JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Silent Night, Holy Night
(Click to hear music)

There were shepherds living out in the fields nearby,
keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord
appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them.
Luke 2:8-9

Words: Josef Mohr, circa 1816-1818.
Stanzas 1 & 3 translated from German to English by John F. Young, 1863;
translator of stanzas 2 & 4: anonymous

Music: Franz X. Gruber, circa 1820

Silent night, holy night,
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin mother and Child.
Holy Infant, so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.

Silent night, holy night,
Shepherds quake at the sight;
Glories stream from heaven afar,
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ the Savior is born,
Christ the Savior is born!

Silent night, holy night,
Son of God, love?s pure light;
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth,
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth.

Silent night, holy night
Wondrous star, lend thy light;
With the angels let us sing,
Alleluia to our King;
Christ the Savior is born,
Christ the Savior is born!

Well, I am CARless again.  I went out to start my car and it wouldn't start.  I put on the quick start and it still didn't start.  So Ivalou drove to her doctor and I went with her.  While she was seeing the doctor, I prayed....asking God what I should do.  The answer came that I should call my third cousin's business and see if they do electrical work on cars!  Yes, they do.  Meantime, I had put the regular charger on my car battery.  It started up fine.  So I drove to Ivalou's....long distance...and asked her to follow me.  Miller's Body Shop is about 4 miles away....a lot better than the last guy which was about 20-25 miles away...one way.  I am confident that they will find my problem.

Kaye Don called me last evening and is sending me the receipt that he has when he bought my quick start and I will try to exchange it for one that has more amps.  If it won't quick start a car, then it is no good to me.

So today Kitty is driving me to my doctor appointment to get my flexible laryngoscopy!  Then we will come back here, watch a TV show that she wanted me to keep and then go to her house and we are making Christmas Mice.

JudyB ~ Did they find the woman and child?  How sad!

Jane ~ I didn't mean to slight you.  Did your doctor find a growth on your larnyx?  I still have a deep cough.  But I don't know if it is from the surgery or still a cold hanging on.

Gotta run.  Gotta dry my hair!

Thanks, Pat, for posting the winners.  It's very encouraging - they're the ones I picked!  If you want, from now on, you can just ask me who the winners should be.

Thanks, Janet, I know the people there probably missed me.  I don't think there's an episode of that series that I haven't seen at least twice (or many more).  We love the exchanges between "Doc" and Festus.

Well, I gotta go for physical therapy again this AM.  It's the next to last of the scheduled appointments for this TMJ problem that I had.  It's very much better now, so, hopefully, I won't need any more appointments.  As sinners, we deserve all our maladies, but our God is so merciful that He has provided us doctors, etc.  Thank You, Father!

Marilyn

Good Morning last night I forgot to tell you that  on Tuesday they xrayed my left thumb area and my right wrist. I am supposed to hear from the Orthopaedic Surgeon by Monday with an appointment, if I don't I have to call my doctor's office back to have them call again.

JudyB I hope they have found the woman and child and that they are alright.

Liz you sure got is bad during that storm.

Gotta go now and catch up a little bit on SN before I go to work. I am doing three jobs today, I had a prior commitment to take someone to Winco in Eureka to shop before my hours got extended at my afternoon job.

ooooh I made third in the challenge - well that's an improvement on last outing.  Maybe if we have a contest that no-one else enters I'd even manage 1st

Advent

Still some weeks off  'til glory day,
child and manger, God and hay.
Angels, shepherds, gifts and kings
wait impatient in the wings.
And me and mine ?  What of us ?
Do we engage in all this fuss,
or do we, as we ought to do
use this time to prepare for You.

I've put a series of Christmas poems onto my web page (under Christmas work) for anyone who might be interested.

The doctor said "It's quite common .... "  And here I thought I was unique.   :-\  Anyway, no growth but a swelling of the little gland/polyp between the vocal chords.  It's probably been that way for a long time (he says due to acid reflux, but I don't have heart burn, etc.) just getting progressively worse, and he has me on a generic Prilosec for 8 weeks and then I return to see how things are.

I still cough a lot ... and there's always mucus, but I suppose I should take his word for it and just wait and see .......  In the meantime, it's quite miserable and a distraction whenever I'm any place other than alone in my own home.   :-[  Oh, well.......  S'pose this is TMI, but you did ask.

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Wordsculptor - I really love the implications of the last line of your poem.  That's truly well said.

Janet

The only time I have been out the door today was to get the mail this afternoon!  I'm trying to get some things done, and this was one day I had no obligations or appointments outside the house.  I did get quite a bit done, including some matting and framing.  I'm hoping tomorrow I might even get the tree up, but don't quote me on that!

Wordsculptor, I love your little poem, must go and read some more of them.

Nothing much new here, they are predicting freezing rain for tomorrow, maybe turning to snow.  I will wait and see.

Hope all of you are doing well.

The Best Gift of
All This Christmas

The best gift of all this Christmas is the gift of God's own Son, Jesus Christ He is eternal life, He is your peace forever with God, He is your sins forgiven, and He is a home in heaven for you dear friend.
But to make that gift yours you must openly receive it into your life, you must receive Jesus Christ into your life as your Lord and saviour, it is a positive action you alone must make of your own free will, no one else can receive Jesus Christ for you.
The apostle Paul writes in, Colossians 2:6, "As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord so walk in Him."
If you have received Christ, you will need the support and fellowship of other Christians, and as a Christian, it will be more likely that the fellowship of other Christians will find you, that's a miracle in itself, its one of God's ways of saying, "You are Mine."
Please do not leave this earth without knowing Jesus Christ as your Saviour, your own personal Saviour, and God whom you can call Abba father, literally, Daddy, to do so would be an act of rash foolishness. By accepting Christ you have all to gain and nothing to loose.
A suggestion is to read the book of Ephesians chapters one and two, near the back of your Bible, from the very beginning learn to find passages of scripture for yourself it's the only way to learn and grow in the things of God.

Love and best wishes to you this Christmas

Ruth

Hello again.  There are so many things I would like to say but it would sound like I was whining sisters I do not have but wanted so very much to have my brother and I are not close in that his life seems to be going in a different direction and besides he is 7 yrs younger.

I heard a sermon on the TV and we should give Thanks first because God is already taking care of the situation, yet generly we give thanks after the storm so to speak.

It sure seems that it is winter and more winter, similar to the winters of 40 plus years ago.     I have been going to a chiropractor and he wants that I see him twice a week  results I am seeing for the first time since my back problem flared up last August.  It was also today that I had 3 medical appointments all part of the yearly med check up at least that is over.

Judy has the missing lady and child been found yet?

Mel is out curling and until he arrives home I will curl up with a book. Usually I do my reading in the afternoon while at work but a little job has been added so I have lost my time to read.

Hi everyone.  Mom's computer isn't working at the moment so I am posting for her today.  These are her words:

Hi folks, the emergency in the back 40 was worked out.  Whoever had been there was gone by the time the police arrived.

My computer has completely quit.  I think the on/off button is broken.  I am going to be taking it to Heather's to see if she can sort it out for me.

I will be back when I can.

Still CARless!  Kitty took me for my flexible laryngoscopy yesterday and to the grocery store.  She needed some things at Best Buy.  Then we came here to watch 'Flip that House' that her cousin's son was a contractor in Austin, Texas.  We also watched the Rockettes on the Radio Hall Music Christmas Special that I recorded.  Then we went to her house and made Christmas Mice out of Marichinno (sp) cherries, melted chocolate, Hershey kisses, sliced almonds and decorating gel.  Fun!  Then she brought me home.  Great day!

Jane ~ I found out the tickle, cough, mucous was my blood pressure pills.  I changed pills and was okay.  But since my last cold, I still have some tickle, cough and mucous.

Marilyn ~ I forgot to comment on your Earthlink and why I didn't tell you about Earthlink.  Well, I probably did tell about my problems with Earthlink but that might have been before you were using Earthlink.  All I know is my computer was acting so crazy and when I had a computer guru come look at my computer, he told me that Earthlink items were causing my problems.  He deleted everything about Earthlink...I use Outlook Express now.  And all the other things that had the Earthlink software, he deleted.  Now if I 'search' on my computer for 'earthlink', it will show nothing about Earthlink in my computer now.  AND the best part....my computer is running fabulously now!

Tonight Ivalou and I are going with 5 others and meet 13 others at Boggstown Caberet.  I don't know how many miles it is but at least an hour away.  It's a dinner theater.  I was going to drive this other ladies new SUV but one lady heard it may snow and sleet tonight so she isn't going.  So the lady with the SUV said she is going to see if her husband would go and HE could do the driving and us women could talk!!!  Sounds great to me.  I really don't like to drive someone else's vehicle if the roads are bad.

New snow this morning.  So pretty unless you have to get out in it!!  Below is a picture on my disco chairs on my deck yesterday!

Well, Etta Sue, I probably would not be sitting out there on your deck in those disco chairs today.  Brrrrr

That flexible thingy is what I had, too.  Anyway ... I will go along with what the doctor says and let it play out.  He thinks, when I return in 8 weeks, things will be back to normal (whatever that is) .... Hope he's right!   ???

Great picture, Etta Sue!  Won't be long till Spring... I hope, I hope!  ;)

Lovely poem, Keith.  Thanks so much for sharing.

Hope it's not too long till Judy's computer is fixed.

It's so nice to read all your posts.

Do I just love Hershey's chocolate Etta,

Janet

Etta Sue, if your coffee is too hot, just set it on that table and it will cool off in no time!  Have fun at the dinner theater!  I love going to those, but this series we haven't gone to Dodge, as we dislike that long drive home in the dark.  :(

Glad the people near JudyB are all right, or I guess that's what her message meant. (?)

I did get the tree up today, and some other stuff done, as well as coloring Pat's hair for her.  She's a decided redhead---she decided years ago that's what she wanted to be!  And she fixed my hair, too.

I got a call from the Care Home today.  They say neither Mom nor Beth is doing well.......... And that I need to tell my siblings that they should come to see Mom soon.  Doesn't sound good at all.  She seemed so much better to me a couple days ago, but she seems to have "lost her spark" so to speak.  No matter how old we are, I guess we are never ready to let our parents go, are we?

My painting meeting tomorrow has been canceled until January because of bad weather.  Fine with me.  I was ready, but can sure use the extra day to do stuff around here, really must go to the Home tomorrow and check on Mom and Beth.

I just hope the weather doesn't keep me from getting to the eye doctor early Monday morning!!!

Hi everyone.  It is getting late so will try to be brief but wanted to check in.  I spent a good part of the day getting my Christmas Cards and letters ready to mail tomorrow.  I also tried to find something for our daughter-in-law that we wanted to get but they apparently don't make that item anymore.

Janet, so sorry to hear that your mother and Beth are both failing.  I agree with you in that it is never easy to give up our parents but most of us have to face that time.  The thought of losing a child is even more frightening.

Pat, thanks for sharing the winning pictures and congrats to the winners.

Etta Sue, sorry to hear of your new car problems.  Hope they find the problem.

I have read all the other postings but will not try to respond to them tonight.

Carol

Here, it has been snowing all day but not much accumulation.

Gord Brown:  Now, how did you know we had some snow????

Still, I drove to the gym for pool exercise - even though I have a reaction to a Shingles shot in my upper arm but it is a closed area, just red & feverish in a huge spot.  Ugly.  Tried all day to work on sewing bowls for gifts and they are not good enough for giving away so now, I will have 4 fabric bowls in my sewing room for odds and ends (of which I own too many odd things)

Judy  B:  Thanks to Heather we know that everyone is out of the woods.  Hope your 'puter is fixed.

Janet:  Praying for you and the family.

Marilyn:  Welcome back - I am so glad that you have some more hours for work.

Pat:  Hi - I sent in Lesson 4 and will see how that PSP lesson turns out.  Carol

Well today was sort of busy. I had to get up at my usual time in the afternoon, but instead of going to work, My wife and I had to go and sing in our christmas program at church. Fortunately I got 4 hours off so I could fo it! Well now I have to finish the rest of my 12 hour shift. Tomorrow we do the second performance, but I don't have to work that night.
You might be a dog lover if:
You have more dog toys in your bed than people.

Marilyn

I am enjoying my new working hours and both of my Jobs. The morning job is two hours on Monday morning and one hour the rest of the week. I am loading or unloading the dishwasher, making beds, general housekeeping. the afternoon job I am mainly just being there for anything they need.

I was originally hired to come for two hours and prepare supper and clean up afterward. Then Evelyn fell and went to the hospital for a few days;the family decided that they both needed someone to be there for more hours. So Now I am doing what I always do, the light housekeeping afternoon snacks, supper etc.

I do spend  some time petting their dog Buck and teaching him how to shake hands and do the tricks he knows for treats. He is a Springer Spaniel and so smart. He learned to give me his paw on the 3rd try.

I have two hours 4 of those days between jobs, that gives me time to come home, let the dogs out and take them for their walks. I wouldn't even think about taking them out for walks after dark so this works out perfect for me and for Happy and Bebe. we have no street lights on the route that I walk them, we are semi rural here just a Municipality, many of our streets are gravel, mine happens to be paved.

Today I am taking care of those things around my house that need doing. like washing the kitchen curtains, and my sheets. I will also vacuum and clean the kitchen too. It doesn't take long in my cozy house.

Janet what sad news to hear about Beth and your mother. I do hope they improve even if only a little bit I will pray for them.

Carol sorry your fabric bowls didn't come out the way you wanted them . I don't sew if I don't feel well or am hurting someplace or in a hurry. It never turns out the way it should. Now with my hands hurting so much of the time I have a hard time just holding a book in my hands. My time on the computer is diminishing considerably.

This post is getting too long to include all I want to and my hands are hurting so Hi everyone hope you are all well and healthy. I will write more later.

It was fun last evening.  Great food.  Very, very good Golden Butterfly Shrimp, baked potato with butter and sour cream, salad and fried biscuits with apple butter.  The show was audience participation.  And I was seated on the aisle.  Now there were only 70-80 people there so that wasn't too bad.  But first thing they took three ladies out and put aprons on them that looked like they had bikinis on and taught them to dance a routine.  I am sitting there telling myself, if you are chosen to do something, just do it.  Make the best of it.  Go along with the flow.  I certainly don't like attention brought to me.  I was getting anxious...hoping he would come to me and get over whatever I needed to do.  So then he pulled a lady out of her chair and took her to a gentleman and told them to dance together.  Slow dancing.  After about 5 couples dancing, he came to me.  Okay.  I can do this.  I used to love to slow dance with my husband.  But the M.C. danced with me.  I was so relieved when it was over.  And I really enjoyed the rest of the show since that was over.

It was raining when we left and 35°...just enough for it to still be rain and not sleet.  But Sam drove his own SUV and did very good, except when he looked at the GPS on the dash or his wife in the front seat, the steering wheel turned the SUV to the left.  I didn't like that.  I never saw anyone drive left of the center line as much as Sam!  It was a 77 mile ride on country roads!!  But we made it and all is fine.

Tonight Ivalou and I are going to her minister's home for a Christmas Open House.  That should be fun.  Her minister and his wife and I know a lot of people in common from my church!  And one of their son's best friend is getting married next weekend in my church.

Cold here.  Only 30°.  Not melting the existing snow at all!!

Below you will find a picture of a Christmas Mouse.  Remember marishino (sp) dipped in melted chocolate for the back half.  A Hershey kiss for the head.  Almond slices for the ears.  And decorating gel for the eyes and nose.  Fun!

But would you believe I have never eaten a Christmas Mouse.  I ate some cherries that didn't have any tails though!

Liz

Etta Sue, that mouse is sooo cute!  My, you have such an interesting life....I love reading about all your activities.

Cold here and they mentioned snow on Monday.  Glad it is going to wait, tho' had planned a trip to the 'big' city that day.  Will wait until later in the week.  I went out and bought some powerful battery op. lights for the next disaster....just in case.  Also a little reading light for me and my SIL, we both had a problem with the candles.

I am cooking dinner tonight as we all are going to a 'light up' outdoor, carols, fire, gathering of the neighbors.  My daughter and another couple of ladies got it all arranged and people are most receptive to the idea.  They are also trying to arrange a neighborhood watch program.  It is going to be 'A Lovely Day In The Neighborhood' if they keep at this......

Tonight I am cooking oven baked steak, vegetables, salad and a light lemon pudding.  Still lots of problems with my tummy and it is hard to eat anything without adding to the problem....medicine doesn't seem to help much, so not rushing back to the doctor.  Ah me, the price of being old!  Good thing I really am not fond of food or it would be a really big problem!!!

Glad that you are happy in your new work, Marilyn.  Also, sad to learn that Beth and Janet's mom are not doing well.

Must go now.  Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Liz
