Good morning all!

Its quite chipper here in NE OH...The stormy winds blew yesterday afternoon, the day began warm we had a high of 50 or so, then as the evening came it all got cold, 16 F early this morning, and 22 for the high today! Woohoo here comes the beginning of winter!!! I think this where the freeze will begin...I'll be hibernating. Probably won't do too much photography til I meet it head on!!!

I was surprised to see that its a cold 25 for coastal Oregon. Thats where i'm from originally so I keep an eye for that. My niece who lives in Roseburg had 18 degrees yesterday, I think thats unusual, too.

It's great to see everyone's doing well! and want to say  Welcome to the new Baby!!! :excited: :hb2: :dogrun:

Hope you all have a warm Blessed day!!!

Brrrr!  It's only 9°!!!!  I have already taken the trash out and went home.  I didn't have wireless so I went home and turned off the modem and unplugged the wireless.  Then turned it back on and plugged it back in.  Now I am good to go!

We didn't go to WalMart yesterday.  As soon as the physical therapist left we had a white out.  I checked the weather online and it said snow all afternoon and getting colder.  It sure enough did.  But there really isn't much snow...I think the wind blew the snow to Michigan or Ohio!!

Pat ~ Are you in Guelph or in Virginia?  I saw you have snow in Virginia and Paul posted pictures of the snow and the house on S&F.  It is hard to tell where you are by the posts.

I read on Facebook that Nita has frozen pipes.  Sure hope they haven't burst.  I told her to open up faucets so there wouldn't be any pressure.  That might help!

Today is Class of 1960 luncheon.  I guess I will go to it if I can get cleaned up to go.  Better get to my house!  Will definitely have to dry my hair before going out in this cold!

Ivalou is still improving but not helping much with cooking and such.  Still relying on me for that.  She is suppose to do laundry.  I haven't offered to do that but asked her if she needs any done.  We will see.  I love helping her but it sure would be nice to be home, too.

Janet

Congratulations, Grandpa Paul!!  From now on, all of my grandkids will have 'great' as a prefix.  Welcome, baby Collin!

It's really cold here again today.  23* inside the garage!  The cat and dog are very happy to be in the house this morning!

I need to get a few more things done for Christmas.  I just ordered two items for grandson Mark online:  A cookbook and a silicone steamer.  He likes to cook and is good at it, which is a blessing, since he is still single.  This is our pilot.

Larry, it sounds like you have been progressing nicely on getting stuff done.  Please don't overdo it.  I was so aggravated at Walmart in Garden City the other day.  I was looking for some Nut Thins crackers, couldn't find them, walked several blocks in the grocery section, finally found an employee and asked; and she couldn't speak English.  >:(  When I finally found the cracker aisle, they didn't have them there.  I told Pat later that I might have to pay a little more here at home, but at least if I can't find something, I can ask anyone in the store and be answered in English, and they will help me find them.  I had the same thing happen in Target, two clerks I asked couldn't speak English well enough to understand them.  I know those are jobs Americans will do if hired!

Anyway, I am going to work out soon, then will try to get busy.  I was sidetracked too much yesterday.

My granddaughter-in-law is graduating from college this weekend.  Diane is having a reception for her on Sunday afternoon.  I need to do some things to help out with that.

The gals from church are having a little party tomorrow night, and we are to bring a finger food and an ornament or small gift to exchange, so I need to get those things.  Always another thing, isn't there?

Well, I'd better quit typing and start DOING.

Good Morning; Juanita it is 25° at this moment. The grass has ice in it and all my animals are inside.

I have to bake a cake today and I will probable start making cookie dough and sorting out the cookie cutters. I also need to make more fudge but will not do that until later as we just about finished the batch I made over the weekend. I should say  I almost finished it.

Well, Marilyn, you're "warmer" than it is up here on the hill.  Only 19° here!  We're looking for it to "warm up" this weekend, with rain ... hopefully, Nita's water pipes will unfreeze and she'll get to quit hauling water from her daughter's.

I'm sure grateful for the firewood I was able to get, and for a neighbor who keeps it cut to manageable size for my stove.
I don't have a fire going now because I will be leaving for exercise class soon, and this afternoon I am scheduled for a blood donation.  THEN I will get a blazing fire going and maybe even pop some popcorn and snuggle down for the evening/night.

I see congratulations are in order for Paul! The arrival of a new little one is always reason to celebrate.
CONGRATULATIONS, GRANDPA PAUL!

It has warmed up a bit at 43° but my hands are still hurting. I am glad I decided to wear the Arthritis gloves today because it sure does help to warm them up a bit.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr it is getting cold along with snow and yes our ground is covered.

Larry:    You were asking about Etalk, It is a program that usually follows the pm news and yes it can be informative but most of the time is gossip, that is when the channel is changed or the TV is shut off,  some folk must it but not me.

Yup All gossip and I won't listen....That is why I admire John Tesh so much...he quit because he was convicted it was gossip.

The girls have gone to bed.  I am following close behind.  Some reason I am really tired tonight.  Unfortunately I will have to restart the fire in the morning, it won't last that long without being reloaded.

I had a phone call from a friend a few minutes ago.  They need a babysitter, so Kass has volunteered, also (this is the exciting news) their daughter is going to a local church Kids program.  They do skits and puppet shows.  On the 20th they are coming to our church to do the presentation, with Mom and Dad!  They have become good friends, that we are trying to reach for the Lord.

Well good night folks, rest in the Lord

Hi everyone.  It is also cold here in Georgia today, currently 27 degrees but suppose to get up to 50 degrees later today.  At least there is no rain forecast for today.

At noon today the Senior PC Learning Center folks are being treated to a special Christmas luncheon at the large county Senior Center, where are Learning Center is located.  This has become an annual affair for the last several years.  We always have a nice time.  The party is provided by the Senior Center staff for us with pretty decorations and usually some entertainment and good food.  I think this is my last Christmas activity before the holidays get here.  I do need to do my Christmas shopping for Pat.  I have a couple of things in mind.

Nita, sorry to read of your frozen pipes as know that is not only inconvenient but also a worry.

Etta Sue

The class luncheon was a fairly good showing yesterday.  There were 11 of us.  For such a cold day that was good.  Afterwards I found the beauty salon that Ivalou's phone number for didn't work.  So Ivalou has an appointment for a perm next Wednesday and I have a hair cut appointment.

I heard Ivalou stirring this morning and I got up.  But she went back to bed.  I hope she is feeling okay.  She seems to sleep a lot lately.  I think she has been discouraged because her INR test shows low.  That means her blood is thicker than it should be.  But we have no idea what to do to thin it up other than change dosage on her medication.

It is bright and sunny today but still soooo cold.  Only 15 when I got up.  But no wind so that is a plus.

Etta Sue the Dr will know how to change the meds....God's hand will guide him.  I will continue to pray.

Larry Dinners and times with friends are important.  I hope you have a great time.

John is in the country.  He is in snow at Sault St Marie, which means we have more snow coming.  He may bring it with him.  I have the drive to shovel.

Well have a great day everyone.

Jeanne Lee

My neighbor did my driveway and front porch so now, if I need to go out, all I have to do is...  clean off the car  >:(  Seems like deja vue - hardly seems there was a break between the same situation least year and this.  But I don't need to go anywhere so that snow can sit right there on top of the car for now. :)

I'm late getting here today ...  :-[  I gave blood yesterday and have been feeling "drained" ever since.  :D

It is beginning to rain here on the south coast of Oregon ... that's a good thing, because it means it's warming up ... Hopefully, Nita's water pipes will be thawing.

I have a picture of the lake outside my window when it was frozen (it's thawing now, and only parts of it are in ice) but I don't know how to post it.  Guess I'd better go read up on the instructions.   I'll be back later.  :sidedance:

Jane, Jeanne is a great help with that.

John will  be home tonight, and off all weekend. Woohoo.  Trying to get everything done today so we can be free tomorrow.   Girls home soon so Gotta run.

Etta Sue, what a cute graphic!  ;) Lots going on here, seems the hurrier I go, the behinder I get.  But I am feeling a bit nearer ready for Christmas, anyway.

I'm going to a pajama party tonight.  :o  Yep, back to childhood.  The ladies of the church are having a little party, so Pat and I are going.

Tomorrow is my painting day, so I will be up and out of here early, usually get home around four or a little later.

I baked Christmas cookies today. I only put plain white icing on them because I don't have any food coloring nor the patience to decorate them. My left hand was cramping so bad I didn't think  would be able to finish what I started but I did get them done. I think it is time for another  injection into the thumb joint  on that hand an one on the other hand too.

Hi, friends, I just got in from taking a friend to dinner...she rings bells for the Salvation Army each Christmastime, and of course, gets really cold. So, my Christmas present to her is to pick her up to take her for a meal in a really warm place.

Y'all have a good evening.

Hi Folks Well we finally have the computer going and its good to read all the posts again. Had an interesting week going to Minnesota and back. Had to deal with winter conditions and cold all week. Well its just the signs of the things to come for the next 3 or 4 months. It was cold enough in Minn. the night I was there, that I had to run the engine of the truck all night so it would go in the morning. In those severe temp diesels don't like to start if you let them get cold. Lots of snow in the northern mid west this week. Traveled back on miles of snowpac roads. Makes for interesting driving especially when your guessing what the other users of the road going to do. Most people are unfamiliar with the space needed by big vehicles as they think because they are heavy and have all those tires on the ground that we can stop them on a dime. Yes they do hold the road well with all that weight but if they do break loose and slide they become a force to recon with. I go by the theory that the best way to control a skid is to not get into one in the first place. Anyway will go for now but will be back now that we can again use our computer. Blessings Bonesy.

Goood Morning...

I see its warming up all around...AT least that should feel warm compared to the low temps...its funny, around here we had -7 with wind chill...its quieted down and temps 21...Thats considered warm,  :D...Most definitely better when the wind doesn't blow...

Bonesy-alot of people see the big rigs as a competitors on the road, its not sooo...They are doing a big service transporting to all over the place the goods that us people need. I show great respect for them. Glad you have your computer back....

Hoping & wishing you all-a wonderful God filled day...

Hi everyone.  We are 31 degrees here this morning but the house is warm. I have to get out for coffee and then to attend a meeting later this morning.

Yesterday we had a very nice Christmas party at the Senior Center given for the computer learning center vounteers.  Pat wasn't able to go.  I think the food may have been the best catered food I have ever eaten.  All of the items were very good.  They had the room decorated and it was very pretty.

I had hoped to do some Christmas shopping yesterday but when the luncheon was over I didn't really feel up to shopping, so didn't.

Yesterday Stacey called saying she had become stranded in her apartment building and her wheelchair would move.  She was able to get the chair back to her apartment.  Fortunately, she wasn't outside in the cold.  It may be a week before the company can get to her and get it fixed.  She has an important appointment on Monday at 1 pm so I will have to go down and take her as she couldn't get there on her own.  We can use the transport chair.

John, nice to see you posting again and to know you are safely off the bad roads.  I have been seeing news stories about the terrible storms going on North of us.  Sure glad I live in the south.  They are saying we might get a little sleet or snow later today or it will just be a cold rain.

Ruth Ann, that was a very nice thing for you to do for your friend.  I am sure she appreciated the good meal and especially the warm place to eat.

Marilyn, sorry to hear of the pain in your left hand.  Hope it is better today.

Janet, isn't it nice that as we get older we can once more enjoy doing things that others consider childish.  Hope the pajama party is great fun for you and your friends.

Jeanne, I remember when you worked at the City Hall and had to get to work even in bad weather.  It is nice to be retired so we don't have to go out in bad weather.

Etta Sue, I liked your graphic above.  It gave me a chuckle.  Hope the blood problem isn't too serious and can be easily treated for Ivalou.

Jane, Judy and Juanita, nice to see your postings.

Etta Sue

Actually this device that Ivalou has at home to check her blood is much better than going to the doctor's office to get a blood check and them telling her what to do.  That was once a month where the at home check is weekly.  The device give out a reading.  Then Ivalou calls a 1-800 number and tells them the reading.  If it is between 2 and 3, everything is fine.  If it is below 2 or above 3, then the INR device people calls the doctor's office and a nurse will call Ivalou to let her know how to adjust her Warfarin to hopefully get it back in the range it is suppose to be.  She is now taking 4.5mg daily...that's up from 3mg daily when she first came home from the hospital.

I know....that may be TMI but I didn't know how to shorten it!!   ::)

Charlene, my DIL, had her appendix out yesterday.  Seems that she does not have Crohns disease...does not have gall bladder problems...all her vomiting, diarrhea and stomach pain was her appendix.  At least it didn't burst.  She came home around 4pm last evening.  I called her this morning and she is tired and weak but doing fine.

Charlene's daughter, Audrey, is due to have Makena Grace anytime.  If Makena doesn't make her own appearance by next weekend, they are going to induce labor.

Today Kitty and I are going swimming again.  Maybe soon we will get to go swimming during the week.  Ivalou made her own bed yesterday from the dryer to the bed.  She fixed her own breakfast.  We ate at a Mexican restaurant for late lunch/early dinner.  I am thinking that as soon as she gets the Lifeline necklace, she will tell me to 'go home...I will call you when I need you'!  It will be nice to visit her at home a couple of times a day instead of me coming home a couple of times a day.

I need to work on my family calendars...not many more days until it is 2010!  Need to put Makena's birthdate on there first!

Oh my!  It's already past noon here in the east and I'm way behind on everything!   :(

Still very cold - it went down to around 5 F last night.  One good thing, though.  The furnace is running enough that I can dry my laundry on a rack over the heating vent and I don't need to run the dryer.

Larry, I'm delighted to be retired and able to just stay inside when the weather is bad.  The worst years were when I worked on the other side of the mountain and had to travel those 14 miles in all kinds of weather.

Etta Sue, it sure sounds as though Ivalou is getting closer and closer to not needing constant care.  I know you'll be glad when that day arrives.

It's Saturday night, and I am safely back home!  We had a really fun pajama party last night; there were only six of us there, but we had a good time, playing a game and getting better acquainted with each other.  We don't have nearly enough fellowship time at church things.  A couple fo the husbands had asked what time in the morning to expect their wives home!  Ha ha.  So they told them it wasn't a SLUMBER party, just a pj party!

Today at my painting meeting, we had lots of fun, too.  I can't remember that bunch ever laughing so much!  They got to telling funny incidents from their lives, and it was hilarious, so I came home feeling as if I'd had a mini-vacation.  We did our Christmas gift exchange and my gift is a hard-sided Samsonite suitcase, painted with snowmen on one side and the words "Cherish, family, friends and traditions."  AND....inside there were seven hand-made scarfs!  She said one for each day of the week. :)  And there is more!  A stack of five arts, crafts and decorating books!!  Wow, am I blessed!

Tomorrow is the reception for Toni's college graduation and then in the evening, Abby's Christmas play.  (I really should say Bethel Church's play, in which Abby has the leading role.  ;))

I am still really sore from the strenuous workouts this week!  Ouch!

Larry, What a shame about Stacey's chair failing her.  Not good.  She is so blessed to have such caring parents.  Please drive safely when you go to rescue her.

Janet I want to ask about Beth but I don't know how to put it delicately. did here bowel problem get worked out? Did she remember how to push? I  have been praying for  her. I woke up at midnight last night and  began to pray, I do that when I have any kind of difficulty falling back to sleep. Sometimes I fall asleep while praying.

This has been a busy day.  Got a lot done, but not all that I wanted to do.  Oh well Monday is another day.

We are having company tomorrow, it will be nice, these friends are our girls adopted grandparents.  Well loved by all of us.

The cold is here.  There have been 2 cold related deaths.  Tonight there is a cold weather watch across Canada, with temperatures dropping to below -40 in a large portion of the country.  At least that is what the news up here said.  It will be fun trying to keep the house warm.

We are tired, and heading to bed soon.

Etta Sue

Ivalou doesn't need constant help now.  I think she just needs assurance that if she does need assistance or help, she can call my name and I am there.  Again it will be nice when I can run over there twice a day instead of running over here twice a day.

Kitty and I went swimming.  I think I have learned to slow down and rest.  I think I have conquered the freestyle with my face in the water, arms moving and feet kicking and breathing.  But I get tired.  After the 30th lap, I rested for maybe 3 minutes.  Then swam two laps.  Those two laps were the only laps all day that I did what I wanted to do.  I was rested.  Kitty likes to see how fast you can do 30 laps.  I am going to work on quality...not quantity.

Then we ate at Pizza Hut and then I got my groceries in for the three pot luck dinners I am going to in the next week or two.

I did some laundry when I got home and watched 'Christmas in Canaan'...a movie on Hallmark channel with Billy Ray Cyrus in it.  He was even sporting a conservative haircut!  I finally saw a handsome man without the mullet or tacky hair style!!

So now when I get back home today, I can have the afternoon to do what I want to do...even though I had one of 'those' nights that I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep this morning.  Maybe I will work on those calendars that need to get done!
