JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Grrrr!  I bought a new wireless N router.  I was told it has farther distance.  I got it all hooked up and it works fine here in my house but 82 of my steps away, it doesn't work!  Grrrr!  The box says I may need a Wireless N USB Adapter.  Not going back to Frye's.  Maybe Best Buy has one.  Grrr!

The home evaluation went well.  We need some non-skid strips on the ramp...it was wet this morning and Michelle said it was a little slick on the ramp.  I helped Ivalou do the transferring from her chair to her bed, her chair to the commode, her chair to her glider rocker.  And all of them back to her chair.  Right now, I feel overwhelmed by it all.  Not enough days to do what needs to be done before she comes home.  I have to get groceries in...that's for sure.  With in-home therapy, I am not to take her out to eat.  Only to doctor appointments.

Jo is coming this weekend and she should be here around 6:30 this evening.  I am going with her to the hospital.  I have Ivalou's clothes all clean.

I imagine all of you heard of the explosion on the interstate in Indianapolis.  Kitty and I got in the traffic resulting from the interstate being closed last evening.  It will take awhile before the commuters find their way without the interstate.  And they said it will take weeks to repair the overpass!!
  Pictures.

It is trying to be sunny but the west horizon is dark and dreary...Menacing clouds.  And all the leaves are about off my old Maple out front!

Etta Sue, I can only imagine how these preparations and changes, involved in Ivalou's homecoming, will effect your own life.  I know you will be there every moment possible for her, but it will also take a toll.  I'll pray for strength for all concerned.  It's truly wonderful how she is progressing so well and rapidly.

About the explosion ... I hadn't heard about it.  What exactly happened?  Looks like it involved some cars as well.  What a terrible thing!  Were there injuries?  I've driven around Indianapolis a couple times, and been a passenger in my sister's car a couple of other times ... It sure will be an adjustment for people trying to navigate their routes differently.  :-\
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Ruth

Etta Sue:   That sure was an explosion what happened.

Al:   How is your wife?

Janet:  Have you been to your spelling bee yet?

I have had a stressful several days, but for now things appear to be improved.  It seems that I was out all day doing errands I went to 3 different towns all in a big circle but the farthest away was 40 minutes I did get all the items I went for so that is good I drove through fog & rain but now I am home relaxing.  Mel is away for a few days and soon I need to give him a call as well.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Hi everyone from Iowa.  It has been rainy and a bit of snow since we got here but this morning the sun is out so should be a nice day.  We were busy yesterday and I didn't get a chance to stop by.  I have been working on my sister's computer, which is extremely slow and installing a new printer and webcam.  She has only 256 megs of RAM and it runs like it isn't running at all.  Sure takes a lot of patience to work on it.  I did a system restore to see if I could speed it up but no luck.

Don't know what is on the schedule for today.  Good to see all of the postings.  Hope Ivalou does well with her home visit.

Thanks for asking Ruth.  Marbeth is in the county mental health facility as of right now.  It could be several days to a week before adequate improvement.  Please pray for her and for me.  I'm supposed to preach Sunday - need God's grace for that.

Janet

Wow, Etta Sue!  That was some explosion!  Just shows what only a moment's inattentive driving can cause, and the inconvenience to untold other people for many hours afterward.  Was the truck driver killed?  It doesn't look as if he could have possible survived.  Thanks for sharing the pictures.  Glad the preparations are coming along well for Ivalou's homecoming; I know she will be so happy to be home.

Hi, Ruth!  Yes, I have been to the state spelling bee.  I did well, and will progress to the National Senior Spelling Bee in Cheyenne, Wyoming, next summer.  Yesterday I gave the people at our Senior center a little test of only 10 of the words we had; and nobody got them all correct.  ;)  It was fun, and just to give them a little idea of the words we were given to spell.  I cannot imagine going to three towns, and the farthest being only 40 imnutes away--out here, the towns are far-flung!  We have to go 60 miles to the nearest Wal*Mart!  So you are blessed in that way, at least.

Hi there, Jane!  What's new at your end of the swamp?   :)

Al, prayers are still going upward for you and Marbeth.  I cannot imagine the stress you are under at this time.  But God is still (and always) the answer.

Larry, good to know you made it to Iowa all right, hope you have a wonderful visit and get plenty of rest while there.

I have had a few days of doing not much, and am ready to work again, but can't decide what I want to start on yet.  Hmmmmm..........

Here is a map of the intersection where the gas tank exploded.  Once there zoom out until the legend show 1200 feet.  The driver was driving from Exit 0 to Exit 37.  The big loop is an overpass.  He must have been going too fast and overturned close to Exit 37A.  Part of the truck stayed on the over pass and part of it fell down where the railroad tracks are.  NO DEATHS!  A good Samaritan broke the windshield on the tanker truck and pulled the driver out.  Then it exploded.  The driver was taken to the hospital but released.  Other cars had to back up because the heat was so intense.  But amazingly, no deaths and the truck driver had minor injuries.  The overpass is damaged structurely, some cars the paint was melted, the microwave tower was scorched and the billboard was scorched.  All the interstate is open west bound but south/east bound will be closed for weeks!

Ivalou's daughter, Jo, came from Ohio last evening and I rode with her to Ivalou's.  We didn't leave until midnight!  Ivalou will be so sleepy today but she said she didn't have to 'work' on Saturday and Sunday so it was okay.  She said she had fun!  Today I went over to Ivalou's to see what needed to be purchased for groceries and paper items.  I will do that Monday afternoon.  Tomorrow I plan to get my Adapter to get internet at Ivalou's house and a cordless answering machine telephone with two handsets at WalMart for Ivalou.

It all seems better today.  It takes time for me to organize everything in my head and then I can see that I can do this!

Thanks for all the prayers.

My goodness, it's been a long time since noon, about the time of the last post. I'm doing a bit better. As I told my daughter in law this afternoon, the depression's been deep enough that I was reaching up 'way high to try to touch the underside of "the bucket."

At any rate, God answered prayers and my feelings tonight are much better than for the last 2 weeks.

Al, I am praying for both you and Marbeth.

Larry, any chance that her computer would accept a memory upgrade? I hope so. Mine was running extremely slowly and the last time I had it worked on, I asked them if they thought extra memory would be helpful. Their response was that I had BARELY enough memory to operate, and so I approved additional memory. Surely has made a big difference.

Paul, sorry I missed your birthday. So, my best to you for each day remaining in your new year. God be with you always.
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Well, we arrived back in Falls Church this evening very tired.

Lots to do in the coming week in this house.  Seems never-ending.  But I'm sure it will be over soon and the house can go on the market.

Alan, I'm wondering about Marbeth.

This certainly has  been a very slow week of posts in our "Thoughts for the Week" hasn't it.  It's too bad that when we're in Winchester, we don't have internet as yet.

Ruth Ann, I am so glad your world is looking brighter now.  I went through a season of depression some years back, and it is just indescribably hard.  I am praying for you, my friend.  {{{{{{hugs}}}}}}

Etta Sue, I had to chuckle about Ivalou's not having to work on the weekend.  She is so blessed having you as a sister, and even having you living next door!  Blessings to you both.  I'm glad the truck driver wasn't killed in that accident.  His guardian angels must have been really alert that day!  (They always are.)

I decided to do a detailed cleaning of my car (the PT Cruiser) yesterday afternoon, so spent two hours vacuuming, washing and cleaning every inch of the inside of it.  Now when we go to Hugoton it will visit the Squeaky Clean Car Wash and be just as clean on the outside!  We have a car wash here, or two, but Jeff gives us tokens for his!  ;)

Last evening, we went out past the Cimarron River to the home of some friends from Church.  They were hosting a family fun night out there.  It is so peaceful there, and pretty, too, earlier in the season.  We had hay rides (we hadn't done that in years!), a huge bonfire where we roasted weiners and later marshmallows for s'mores.  We also had baked beans (I made those), potato chips, etc.  Then a couple played their guitars and we sang around the fire.  It started at 4 and by 8 it was getting so cold we decided to come on home.  Fun evening, though, and a fairly good attendance.

Pat, we are going to have to figure out some way to get you internet access at the new house!!  You just can't be without it!

I forgot to take my Melatonin last night, so woke up just after four and couldn't go back to sleep.  Probably I will get sleepy during the sermon at church..... :-[

I wish you all God's blessings today!
