Thank you for the welcome.  I have used the forum before, but my digital camera is so old that it records its images onto a floppy disk - I no longer have a floppy disk drive.  Fortunately I have saved some money up and have enough to buy a new Nikon D60.  It should arrive in a fortnight or so.  I look forward to learning how to use it and know no-one will mind if the efforts look useless.
