Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Hey!  8)  This has felt like Sunday to me all day.  I will have to find a way to get my days straightened out!

Nita, I am not averse to trying new things; in fact, that's one of the things I enjoy most when we travel, and will try ALMOST anything!  Yep, even guinea pig and alpaca.  ;)  But some of the so-called health foods that have been manipulated by man just do not sound like something one should eat.  Just my opinion, of course, and that is always subject to change, on things not of eternal nature.  So I will take Marilyn's suggestion and try a little chocolate soy milk for starters.

Ruth, glad you had a good Christmas, and will continue to enjoy family time through New Year's Day.

Nita, so happy to hear your sister is "out of the woods" and pray her improvement continues on a rapid pace.

My sister from upstate Kansas and the one from Nebraska were both in town today; along with all of the Nebraska one's family.  So there were 24 members of our family at the care home visiting Mom and Beth this afternoon.  That many people cannot fit in those small rooms, so we used the Sunflower room.  It was good to see them, even for that short while.  My oldest sister and family are in Plains now, for Bro-in-law's mother's funeral tomorrow.  And the other sis and husband will go back to Admire tomorrow.  That's near Emporia, for you map lovers.

Curtis, Toni and Alexis came to see us today.  That's always a treat.  They will return to Albuquerque tomorrow.

I think I have run down now, so adios!

Hi, Smoky!  You came in while I was typing!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I have tried several times today to get on CP without being able to.  It appears it was just me as there have been several postings.

I am afraid the Vicks on the bottom of my feet didn't completely do the trick.  I have a really bad cough and slept last night in my easy chair so that Pat could get some sleep.  It is not really an uncomfortable place to sleep as it is very comfortable and I was nice and warm.  I expect I will have a repeat tonight as have coughed a lot today and really don't feel so great.

The son-in-law of some very good friends apparently had a heart attack coming back from a Christmas party and died.  He was driving and the car hit a subdivision sign and flipped on its side.  Visitation is tonight and Pat is going with other friends and I will not attend with this cough.

Our daughter's back seems to be worse today and she is in misery.  She was able to get an appointment with the doctor tomorrow.  Fortunately the workmen's comp is providing her transportation.  Originally she had called as asked me to come back downtown to pick her up and take her to the appointment and then take her back home.  Riding on a bus and the subway are too painful for her now.

I haven't accomplished much today but did pick up some books from the library, including a new Jan Karon book I had not read about Father Tim.  I really enjoyed the Mitford series that she wrote several years ago.

Jane Walker

Larry, I think CP has been down most of  today.  You are the first one here today!

Good to see you, and hope others will find their way here soon.

Hopefully your cough will improve (or disappear altogether) soon.  I know, from experience, how disruptive that can be to life's events.   :-\

Nita, I didn't get here yesterday for your comments about Faye until your last post that everything seemed to be better -- or at least she seemed "out of the woods"  I'm glad of that, but will continue to pray as she goes through the series of chemo treatments.   <3
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Carol

I see that my long post wasn't in here and it can only be because of something happening just as I hit the POST box - well, it is OK.  It was all about family and Christmas here.

Larry:  Just read that you did catch that awful cold, so sorry.  It is tough to stop it once those germs gather strength.  Your temp is much warmer than us and we have had a snowblast all day long - one that was not predicted for our area, then they said about an inch of snow - oh yeah, it is more likely a foot.  They just can't get it right.  Sorry to learn that your daughter is worse this week with back problems.  It is a tough time of the year for those pains.

It is always sadder around the holidays when we hear of friends loss.

Waiting to hear back from daughter & family who are in Minneapolis area for hockey tournament.  They all flew back this time and that was a good choice as they made it out of the airport in the morning yesterday just before flights cancelled.  More cancellations today.

Someone is starting to clear the sidewalks here - this is better than last year.  Better than us going out and trying to tackle this heavy snowfall.

Carol

Nita

Thanks, Jane.  I'm not sure what's going on. Now they've decided to keep her in intensive care for now, and she won't be doing chemo till later, I guess.  Christy, her daughter, just said they wanted to give her a week to get strong again.

I don't think I'm doing too well with this. :(  I'm trying.

Etta Sue

Larry ~ You were the first to post today.  I tried to get in CP earlier but it wouldn't fully load!  Even tried it on IE since Firefox wouldn't load.  IE didn't work either.

Ivalou and I went to WalMart earlier today.  She wanted some boxes to put her ornaments in.  I needed black socks...thick and thin ones.  My old black socks either had holes in them or runs or so thin you could read a newspaper through them!  And both of us needed Fish Oil capsules!

Then this evening we went back to Noblesville.  This time Aaron went with us.  We all ate at a steak house....mmmmmmm!  it was sooooo good!  Then we went to Meijer's where I bought some lights for my Christmas Tree for next year.  I didn't care for my fiber optic tree...not bright enough.  Then we went to the Barnes and Noble store to look at books.  I have been looking for 'Creatures' by Andrew Zuckerman.  They said they had one.  I had decided if it were $20 or less, I would purchase it.  Well, it was $60 so it is still at the store!  Neat book but not worth $60 for me!

Now it is time to get my feet up and relax.

I tried this morning with the same results, Etta Sue.

Larry, so sorry that old cold caught you in spite of your efforts to head it off.  I am feeling today as if one is trying to get me, too.  Taking Vitamin C and Zinc, don't have any Vicks in the house and forgot to get any when we were at the grocery store earlier.

We drove to Plains and attended the funeral today, in spite of threatening weather.  It was snowing when we came home, predictions are for 2-6 inches of it, but they keep moving the line, so we will see.  I was really glad to get back home safely.

The asassination of Benizar Bhutto today underscores how dangerous our world has become.  Oh, my......... :-\

I think I will take more C and Zinc and put myself to bed, even if it is only 8:05!

Oh, yeah....I bought a quart of chocolate soy milk today.  ;)  Not bad!

Good Evening, I trying to get in this morning, and couldn't so I called Al and he side he would see what he could do. I tried again around 11:30 and all I got was  a big grey blank page..

Any way my afternoon job ended today and my morning job  pick up today, tomorrow we will discuss just how many hours, possibly 5 hours per day. That would be great.

I have a nice  soup going in my crockpot, some beef, some white beans, a can of tomatoes, 1 red bell pepper 4 cloves of garlic, half an onion,  3 carrots,  half teaspoon of cinnamon a teaspoon of  sea salt some fresh ground black pepper and 4 spritzes of Braggs liquid aminos, 1 quart of organic beef broth and 4 cups of H2O. I read that if you eat  one meal of soup per day (dinner or supper) and drink your 8 glasses of water, have your meat protein in the morning it will help you to lose weight. Maybe I will try that.

Hi everyone.  Just back from coffee a the senior center and two trips to Kroger for parsley.  The first time I brought home cilantro rather than curly parsley like my wife wanted for a recipe.  I got it right the second time.

We had rain last night and are to have more today, which is wonderful and needed so much.  It is suppose to rain again on Sunday.  Every little bit helps.  Hope I can stay in the rest of the day.  I may need to drive Pat to the church so she can take a dish for the dinner that the congregational care committee will provide after the funeral this afternoon.

I was able to sleep in bed last night but still have a bad cough and just don't feel very good as the cold is dragging me down.  We all know that feeling, I am sure.

Sarah, I am sure it is very tough to have to be out in the snow helping people.  You would think they would be appreciative.

Marilyn, your soup sounds good.  Hope you get the 5 hours a day that you would like for your morning job.

Janet, don't think the Vicks really helped me very much.  Of course, that is hard to determine as I don't know what it would have been like without it.  You are certainly right about how dangerous our world is now.  We sure don't want nulear devices in the hands of these radical terrorists.

Etta Sue, have you checked on the Internet for the book you are seeking.  There are a number of used book stores and I have been able to purchase quite a few books, which have been in excellent condition, at a very reasonable cost.

Nita, sorry to hear that your sister is still in intensive care and too weak to continue her chemo.  I know you are terribly worried.

Carol, I have been hearing on the news about how much snow you all have and are expected to have.  Sounds like a good time to stay inside.  Sure you will be glad when your family gets back from Minnesota.

Jane, I wasn't very observant to notice I was the first one posting since I hadn't read several of the messages I found waiting from the previous day.  As others did, I tried several times to get into the site but knew it would be back up as soon as possible.

Etta Sue

Good morning!  Not many have posted since yesterday when I posted.  But then it was late.  Now I can't get into SrNet!!!  Maybe CyberSpace took time off for the Christmas/New Year holidays!!

It would be nice to have that book (Creatures by Andrew Zuckerman) to show to the photo guild.  Other than that...naw!  It is all pictures of different creatures with white back grounds.  Some macro of feathers, eyes, feet etc.  Some full views like a chimp posing like a cheesecake chimp.  There is one of a giraffe...just his neck and head but his neck is bending back over his back with his nose straight up.  Really neat shots and he says that none of the pictures are manipulated!  The animals were live on a white background...only 3 feet from the lion!!  Great coffee table book!  Big book--15" x 15" and at least 1.5" thick so probably worth the $60 but not for me.

I finally called Judy, my classmate that had knee replacement Nov 28.  I first asked if she was still talking to me.  If I had called her every time I thought about it, it would have been a couple of times a day!  But it just didn't happen.  But I am glad I called.  I am taking her to therapy next Monday morning.  She is having a hard time in therapy.  Judy doesn't take pain too well even though she will take pain a lot before she gets anything done!!!

Raining in central Indiana with the temperatures above freezing.  A gloomy day.  Since all of TV are reruns, seems like a great day to read a good book!!

My niece, Teresa, got me a yellow lemon scented candle for my bathroom.  I have it on a warmer and the scent is so strong.  I am sure if I have any company, they will be totally confused!!  They will think that it is Lemon Pledge and I have been cleaning house.  Then they will see all the dust and be totally confused as to why I have the lemon smell in my house!!!   ::)  ^-^

Good Morning, Not much new here, Larry I wish I could send you some of our rain. According to the rain gauge on Fran's fence there have been 5 inches of rain in the month of December in McKinleyville. I am taking some of my soup over to Fran and Gil when I go to work in a little while.

Everything is fine here with me, no complaints although I do have a little pain in my left and this morning, (no big thing). I have grown used to the pain after the last 3 years. I have decided NOT to have the Cortisone shot. I do not want steroid injected into my body nor will I take them by mouth. Too any BAD side effects. You should see the long list of them.

Gotta go now.

Hello!  I got a call this morning that my Mom's sister, just younger than her, passed away on Christmas Eve.  Now I have the task of taking the news to her.  :(  The only siblings left now are the eldest (Mom) and the youngest, who is younger than my brother.  It seems a lot of elderly people pass away every winter.

Abby is wanting to come up, so I will go get her later today.  We will go to the movie "American Treasure, Book of Secrets" tonight---her request.  Lucky it is showing here just now!

I must run to the care home, Mom will be going to lunch soon.

Hello:   After lunch I went to the Upper Canada Mall in NewMarket just to see the Christmas Decorating it was sure lovely, while there I met a friend Jackie Lay & Paddy Honey these are names Pat might know.   Then upon arriving home a message on the phone suggested that our son Doug will be stopping by for a short visit it is always nice when the family comes.

Janet: sorry to hear about your mom's sister this will leave a little emptiness I am sure.

Etta Sue:  I tried coping your cat and this time it would not work - another time .

Marilyn:  How expensive is curves is it a pay as you go or do you have to take out a membership? We have curves here but I have never checked them out driving 15 minutes or so to a fitness club as well as other fitness places  is not really to much and yet it is when still working.     I do like my time at home.

Larry:  I hope your cold is getting much better.

Time for me to put the  :kettle: on for tea       Ruth

A sort of gloomy day here, with rain and little light.  I went to the big city yest. and there was a terrible cold wind all day.  Came thro' the Malahat on the way back, heavy rain, then snow, then back to heavy rain.  Glad the snow got left behind.

The stores were not too crowded, small lines.  Of course we seem to have Boxing Day all week now, so no need to rush unless something specific in mind.  I only needed a couple of small things, so it was not a big problem.  Got home to find Wendy ill....she did far too much preparing for Christmas.  Some better today.  I just feel tired!!

Sad that so many have family illness this time of year...or any other time!   Will remember folks in prayer.  I was hopeful about the Vicks on the feet as a cold remedy.  Not so certain now....

Terrible problems in the news.  Benizar Bhutto's death is going to make things worse.  Hardly able to read the news these days, so much sadness and violence.  Even when one tries to shut things out, they still creep into thoughts...rather like this little poem:

'As I was walking up the stair,
I met a man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today.
I wish, I wish, he'd go away.'

Have decided to start listening to my 'Bible on Tape' again, starting Jan.01.  Best defense against the world is a strong offense, using the Word.  Time to go and do some cleaning.  Misty (my cat) is a very messy roomy... ::)

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Ruth here in the states the  NEW member price for Curves is $39.00 a month. You can pay by the month if you so chose. I pay by the month at a different price. I joined in October which is breast cancer month and all I had to do was to show that  I had had a Mammogram  that year. So there was no fee. Wait for a  special to join where there is no membership fee. Sometimes all  you have to do is bring a bag of food for the needy. here are always some special coming up.

Hi Liz I use Vitamin C and Zinc to war off a cold.

Larry yes I did get the 5 hours 5 days per week with my client. I will be working 8-11 AM and 3-5 pm  the split shift is fin with me  since it is not very far from home.

Janet my prayers for your family.

Hi, friends,

I had a great opportunity tonight to have dinner with friends who are so loving and sweet. We ended up talking for about 2 1/2 hours! So, we left good tips for our server. She was quite pleased.

Well, my browser has been updated to IE 7. Wonder how I'll like it? For certain, right now, it's a bit confusing.

It's good to know that Mieka has been able to be in Germany. It's wonderful her employer has so many connections different places.

My son from England will be coming to the States Jan 2. Then, most likely sometime later in the week, he'll be in Nashville! Hooray.

Y'all have a good evening.

Hello Everyone...

Finally I have a few minutes to post and wish you all a wonderful Happy New Year.

I must say that I have some great news.

There's going to be a wedding today in Toronto of Kathleen, my granddaughter and then Paul (my friend from Virginia) and I will start to plan our wedding!  We have no idea yet when it will take place but he's giving me a ring on January 26 in Virginia.  I will be travelling down there to attend a choir concert of the National Christian Choir and this will be a memorable weekend for sure as this was his plan all along to have me choose my ring that weekend.

Here's a photo of us both:

Hi everyone.  It is another chilly and damp day here in Georgia but not cold.  I don't think there will be much rain today but a good chance of some significant rain tomorrow.  Apparently what we got yesterday added over 1 billion gallons to our big lake, not including the run offs that end up in the lake.  Unfortunately, that is about the amount that is released downstream either everyday or every week.

I spent the night in my easy chair again as was coughing and didn't want to keep Pat awake.  I did get a good nights sleep but still not feeling very chipper.  No headcold but this miserable cough and the coughing has strained muscles in my back.  I plan on just staying in the rest of the day and perhaps the weekend.

Pat, my heart sang when I read about the pending engagement and marriage between you and Paul.  That is a great picture of you two.  I hope your family is excited for you on both sides.

Marilyn, glad to read that your job worked out as you had hoped.  I like your schedule as it gives you time to rest during the middle of the day or attend to other errands.

Ruth Ann, good to see your posting.  I am glad that you will be getting to see your son from England.  Are you getting some time off for the holidays?

Al, I hadn't heard or thought of that little poem for years.  My mother used to say that to us when we were children.

LIz, sorry to read that your daughter overdid for the holidays and is now suffering.  Your mention of listening to your Bible tapes reminds me that you can get a daily reading of the Bible from the website for RBC Ministries.  At the bottom of the link for the Oswald Chamblers  http://www.rbc.org/utmost/index.php daily readingis a link to reading the Bible in one year (shown at the bottom of the page) and from that link you can go to the daily passage and listen to it in several versions of the Bible on  the Bible Gateway site.

Ruth, I wish my cold were better also but not sure it is.  However, I know that the passage of time will take care of the problem.  I am just trying to get more rest and not tax myself too much.  Glad you were able to visit with friends.

Janet, saddened to read of your aunt's passing and know it was a difficult thing to have to relay this information to your mother.  I remember having to do that to my mother when her brother passed away and also the call to my aunt in Denver when my mother and father passed away.  A few hours after I called my aunt regarding my mother we had a call back from a cousin saying my aunt's son (my first cousin) had collapsed and died.  He was only in his forties.  That was a terrible day for my poor aunt.  I am sure having Abby around will be a very bright spot in your day and weekend.

Etta Sue, I think maybe we need one of those candles as occasionally there is dust in our house.  It is nice of you to help your classmate get to her physical therapy.  You are always doing nice things for people as I am sure many of our CP folks do.

I see I have written a book this morning but don't feel rushed.  Hope all have a nice weekend.  I will be watching a bit of football, both college bowl games and the pro games this weekend and early next week.

Etta Sue

Congratulations, Pat and Paul!  I know your future together will be bright.  You made my heart smile with your news!  I think it is wonderful news.  The only better news would be if I were telling it for myself!!   ^-^ ^-^  Be sure to keep us updated with your plans...where you will live...when the wedding is taken place and where...you know...all the things we are longing to hear!

Another gloomy day in central Indiana.  Colder..only to get to 35° today.  Nice day to finish a book and just vegetate!

BTW, can any of you get into SrNet?  I couldn't all day yesterday nor today.

Etta Sue I got an email from SN yesterday that said it may be  a few days or even weeks before SN got fixed.

I received this from a friend

Love is not that tender stuff
In cuddles and embrace
Love is but that tough stuff
That brings tears on your face.
Love is not that kissing stuff
When all seems well
Love is that rough stuff
That makes you feel like hell.
Love is not that melting stuff
Like in a frying pan
Love is that hot stuff
Burning if it can.
Love is not that rosy stuff
Nor is it sweet
Love is painful stuff
That knocks you off your feet.
But love is agony stuff
Jesus proves that way
He died that we might live
Through His love today!

This was in the Caregiver Quarterly Newsletter

"Star Caregiver

Our Star Caregiver spotlight shines on Marilyn Fisher this quarter. Marilyn has been a caregiver for 10 years and has been on the Caregiver Registry since the summer of 2003.
Marilyn began her career in caregiving when she was living in the San Bernardino area. Her friend encouraged her to give it a try and Marilyn felt as if she had been "called to caregiving." Marilyn really enjoys working with the people she cares for. She loves the stories that they share and just taking good care of them.
The wisdom that Marilyn would like to share with new caregivers, or folks considering caregiving as a profession is, "always listen to your client, be observant and do your best to meet their needs." But above all, Marilyn reminds us that "it's all about them."
When Marilyn isn't providing care for humans, she likes to care for "Happy," her Border Collie and "Bebe" her Staffordshire Terrier/Pit-bull. She cares so greatly for her dogs that in addition to walking them and brushing them, she actually cooks for them too!
Marilyn is also very active in her church as a greeter, coffee-maker, Power Point Presenter and Sunday School Secretary.
Caregiver Services is proud to have Marilyn on the registry, and we congratulate her fabulous efforts as a Caregiver.
