if I did they can closely monitor it.

After resting we decided we needed cushions for the backs of the chairs on the porch and to get a cusion for another different type chair on the porch so it was back to Home Depot and then to a restruarant to pick up sandwhiches for dinner.

Our porch looks very nice as it was all cleaned and polished this morning.  We got covers for all the chairs to protect the cushions and think we will get a lot more use from the screened porch.  I will try to put up the sun shades tomorrow as was too tired to tackle it this evening.

Janet, sorry that you are under the weather.  Sounds like it fits right in with being a resident of Kansas at this time with the tornados and now floods.  Hope you feel a lot better tomorrow.  Thanks for the new devotional for this week.

Bernard, believe me it does get a lot better so hold in there.  As Pat says it is pretty normal to go through some down days.

Marilyn, I just can't understand why a child would be concerned about the parents money more than the the best care for the parent.  Glad that your client has some say in the decision to go into a care home.  Is there any possibility for an assisted living arrangement?  Your compassion and concern for your clients is very evident and so admirable.

Jane, I am convinced that God works is strange ways, not strange for God but in our human understanding.  This past year has been an eye opener for me in this regard.

Nita, our weather was very beautiful here today as well.  It was so clear and the humidity in the low 20s.  This is very unusual for us this time of the year.

Etta Sue, your little badge was a great idea.

Carol, Pat has a portable Bernina that she got when we were staying in Missouri.  It doesn't get used very often but occasionally.

Liz, I have never seen an IMAX film but understand they are quite awesome.  Glad you were able to get out.

Time to retire for the night as can hardly keep my eyes open.

JudyB

Larry any pro active tests the medical profession does is good,  So often they wait till there is a problem and then turn to drugs.  Keep an eye on things.

Pat I hope your weekend was good.  A good break from the normal.

Nards keep doing what the Doctor and nurse Karma says.... can be boring but in the end worth it.

Janet I understand by our news that they have found a survivor.  Maybe there are more?  We should keep prayint.  I am sorry you aren't feeling well, A day in bed isn't nice but perhaps you need the rest.

Marilyn it is good that Ruth's son could not make that move.  You are doing a good job, too bad there aren't more home care providers like you!.

Jane prayer is the first thing we should do....but for us "fixers" it somehow doesn't "feel" like enough.  We can thank our Lord that she knew who to call for prayer.  I do know that it is only through prayer that we can truly see any change......we have to get our feelings in line with what we do indeed "know"!

Nita sounds like a good book.  I will see if it is in our church library.

Etta Sue it is just a little bit of time left and you will be able to talk as normal.   Bless you I am praying for you during this time.

Al Still praying about those legs.

I am off to bed.  Tired tonight.
God bless JudyB

It's a beautiful, sunshiny day here on the Lost Coast of northern Calif.  So that's what is coming your way toward the east.  Our weather is going to march directly accross the country, and it will be in New York City in four days.

A close friend of mine is going to be preaching this Sunday, and he hasn't done much of that before, so I'd appreciate prayer for him as he prepares.

Hiya all!!
While most of you are enjoying the warm weather up there in the Northern Hemisphere, down here in Australia, we are enjoying a glorious Autumn. The leaves on the trees are turning colour and I must admit that this is my favourite time of year. :)

Things are busy (as usual) in my household. LOL! How can it not be with six sons?!  :)

God is doing marvellous things in our lives, for which I am grateful and rejoicing in. My husband George, is planning another trip to India soon. He'll be away for 6 weeks. In July my first book will be released. It goes to print in a few weeks time and I'm getting very excited about it. :)  Recently I took a position with EZRAweb.com as a freelance writer to write Biblical fiction stories for their readers. This requires that I write a new story each week and I'm looking forward to doing this. As for my photography, God is opening new doors for me, especially in the USA, so I'm looking forward to seeing what the Lord will do there. :)

I do apologise that I don't post here more frequently and keep up-to-date with each of you precious people. It's 5am right now and my children are still sleeping, so I have the time to drop in for a little chat. (I still have only the 'newbie' status. LOL!)

See you all again soon, until then, love and blessings in abundance.  <3

Hi everyone.  We have had another delightful day here in Georgia with a little breeze, for which I am thankful as it is much more humid than yesterday and quite a bit warmer.

I am writing from our screened in porch, which I think we have about finished getting all ready to enjoy ourselves and for my sister's visit.  I just know we are going to enjoy, at least we better as we have put quite a few dollars into the various elements.  Fortunately we have had the porch furniture for many years but had never bought nice cushions and chair covers to protect them.

I just finished putting up the new blinds a few while ago and Pat and I are sitting out here enjoying the early evening as the sun moves to the West.  She is eating her dinner and I am skipping mine as today was the luncheon at the Senior Center and they had a great meal.  Pat didn't attend as her back is still bothering her but this evening she seems to be much better.

We were called a little while ago to tell us the Bible Study with our minister tomorrow has been canceled as his daughter has to go to court regarding a car accident and he, of course, needs to be with her.  Since I don't have choir practice tomorrow night I think I will have a complete day pretty free of meetings and hopefully going out, other than to go to coffee in the morning.

Hi Marilyn, Al, JudyB and all who will visit her tonight.

InspiredGal, congratulations on your book that is to be published.  That responsibility to write a story a week for a website sounds like a big task but it sounds like you are really looking forward to it.  Glad your husband is getting to return to India for a visit.

Sarah, you are one busy young lady.  Sorry that your shoulder is bothering you.

Etta Sue

I am talking!!!
But I am not talking normal.  Still raspy.  I am thinking that when I get over this cold, I will be fine.  Hope that is before I go to see the surgeon next Monday morning.  But I do want to thank all of you for your prayers.  I could feel them!

Busy day!  I mowed the grass and then ran the weed-eater.  After taking a shower I headed to Noblesville for a sandwich at Hardee's.  Then to Lowe's.  I went to see if they had downspout props.  They look like a 'Y' only a 90° top part and you put them in the ground and then your downspout sits in the middle top.  Keeps the winds around here from blowing them to kingdom come!  But I didn't find any.  But I came out of there with some Gorilla Glue, some chain, a battery-operated leaf blower, a spreader and a bag of weed killer stuff for the lawn.  There is no way I will walk this acre yard but I am trying to devise a way of pulling it with the lawn mower.  HMmm!

Ivalou and I are going to Michigan to a g-nephews high school graduation.  But we didn't want to go with Kaye Don and Barb...they are going for three nights and staying at their daughter's house.  So I called this morning and made reservations at a motel right on a lake.  The lady told me the price and I thought that sure isn't what AAA says so I asked why.  She said for Saturday night the room comes with a buffet dinner, a banana split and buffet breakfast the next morning when rented for two people.  So that isn't so bad and besides we won't have to hunt for a place to eat!

I went to Ivalou's to tell her about our room and then decided to go to Lapel to Dollar General.  I am having Euchre here the 15th..less than a week now.  So I purchased some things for that and then went next door to Subway for my dinner tonight.

Busy day!  I was going to wash windows in and out but I see it is lightening thundering out right now!!  Really dark and shouldn't be dark yet!

Thanks for the message at the top of this new week!

Marilyn:  How awful your client/friends son is behaving.  What an ingrate!!!!

We drove out to a dam today and saw a lot of cattle - black angus with their calves.  This is horse country as well and even some painted ponies which is what the natives preferred.   Spent some time at a quilt store downtown while Don walked around and he didn't remark at all about how long I chatted with a gal in the store.

Carol

Okay ya'll.  I need some idea help.  Bernard's mom and dad are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary on June 11th.  I did not know this until today, but we would really like to do something special for them.  Bernard is an only child, so if it is to be, it is up to me. :)

I want it to be
1. fun
2. cheap
3. easy
4. able to involve other family members

A reception seems the most likely route, but it's kinda late to start planning that I'm afraid.  I dunno.  i was just wondering if any of ya'll had seen/had/been to something unique.

Physically, I think Bernard is healing up normally, but yeah, he's a little down right now.  It seems to be a little like postpartum depression that I had after Travis.  It "feels" awful, and irrational, but is perfectly normal, and "real".   Right now, I'm encouraging him to get into a routine of sorts.  He does seem to do better when he walks of the morning instead of afternoon or night.  Hopefully, this will hold true.

Take care all!!

Karma

duh.  that post was made by me signed in as bernard.

Etta Sue

I want it to be
1. fun...games for all ages
2. cheap...how about a park
3. easy...How about a pitch-in
4. able to involve other family members...other family members could be in charge of games or other things to entertaim the little ones.

This way you can call or mail invites to friends and family members...cheap.  Food could be limited..two or three could buy the meat and others pitch-in the rest.  All that needs is someone to call the park to reserve the tables or shelter or go early and squatter's rights gets the tables.  June 10th is on Sunday and a perfect day for a family/friends get together at a park with lots of food.

I am all for fun, easy. cheap and family.  Since my Mother and Dad are gone, we have a FROGGS back in the woods the second Saturday in August.  Friends and Family Of Grandma and Grandpa Stevenson.  This year will be our third annual FROGGS.  We kind of have it all day from around 10am until dark.  Bring your own meat to roast on the fire, a dish to share and your own drinks.  And of course, chairs and toys to entertain your kids.  We have a ball every year so far.

Oh Ruth Ann, YOu are such a blessing to all of us here.

That testimony is just what this gal needed tonight.

Thank you

JudyB

I heard tonight that there is a fire in California, in the Glendale area.  Thankfully our family in LA ia far away from Glendale.  We need to be praying for those who have lost homes and that there will be no lost lives.

Janet

Oh, Ruth Ann, you are SUCH a blessing!  No one I know has had more challenges in life, and you keep standing strong.  You also appreciate every thing done for you.  May I give you a big cyber hug? ((((((((Ruth Ann))))))))  Thanks for sharing that, it really blessed me.

I am feeling better today, think maybe the egg and toast I ate will stay with me.  Beth had called me Monday wanting me to take her somewhere, I told her I was sick; she told Mom.  So Mom has called me every day, sometimes twice, to see how I am, offer advice (take soda water) etc.  Funny.  We never get through being Moms, do we?  And we always appreciate being needed.

Larry, I know you and Pat will enjoy your refurbished porch.  I wish I had something similar, but it would never be feasible here with the wind like it is, and no protection.  But I can always dream, can't I?  Enjoy your sister's visit.

Darrel is wanting me to go somewhere with him, and I haven't even brushed my hair, so I will finish this later.
