JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Trial and Denial
Matthew 26:69-75 NLT

Meanwhile, Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard. A servant girl came over and said to him, "You were one of those with Jesus the Galilean."

But Peter denied it in front of everyone. "I don't know what you're talking about," he said.

Later, out by the gate, another servant girl noticed him and said to those standing around, "This man was with Jesus of Nazareth."

Again Peter denied it, this time with an oath. "I don't even know the man," he said.

A little later some of the other bystanders came over to Peter and said, "You must be one of them; we can tell by your Galilean accent."

Peter swore, "A curse on me if I'm lying—I don't know the man!" And immediately the rooster crowed.

Suddenly, Jesus' words flashed through Peter's mind: "Before the rooster crows, you will deny three times that you even know me." And he went away, weeping bitterly.

In what ways has being a follower of Jesus complicated your life?

There were three stages of Peter's denial.  First, he acted confused and tried to divert attention from himself by changing the subject.  Second, he vehemently denied Jesus.  Third, he denied Jesus with an oath.

Believers who deny Christ often begin doing so by subtly pretending  not to know him.  When opportunities to discuss religious issues come up, they walk away or pretend they don't know the answers.  With only a little more pressure, they can be induced to flatly deny their relationship with Christ.

If you find yourself subtly avoiding occasions to talk about Christ, watch out.  You may be on the road to denying him.

Hi everyone.  Another hot day in Georgia.

Pat and I both drove to church this morning as I wanted to go early for a run through of the anthem with the choir director since I missed choir practice on Wednesday night.  It was something we did several years ago and not very difficult so that was enough to bring me up to date with the group rehearsal before the service.

Following church the group went to a buffet for lunch.  I came home and rested for an hour and now it is already 4 pm.

I have to tell you about my iPod as worked more on it yesterday and last evening and it is an amazing device.  There is a a free application for mobile Kindle.  Amazon offers a new book every week or so that is free but a lot of public domain books.  I downloaded four books, and they downloaded almost instantly. The books are easy to read on the iPod.  I also have another eReader app that is free where you can access many public domain books and I downloaded 20 books in a brief period of time.  Now whether I ever read them is another matter.  I also downloaded and audio book from the library and that went very smoothly.

This morning I found a paid application ($5) that allows me to upload documents and spreadsheets to a site and then sign in to that site on my iPod and download the documents to be stored on the iPod.  It worked beautifully and these can be read whether you are online or not and was just what I wanted.

Etta Sue, sounds like you had a great party and a good turnout.

Judy, I love homemade bread.  It sounds like you do a lot of canning and food storage.

Janet, that should quite a scrapbook.  Glad you got to visit your kids.

Jane, it sounds like you almost overdid your yard work.  Glad your neighbor helped you.  The foliage can really grow quickly.

Marilyn, it sounds like you have a busy medical schedule ahead.

Ruth

Lots of rain, in fact we had a thunderstorm to add to the mix.

I have been around but reading only as I have lots on my mind.

Judy and the others we had blueberry pancakes with or without true maple syrup for brunch.

Dinner this evening which will be soon will be left over pork roast and BBQ chicken breast and veg.

Later this evening I expect that we will be joining our daughter and partner for coffee as it is his Birthday.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Hello from Buffalo, Wyoming!  Yes, there is such a place and it is a really nice town with very friendly people.  There is a rodeo going on here at present and you should see the hundreds of horses!  We had to leave today because of appointments on Tuesday so this is another Sunday on the road.  Lovely drive through Montana and into Wyoming - we are so blessed to be able to drive to visit and see the sights and all is well.  We are at a Motel 6 tonight with about 400 miles to go tomorrow - then run right away for groceries I am sure as that is always my job.

Larry:  I may have to ask you more questions on the I-Pod.  We have one along but don't have the ear plugs (forgot) and the library books were loaded but they have been deleted by now.  Do you mean you have a Kindle book?  Ours is only audio.  I need a lesson or more.

Oh, at our meal tonight - a lot of cowboys came to dinner at the same place and half wore their hats and the other half took off their hats.  There were some friendly bikers with lots of tatoos too and everyone just accepts everyone as they are - lovely to see.

Janet:  Congrats on your spelling bee.

Morning Everyone :) :coffee:

Nothing going on here...The weather was up in the 90's yesterday...We've had cool summer days-quite unusual...so when it came--phew...

Today and the next will be in 90's, too...Feels like summer now...I think it left us baffled cos of the coolness-right around the corner is fall...then winter...which I have to not think about or I'll feel desperate...  ;D

Any ways hope your day goes smooth and is blessed by the Lord God Almighty!!!  :)

p.s. got a little confused as to which "thought for the week" 'day' it is so I want by the date last posted-hope I got it right :-\ :D
God's Word is truth, You can trust and believe what he says more than any human word!!!--"Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him;I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call upon me, and I will answer him;I will be with him in trouble,I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation."

Hi everyone.  Not long since I last posted but I have a busy day ahead and may not get back here until tomorrow.

After coffee and walking this morning, I have to go to the credit union and then am meeting our daughter at Rooms to Go.  She is buying a chair called the "Human Touch" which hopefully will give her some relief from the constant pain she is in.  One of its unique features is that it is designed to massage the feet and legs as well as the back and neck.  It isn't cheap but will be well worth the price if it helps her to find some relief.

I have to get back out here to attend my men's luncheon at 1 pm so the timing will be tight today.

Carol, the iPod Touch has a wonderful screen on it.  I think it works like the iPhone but doesn't have the phone feature.  There are many paid and free applications for the iPhone/iTouch devices.  One of them is the Kindle Reader.  When you sign on with your Amazon account it can sync with Amazon when you buy a book or select one of their free ones.  You then can read the book.  It doesn't speak the book to you like the 2nd generation Kindle Reader.  The downloads are really fast.

Juanita, like your area we also are going to be very hot by late afternoon.  I feel for the kids as they are starting school today and will have to ride the buses.  I think all of the schools here are air-conditioned.  There are a number of brand new schools opening in our county, including at least 3 in our local area.  We have the largest school system in the nation with over a $2 Billion dollar budget but they are still struggling, like everyone else, during these hard times.

Hi Ruth.  I love blueberry pancakes but prefer sugar free syrup.

Time to start the running for the day.

Etta Sue

Thanks, Juanita.  I think I forgot to 'sticky' and 'lock' which means nothing to you but it does to us moderators.

I am taking Barb to the hospital this morning for her to get another shot in her back for back pain.

Then I hope to mow the grass which doesn't look like it will be done since it is cloudy out.  Then tonight is Photo Guild.

Busy day!

I read here yesterday but didn't post.  The church dinner was cancelled because the pastor went to Wichita by ambulance the night before.  He has shingles on his face, and his blood pressure was up, so they got in a panic about it.

Since we didn't have the dinner, I had a nice coconut pie and cucumbers to take to Diane's for supper.  :)

I finished Beth's scrapbook, took it to her this afternoon.  She was pleased.  All of her nurses and some other personnel at the home are helping me plan Beth's birthday party.  That will make my work easier, for sure!  And the kitchen will supply the ingredients and make the punch!

I need to go get me some supper.  Darrel made it and has already eaten while I have been on the computer.

Well the canning is going full steam ahead.  17 quarts of stewed tomatoes, another basket of peaches to preserve as well as beans out of the garden.  It has been a busy day, but very rewarding.

The girls went swimming and a friend joined them.  She is a strong swimmer so she went with Kassie across the river.  This has been something Kass has wanted to do for a few years now.  I insisted that she have a life jacket on, and that was good.  She had trouble getting back and we would have had to send out a rescue team.  Thankfully there are lots of boats around and here in the north no one would have said a word if we had grabbed one to go get her.

At last summer is here.  It is really warm and humid.  I don't complain about this kind of weather, I prefer this to the cold any day.

John is still home, he won't be going back at least till the end of September.  It is going to be a long haul.

Must run We want to get to bed earlier tonight.  Both of us are tired.

Have a good night everyone.

Once again last evening was spent ohhhhing and ahhhhing at the beautiful photos from members of Killbuck Photo Guild.  There were close to 100 prints, slides and digitals.  Wish I could take all of you with me sometime!

This morning I have a visit with my doctor.  She is leaving Noblesville the last of the month.  So I will have to break in a new doctor when one comes to take her place.,  I am hoping the new doc is a female.    Sorry guys, but they tend to be more caring...you are not just a patient!  This visit is a follow up from my blood work last week.  And to get a new RX for my cholesterol meds.

Looks like a cloudy day and maybe some thunderstorms.  If it is raining when I leave the doctor's office, I will come right back home.  If not, I may go gallivanting around Walmart or some other such store!

Kitty and Bob are going to St. Louis so I am cat sitting today and tomorrow so I will be going there this evening.

Mornin Folks Just thought I would take a moment to say Hi before the day gets going. Judy has lots more canning to do today and I can sit on a chair with my leg up and help with some of the food prep that needs to be done, This restricted activity gets frustrating at times but the good thing is I can still do some things to help out.  I feel a little bit like a squirrel putting away stores for the winter season. Been reading through the posts this morning and it looks like many of you are busy with all kinds of different things. Looks like your having fun experimenting with your IPOD Larry. Those e;electronic gadgets can be interesting but at the same time I often find them exasperating as I don't have much patience with such things. Anyway going to run for now. Have some breakfast and see what new adventure this day will bring.  Blessings Bonesy

Good Morning from the proposed State of Jefferson. The day looks to be another beautiful day here.
I went yesterday to get the injection in my hand and  today it feels great, there was some pain this morning until I took one of the anti inflammatory pills the Dr gave me on Monday. Hallelujah!!!!! I will soon be pain free. It takes about 3 days for the full effect to kick in, I am also able to get  more movement and hold things  between my thumb and forefinger now.

Just checking in - we had our cell phone fixed for $50 and went to the post office then loaded up with groceries.  All of this plus neighbors visiting and other things made me feel a little weak for some reason so I am sitting down and eating grapes for sugar.  Next will be tea and relaxing for awhile.  O, I did walk one hour today.

Bonesy:  You really can learn anything if the teaching is simple language.  If I can learn it, anyone can!  I remember having to use area codes on the phone & zip codes for mail and that was totally annoying to say the least.  Well, you are doing the right thing in keeping off your leg - I used to can in the fall from the garden but never huge batches.

JudyB

Well I have all the tomatoes done.  With the left over juice from the tomatoes I made soup.  Thick enough that it can be watered down or used as a base for a vegetable soup.  We are caught up with the beans and peas. Thank goodness.  There will be more to do tomorrow though.  I went to the local feed store where we get our bird feed and asked if they can get the rest of the produce that I want to put down.  They can at a better price.

We have summer here at last.  I have to go out and mow before nightfall.  That will be a nice break from the hot stove.

Carol I have been following your travels and problems.  I haven't commented, but you have been prayed for.

The other needs have been held up in prayer as well.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is again very hot here in Georgia.  It will soon be dark and it is still 90 degrees.  I don't know where the day has gone but the time really seems to fly by.  I had a meeting this morning that I was responsible for the program and I was late getting back home.  Rested, as usual, after lunch and then completed a couple of computer projects and worked some more on my iPod Touch.  Today I added a new program that allows me to access my music library that I have in ITunes without having to have the music files actually on my iPod as long as I have a wireless connection.  I have tried it out and it works beautifully. I also ordered a case for it so I can carry it attached to my belt as I do my cell phone.

Bonesy, sorry to read that you are going to be laid up for several weeks.

Be back tomorrow.

Ruth

Judy:   How areas differ, our peas were ready a few weeks ago and our beans are just coming, and again our tomatoes are not ready but they are coming. As for the beans I think that I will go to a local gardener to top off what I need.  The fruit strawberries, raspberries, peaches and blueberries I froze.

We had rain yet again and a thunderstorm that put our hydro out for several hours, dinner was on the BBQ. Looking around our neighbors did the same.

I have had yard goods in the house to make kitchen curtains, wondering what to do with no hydro I did my measuring and cutting needless to say the seams will not take very long to do tomorrow.

John:  Have you found out what is at the root of your health problems?
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Janet

It sounds as though everyone is busy with summer projects.  I really wish we had tomatoes and peaches (and any other fruit!) to put up, but we haven't had a single ripe tomato yet, the fruit all froze (that is, the blooms did), so we won't be doing any food preservation this summer.

We did get started again on getting Beth's trailer cleaned out.  Goodness, that girl has so much STUFF.  We hardly made a dent, but did get most of the stuff out of the kitchen.  We have moved all our 8 ft. tables up to the big garage so we can put stuff on them, and will schedule an auction for early September, I think.

A long-time friend and fellow church member passed away Sunday, so we will attend his service in the morning.

Carol, are you back home now?

Etta Sue, good luck on finding another doctor you like.  I dislike having to change doctors;  but then, I go to one maybe once a year.

Those prophecy shows I enjoy are on tonight, so I'm going to shut down and go in the bedroom to watch them, as Darrel is watching NCIS in here.

Ruth, good to see your post!
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

JudyB

I have had it for the night.  We have watched NCIS and John is watching Flashpoint.  I think I will take my book and head off to bed and read for a bit.

In answer the question about John's health.  We are fighting with the insurance company about the Compression Stockings.  First they didn't think they were covered, then they said they were.  Now the computer system has been down for two days, and no one has an official answer. :ticked:  :ticked: we cannot order them till the estimate has been approved.
The cause of the leg swelling and discolouration????? There is no answer yet.  His next appointment with the Doctor is September 25th!!   :clobber:   :clobber:  He cannot go back to work until the doctor clears him so we continue to play the waiting game.

Ruth how is Alan?
Pat How are Norm and Judy?  and Geordie?
Know that I am continuing to pray for the needs here.

Jeannine

I know it's been awhile since I was in, sorry bout that, been difficult dealing with Michael's passing. But I would like to ask prayers for Colin and his family, his mum is in the hospital and is dying, please pray for them!

John and Judy, want me to send John a pair of my compression stockings?  I don't think I could have made it through those eight weeks at the hospital without them, they are wonderful.  September 25th?  YIKES!!  See what we Americans have to look forward to, if Obama has his way?? :yikes:

I have achiropractorappointment at 8:15, then that funeral is at 10.  I will barely have time tocome home and change and put on some makeup.  No use putting any on before I go get my face pushed into the table.  ;)

I hope everyone has a good, Godly and profitable day.  Hello to all!  :)

I see Jeannine's post now, and good to see you back.  I will include Colin and his family in my prayers.  I love his poetry!

We had the bedroom shades all the way open last night and tried to stay awake to watch the meteor shower - fell asleep and missed all.  Don didn't care but I was trying.

Jeannine:  My heart goes out to you.  I cannot imagine what you are enduring.  Just by reading your short note, you must know that so many are thinking of you and saying a prayer.  Thank you for the note on Colin.

Janet:  Home now - Don has an ENT specialist meeting tomorrow and he wants me to go with him.

Ruth:  Hydro must mean hydroelectric power - sorry for the outages as that can stop so many things.

Hi Larry:  You can stop in and help me with my I-Pod.

Al Moak

Father, I pray for Don's visit to the ENT specialist.  I pray You'll give this man true insight into the problem, and enable him to arrive at a good solution to it.  I just pray Your healing touch to be applied to Don's situation through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Good morning.  Quite cool here in Indiana.  Only 61 degrees and foggy.  The fog has lifted some but it is highly overcasted.  Suppose to become sunny before the day is out.

Good to see Jeanine back.  Come back more often!  Prayers are for Colin and his family.  And everyone else!

Today is Red Hats and I am leaving in a half hour.  Not dressed yet.
We are going to Greenfield to Mozzi's Pizza.  It is a pizza buffet and the whole place is geared to Basketball!  Fun place.

I got good numbers yesterday at the doctor's office.  Also two pre-cancerous places frozen.  Ouch!  That hurts!

JudyB

Carol you got an appointment right away???  Here we have to wait a minimum of 6 months... more likely 9 - 12 months. That is wonderful for you.  I pray the Doctor is able to know how to treat the problem.

Praying for Colin and his family.

Well we are back to picking in the garden.  I have little time for the computer.  will be back tonight!

Ruth

Carol:   Yes I would think that the other name for hydro would be hydroelectric power, in times past it would be given a name in accordance to the community you lived in and in some areas it still is I think.

I have just finished doing the monthly bills and now we will be going to visit a friend in Orangeville, Ontario (a 40 min drive north & west of us.)

Judy:  I have found that a doctors slowness starts with the family Dr's office then once you do get a specialist appointment I have then called them to see if there is something earlier  and it has most often worked.

Another thing if you have not been to see a spec. in over a year you have to start over with the family Dr. (not gov. but spec. thing),  This waiting game started Aug.6th with the family Dr. and once I get the Spec. appointment the problem will be taken care of in 3-4 weeks at least that is what took place 3 1/2 yrs ago. (office visit plus surgery)

Another example I called yet another spec.(different checkup) for an appointment whom I had not been to for over 3 years and got an appointment for the 3lst of Aug. this happened yesterday.

If their reason works they will use it.

Judy:  About Allan somedays he looks good other times not so good but I guess that is what cancer will do.  Along with the Chemo. he will be having 5 radiation treatments starting the 24th of this month.

Enough talking. I must get paper work filed then get ready to leave.

Jeannine:   Good to see you again.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It has been a cloudy and cooler day today.  We did have some rain this morning and think we might get more later.  Pat and I went to Bible study this morning, then to coffee at the donut place and finally Pat and I went to a place we like and had lunch (so won't need any dinner).  Tonight I have choir practice.

I found that my iPod Touch worked at the donut shop and when we stopped at the library.  I sent an e-mail while we were at the donut place.

Jeannine, good to see you posting and can certainly understand why we haven't seen much of you.  So sorry to hear of the illness of Colin mother.

Janet, it sounds like you have a big job ahead of you with Beth's trailer.  I know that closing down any household is tough.  I well remember when we were getting my folks things ready for auction and that it was not a pleasant experience to be at the auction.  However, we have to do what has to be done.

Carol, what type of iPod do you have?  I am learning things about the Touch everyday and using iTunes.  Last evening I played some streaming videos and audio things.

Judy, those delays in getting the medical attention that is needed are really something.  I agree with Janet in being very worried that we are headed to the same place.  Our Congressmen are home on August recess and having townhall meetings and apparently are really getting an earful from their constituents.  A lot of American citizens are very concerned about where our country is headed and how far it has gone in such a short time.

Ruth, it sounds like you made good use of your time while the hydro was off.

Janet

We didn't accomplish much of anything today, as it was so hot when we got home after the funeral and lunch.  Maybe tomorrow..........

I had my days mixed up last evening, so it is tonight those programs are on!  :)
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

JudyB

What a wonderful afternoon/evening we have had.  Everyone pitched in early and we had the nit of canning done quickly.  So I surprised everyone and we went to the lake swimming for a couple of hours,  It was a refreshing break for all of us.  Tomorrow I am into baking zucchini bread for the freezer.  That will be more work initially but easier this winter, when we need it we will have it.  I may do the same with carrot bread.

Janet I thought today was Friday.... I understand getting days mixed up.  We are going from day to day and easily forget.  Tomorrow Elizabeth has her volunteer time at the food bank.  Then a fund raiser on Saturday for the food bank.

There is supposed to be a meteor show tonight so the girls are sleeping out.  I wonder how they will make out if the coyotes start up again tonight?  The door will be unlocked if they get too scared.

Well night all will be back tomorrow.

JohnB

Hi Folks Was just outside to see if the meteor show had started yet but was not able to see it yet. It is crystal clear in the sky tonight and the stars are shining brightly. That's one thing about living here in the north. The night skies are often beautiful when they are clear. Can stand outside and pick out many of the galaxies as there is no artificial lighting interfering with the view. We have also at times seen some beautiful light shows from the northern lights where the sun reflects off the arctic ice cap. The northern lights will put on a great display of colour due to the prism effect of the ice. Been a more relaxing day today and looking forward to see what tomorrow has in store. Every day is an adventure of some kind up here. Sometimes it's the wild life other times it"s other things. We have a lot of wild life up here like the night a month or so ago when we had a moose about 500 feet behind our back door and the dogs got all excited about that. Deer roam our land in abundance, as well as bear, coyotes, wolves, porcupines etc. Most don't get to close to the house because of the dogs. However last summer our next door neighbor did have a black bear break into their house while they were out looking for food and ransacked the kitchen. But they don't have a dog to deter such things. Some of the joys and tribulations of living in the north, but I wouldn't trade it for anything a city has to offer. One thing about living up here is when I get off the road from a week of driving my truck I can sit in my back yard and not hear a sound except the birds maybe or an occasional farm tractor. We never hear the hum of cars and trucks traveling on the highways. Now that's what you call peaceful. God has given us a great universe to live in and all to often we take it all for granted, when we should be on our knees thanking Him and praising Him for our many blessings. Well I guess that's about it for my ramblings for tonight. Hope some off you enjoy my musings. Be back tomorrow.Night all and may God richly bless each and every one of you. Bonesy

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I will get the postings started for this Thursday.

I thought my calendar was clear but last evening Pat asked me to go with her to Sam's Club to get somethings.  Her foot is very painful again and her knee is bothering her so she will use one of the electric carts to get around the big store and I will be her arms when she can't reach what she wants.  We need to stock up on a number of items.

We had a good choir practice last evening with most of the members in attendance.  I really enjoy singing in the choir.

Bonesy, I enjoy your thoughts regarding living where you do.  Where I live we can seldom even see the starts as there are street lights and other commercial lighting around.  I do remember growing up on the farm and how dark a night could be and then how the moon and starts would light up the night sky.

Judy, you all must have a really large freezer.  I know you must have some really delightful things on your dinner table from all of your efforts of canning and freezing foods.

Janet, its ok to not accomplish much in a day.  I am sure you got done what had to be done and the rest will wait.  Hope you took the time to do something enjoyable for yourself or getting a little extra rest.
