JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

:coffee:  Up and "at em" as my dad said early every morning.

Liz:  LOL on the flea application time for you - a standoff at the OK Corral!  I bet you won.

Am better this morning, something strange for me last night I went to a 6 PM water exercise & felt so blah & weak now so much better.

Liz:  My northern Minnesota guy has a terrible time in the heat as well & I never sit in the sun so it is hard on these hotter days but we have a reprieve right now & it is great.

Off to quilt today.  I know that sounds boring to a lot of people, do use math a lot in these projects, far more than anyone who doesn't sew would understand.  So, now I will call it a mind exercise.

So many people with the hardship of floods and other weather related problems.

Hi everyone.  Just back from our normal Friday men's coffee a the senior center.  We had about 14 men there this morning.

We had some thunder here last night and around the area they had some storms but we didn't get a drop of rain.

I think my cold is about gone but I am still having the back ache and knee joint aching.  By last evening I was feeling better but this morning really don't feel very good.  I suppose I should see the doctor but don't know what I would tell him as the cold seems to be about over.  Guess it is time to take some Tylonol.  Just plan on taking things easy today and will probably read a bit.  I don't have anyplace I need to go today.

Like several of you have expressed I just don't feel like chatting today so will sign off for today.

Etta Sue

Good Morning.  I survived the 98° temp yesterday.  Now today it is to be cooler...high of 94°!  And I need to go to the bank today.  Would like to do that before the hottest part of the day.

Kaye Don spent another night in the hospital.  I really wish they would call in the urologist to see why his stomach looks like a basketball even when lying down.  Since I have bladder cancer, I would like him to be diagnosed benign.

And Ivalou reminded me that Sunday we are to go to the Indianapolis Indians baseball game in Indy.  I had forgotten about it.  We are to leave her church at noon so I will be attending her church.  I haven't been to an Indians game since...humph...high school!!  Kaye Don wanted to be a professional baseball player but after high school graduation he got rheumatic fever so had to give up that dream.  So in my younger years I spent a lot of time at baseball games.

Seems quite a few of you just aren't in the mood to post today.  That's okay.  Everyone needs a day of rest once in a while.

God bless you all!!

Hi Everyone...

You all should see my house!

Kathleen is packing to move up to Thunder Bay and I have garbage bags in my living room full of clothes and so many boxes filled with books and CDs and DVDs.  It will be nice to be able to get that room cleaned after she's out of it and maybe repainted.

I've been invited to attend a birthday celebration tonight for a friend of mine and we're all going out to dinner to some new restaurant so that will be nice.

Hi Nards!

Yes Pat that will be nice.  There is always something about having your house to yourself.

Hi Everyone else.

Have a good evening

Blue is the correct color for me today for sure.  Long, very frustrating day--took Beth to Garden City for another MRI.  They gave her sedation via IV--she was OUT, but when they put her on the MRI table, her legs cramped and she could not be still.  So they brought her back out and she was out cold!  So--back to MRI again; same result.  Brought her out, tried for an hour and a half, couldn't wake her up! :o  Finally they came and got me, told me they couldn't wake her up, I went in and shook her shoulder, called her name, etc.  She finally fluttered her eyes open, but it took another half hour to get her awake enough that we could leave, with her still 3/4 asleep.  So again, no MRI they can even read.  This is getting so frustrating, not to mention expensive!  Now what???

We have to leave now, going to a picnic planning for the upcoming Walk to Emmaus.  Talk to you tomorrow.

Well I finally made it here with time to post. The day has been busy after I got off work. I had to stop to trade some Chocolate flyers for some brochures, and pick up  a couple of Univera products to my own use from another distributor. Then I had to show her how to  get around on the new website to place an order.

Next I stopped at K-mart to buy a black ½ slip and camisole to wear with my new size 12-14 black dress. Then I went to Arcata First Baptist church for 1½ hours in the Healing Waters prayer rooms.

Home again this time I watered out font, cleaned up dog mess out back and here I am.  Tomorrow I will be canning/freezing beets. I only have 14 pint jars with flats and rings, I will do those and freeze the rest. My friend Willa gave me two big bags of beets. I may mow in the afternoon if the sun comes out.

I have lost 4 lbs this month and 4.5 lbs of body fat, and some inches. I have been eating the Chocolate for the past 3 weeks. I've noticed that I am not eating as much nor am I hungry.

I go to the doctor Monday to get the results of my blood tests.

Good Morning Everyone...

We sure had a lot of rain last night.  And I was at that birthday party and a transformer exploded and a huge grid of Guelph was in darkness--including the house I was at so no coffee and what a hard job trying to cut the birthday cake by flash light.

It's drizzly out now so that will help the gardens and grass.

Janet, that is just terrible what you are going through with Beth.  I'm so sorry.

Good Morning I was here earlier but I was the last post so I didn't say anything then.

Janet When you look in please know that I am praying for Beth and for you and those who are caring for her. I pray that her insurance is covering the costs of the Mri and that it is not an out of pocket expense for her or for you.

It was so wonderful yesterday to sit for an hour in a room by myself  with beautiful piano music playing, just talking to the Lord and  listening to Him. I enjoyed that so much. There were no distractions it was just me and Jesus. Awesome!

I have one batch of  beets out of the water bath and the last 4 pints  in in now. There is a load of laundry in the dryer and one in the washer and the kitchen and bath are swept. I still have dishes to do, the two floors to mop and the living and bed rooms to vacuum.

Pat that was very unfortunate that the power grid went off at the party. Good to see you back.

Etta Sue I sure enjoy the things you email me thank you, I don't think I have ever told you that I like them.

Judy B is the dog still  looking for her chicks? My neighbor had a goose that followed his female Pit Bull around and ven came to the fence to honk at me when she would bark. He finally got him a mate but they wouldn't have anything to do with each other. So he gave the two geese away and now they  have bonded.  He has so many chicken, chicks, ducks, geese and a couple of turkeys along with two pit bulls and a bird dog.
They are all together in the yard and no problems. The dogs leave them alone.  The two pit bulls are very sweet dogs and he has them totally under control with hand signals.

I stop to talk and sometimes the male is outside the fence  with him off leash just sitting there. He will come and sniff my dogs and check them out then go back and sit down or lay down.  There is another place that has a Wolf and Happy likes to go inside her fence and run with her. There are 6 wolves living in the neighborhood two are very huge.

Gotta go set the timer.

Good afternoon.  My Satellite TV is fixed.  It seems that the socket that the receiver was plugged in is bad.  The man took out the receiver and plugged it into a wall socket and it turned on.  He plugged it back in the power strip...same socket...and it wouldn't turn on.  He plugged it in a different socket on the power strip and it is fine and dandy!  I am glad because they don't offer Ultimate TV receivers anymore.  I would really miss my 'recording two shows while watching another show'.  I don't do that much but I have more than once.

Kaye Don is home from the hospital.  He slept really good last night.  But I don't think he is out of the woods yet.  I wish he would go to his Urologist to find out why all of this happened.  Seems there was more than one problem.

Pictures??....no, not lately.  But next Tuesday we are in for a great show with the moon and the sun.  Check out this website and set your alarm for early Tuesday morning.  http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2007/03aug_dreamyeclipse.htm

We had a night of storms.  My bistro table was tipped over because someone (me) forgot to lower the umbrella.  And I had two dead limbs on the ground from the tree in my front yard.  But right now the sun is shining bright.

Haven't had lunch yet so I had better go.

Etta Sue, there is also to be a planet so bright on the 27th that it will look like we have two moons!  Lots to look up for, huh?  Thanks for the link.

I hope Kaye Don is better and that you can talk him into getting checked.

Marilyn, are you pickling those beets or just canning them "plain?"  Thanks for the prayers.

Pat, that was an experience, cutting cake in the dark!  But it will be remembered, anyway.  We went to the picnic, and it was so cool I was really glad I'd brought along a light jacket.

My buddy Pat cut and styled my hair this morning, then we went to an art show, then to the Civic Center for "Community Driving Safety Day" where we enjoyed a free lunch (hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and drinks),  then we went by to see Beth.  She's still groggy today!

I'm really tired, it is cloudy and cool, perfect weather for a nap, so guess what I'm going to do???  ;)

I just canned plain beets , I didn't even add the salt to them. I used them cold in my salad.  I am finally done with all the work I am going to do today. I will shower and wash my hair after I go check the mail box. The rest of the day will be spent relaxing. I am not going to mow today. No sun yet it is still overcast with fog.

Hi everyone.  Our day isn't as hot as it has been for quite a few days.  We had one of those popup storms last evening and got about an inch of rain in our area, which is much needed.

Marilyn, that is good that you have had the good weight lose and been able to eat the chocolate.  The beets sound good.  I really like them fixed as harvard beets but will eat them just out of the jar especially on salads.  I see that is how you like the beets as well.

Pat, I bet you won't forget that birthday party by flashlight.

Janet, it appears that Beth is not going to be able to have the MRI.  I can imagine what a frustrating and disappointing day it was for you all.  I hope your "Walk" helped ease your tension and your mind for awhile.  They must have really given Beth a big knockout dose if she is still groggy today.  Glad you got to have a day doing something for yourself today and hope you have been able to have a nap.

Etta Sue, hope you enjoy the baseball game.  It sounds like it may be pretty warm a the game.  Glad to read that your brother is out of the hospital.  It sounds like he needs further attention by a specialist.  That sure doesn't sound very good.

I am happy to say that my back is feeling much better today and hasn't ached as it did yesterday.  I had a nice long conversation with my sister as I was having lunch and then had a nice Saturday afternoon nap.  I then talked with my sister-in-law in Kansas City as she was having some computer problems.  Don't have anything else on the schedule for today so will enjoy my easy chair and finish a book I am reading.

Janet

I'm with you, Larry!  I had a wonderful nap, and now will go to my recliner with a bottle of water and finish a good book I am reading.  The picnic was for prospective "pilgrims" for the Walk, ours couldn't go, as they had company coming in last evening.  But it was a nice break for me, and just being with a group of Christians like that was like healing balm to my troubled soul.

See you tomorrow!

Thanks for Your Time
Author Unknown

It had been some time since Jack had seen the old man. College,
girls, career, and life itself got in the way. In fact, Jack moved
clear across the country in pursuit of his dreams. There, in the rush
of his busy life, Jack had little time to think about the past and
often no time to spend with his wife and son. He was working on his
future, and nothing could stop him.

Over the phone, his mother told him, "Mr. Belser died last night. The
funeral is Wednesday." Memories flashed through his mind like an old
newsreel as he sat quietly remembering his childhood days.

"Jack, did you hear me?"

"Oh, sorry, Mom. Yes, I heard you. It's been so long since I thought
of him. I'm sorry, but I honestly thought he died years ago," Jack
said.

"Well, he didn't forget you. Every time I saw him he'd ask how you
were doing. He'd reminisce about the many days you spent over 'his
side of the fence' as he put it," Mom told him.

"I loved that old house he lived in," Jack said.

"You know, Jack, after your father died, Mr. Belser stepped in to
make sure you had a man's influence in your life," she said

"He's the one who taught me carpentry," he said. "I wouldn't be in
this business if it weren't for him. He spent a lot of time teaching
me things he thought were important...Mom, I'll be there for the
funeral," Jack said.

As busy as he was, he kept his word. Jack caught the next flight to
his hometown. Mr. Belser's funeral was small and uneventful. He had
no children of his own, and most of his relatives had passed away.

The night before he had to return home, Jack and his Mom stopped by
to see the old house next door one more time!

Standing in the doorway, Jack paused for a moment. It was like
crossing over into another dimension, a leap through space and time
The house was exactly as he remembered. Every step held memories.
Every picture, every piece of furniture... Jack stopped suddenly.

"What's wrong, Jack?" his Mom asked.

"The box is gone," he said

"What box?" Mom asked.

"There was a small gold box he kept locked on top of his desk. I must
have asked him a thousand times what was inside. All he'd ever tell
me was 'the thing I value most,'" Jack said.

It was gone. Everything about the house was exactly how Jack
remembered it, except for the box. He figured someone from the Belser
family had taken it.

"Now I'll never know what was so valuable to him," Jack said. "I
better get some sleep. I have an early flight home, Mom."

It had been about two weeks since Mr. Belser died Returning home from
work one day, Jack discovered a note in his mailbox. "Signature
required on a package. No one at home. Please stop by the main post
office within the next three days," the note read.

Early the next day, Jack retrieved the package. The small box was old
and looked like it had been mailed a hundred years ago. The
handwriting was difficult to read, but the return address caught his
attention. "Mr. Harold Belser" it read. Jack took the box out to his
car and ripped open the package. There, inside, was the gold box and
an envelope. Jack's hands shook as he read the note inside.

"Upon my death, please forward this box and its contents to Jack
Bennett. It's the thing I valued most in my life." A small key was
taped to the letter. His heart racing, as tears filling his eyes,
Jack carefully unlocked the box. In it, he found a beautiful gold
pocket watch.

Running his fingers slowly over the finely etched casing, he
unlatched the cover. Inside he found these words engraved:

"Jack, Thanks for your time! --Harold Belser."

"The thing he valued most was... my time"

Jack held the watch for a few minutes, then called his office and
cleared his appointments for the next two days.

"Why?" Janet, his assistant asked.

"I need some time to spend with my son," he said. "Oh, by the way,
Janet, thanks for your time!"

Someone once wrote: "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we
take but by the moments that take our breath away." You may not
realize it, but it's 100% true. Think about this:

1. A t least 2 people in this world love you so much they would die
for you.
2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.
3. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't
like you.
4. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.
5. You mean the world to someone.
6. If not for you, someone may not be living.
7. You are special and unique.
8. When you think you have no chance of getting what you want, you
probably won't get it, but if you trust God to do what's best, and
wait on His time, sooner or later, you will get it or something
better.
9. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good can still
come from it.
10. When you think the world has turned its back on you, take a look:
you most likely turned your back on the world.
11. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you.
12. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the
rude remarks.
13. Always tell someone how you feel about them; you will feel much
better when they know and you'll both be happy.
14. If you have a great friend, take the time to let them know that
they are great.

Thanks for your time!

Good morning all,

Just sitting here in the corner with a cup of coffee  :coffee:, reading, praying, thinking and writing. So many things going on.

Michael went to an orthopedist yesterday for his curvature of the spine. It is causing the rib cage on the left to bow out on his back. The doctor said he is not a candidate for surgery, he would not survive it, he just is not strong enough. And braces are out of the question as well. So just keep him comfortable. Well, he is in God's hands as he always has been, I'm here to love and care for him and do as he needs.

WHAT TO DO

What do you do when life is not fair?
What do you do when you can not help but care?
What do you do when it is more than you can bear?
Take it to the Lord in prayer

You are told there is nothing they can do
You know deep down it is true
And the helplessness you felt before, is renewed
Take it to the Lord, He will see you through

You wonder how you will withstand
The helpless feelings and all the other demands
Of your time and life you have no command
Take it to the Lord, put it in His hands

I know it is easy to say let go and let God
But the problem is still there, you put up a façade
And wonder if others think you are a fraud
Take it to the Lord, He has been where you trod

So what do you do when it is answers you need?
Take it to the Lord, and give heed
To all the love and comfort He gives to the wearied
For He is our loving Father, He is with us and always will be

Jeannine, I've just gone back and re-read your poem and how it's spoken to me this evening!

I want to personally thank you so much for sharing it here.  It has blessed my heart.

I will continue to pray for Michael and for you too as you continue the caregiving day by day.

I shouldn't have tried to post this morning because I really don't have time.  I am ready to go out the door and go to Ivalou's church and then to the baseball game this afternoon.

Just praying that everyone has a God-filled day!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is an overcast day so far.  I haven't been outside so not sure eof what the temperature is.  We will be going to church and out to lunch afterwards and then a quiet Sunday afternoon and evening.

Janet, thanks for sharing that piece.  I think I had read it before as well but it is certainly worth the reread.  It brought a couple of tears to my eyes as I read it.  Glad you had a nice day and took sometime to nap and to read.

Etta Sue, hope your team will win today and that it isn't too hot at the old ballpark.  The last time I went to an Atlanta Braves game was with a church group on a big bus.  I don't plan to attend anymore games as the walking was too much for me.  The night we went we had the opposite of the heat problem, it was very chilly.

May we all look to God for rhis guidance today in all our lives.  He has a plan for us that far exceeds anything we could ever think of.

Marilyn

Good Morning, It is overcast here too but the temp is 54° according the the temp thing on my toolbar.

I am ready for church and I pray that each of you will have an awesome experience with the Lord this morning. We are having an Evangelist this morning as our Pastor is on vacation. We are also having a guest musician playing with the worship team this morning. I always look forward to the Lord's day to see what he is going to do in the service. I love to greet the people as they come in the door and tell them how glad I am to see them. We are still in our 40 day fast. Today it changes to fasting all negativity and doing something nice for someone every day for the next 10 days, we are to focus on loving others.

I am wearing my new dress today and it feels so good to be smaller in size than when I started my quest to lose some weight and get in shape, to eat healthy and be careful of what I put in my body. My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and I want to keep it healthy. Amen?

Gotta go now.

Taking a break - Don and I are trying to install a fabric type shade to our sliding glass door in the dining to patio area - inside, it will stack on the left and I hope that I am getting this right.  It is a mess of three types of instructions, and Don will have to put up some more wood to reinforce this thing - what a puzzle.

I only have to do the final hand quilting on this quilt - it has taken over my life.  Also, I have about three big boxes to donate of glassware & things that don't mean anything.  Have to get things out of the way as Tuesday, I have invited someone over for lunch and she can look at my latest quilt.  Wish I had a maid.

Marilyn:  Pickled beets - I love them on salads - it just isn't a lettuce salad without the pickled beets.

Larry:  Glad that it is cooler.

Pat:  You have the patience of a saint - I love my grands and it would be super to have them living with me but I know the truth is, I live such a calmer life now without the children  ;)

Janet:  Just don't understand how the medical people mishandle Beth much too often.

I would really like a nap but hear Don sawing or something else - perhaps drilling.  Must go.

Carol

Pat

Janet, thanks so much for posting that about the box.

I've been looking for that.  I haven't seen it for a long time and wanted to share that with someone and now I can.

Thanks!

Church was wonderful this morning, I didn't get home until after 2 pm. I stayed to help with prayer then I received prayer at the end. I was next to last to ask for prayer. The evangelist spoke on breaking the generation curses in our families. Isaiah 53:2-7 was the text. He showed showed Jesus shed his blood in 7 different places in the scriptures.   Thank you Jesus I am so full right now, yet I hunger for more. Oh Lord just give me more of you in my life.

I cooked the dogs food for the week that goes over the top of their kibbles. Taken them for their nice long walks That means I got a double walk in.
Not relax a bit before I go back for prayer meeting.

You're welcome, Pat.  I had gotten that about Thanks for Your Time a long time ago, really thought it good, so when I got it again, decided to share.  Glad you can use it.

Carol, it really does get wearying, taking Beth to doctors and not getting any positive results.  :-\  But what can we do?  We want so much to help her, even it it is only relief from her pain.  Her birthday is Tuesday, and I will take her out to dinner after taking her to the chiropractor.

The hot, dry wind was with us again, after two blessed days of cooler and cloudy weather and a tiny bit of moisture.

We are home from church, Darrel is watching football, so I think I will read a while.
